A Premium Card

Love this card. It's more expensive than I would like and had BestBuy had a different one in stock that was cheaper, I would have bought that one instead, but it really is a premium card. It feels incredible to hold and the build quality is really nice. Not a huge fan of the red and blue on the fan side of the card, but it's facing down in my build so I will never see it. Only downside so far is the fact I can't get the Asus software to show the card so I can't adjust the RGB. As for performance, I am hitting 260 FPS at 1440p in Modern Warfare II. I have it paired with a 13900k and 32GB of DDR5 ram, and it's just killing it. If you can afford it, definitely pull the trigger. Last thing, I saw another review mention coil whine, but thankfully my card doesn't have any.

Better than most people are saying.

Many are saying the 4080, especially the strix edition is a waste due to the gap in performance with the 4090. To that, I say it depends on what resolution you are playing in. I bought this card playing in 3440 x 1440. I think it's perfect for this particular resolution. The gap in performance with the 4080 and 4090 is only large in 4K.. if you look up 1440p or 1440p ultrawide results, it's not as significant. The 4090 excels in 4k and if I was playing in 4k, I would've only considered the 4090. So, I say if you're just trying to maximize your high frames in 1440p, this is a great card for that. The strix in particular is great, I got it on sale for 1400ish bucks which isnt too bad considering its normally 1550. It runs very cool under load, I wasn't exceeding 50c. ... MoreMany are saying the 4080, especially the strix edition is a waste due to the gap in performance with the 4090. Make sure you double check dimensions, it BARELY fit in my case lol. All in all, I'm happy getting a high quality 4080 as it is great for anything under 4k. I did not notice any coil whine.

Excellent choice if you cant get a 4090

Lets address the elephant first. Yes, this is overpriced compared to the 4090. I thought long and hard before going for this card. But with the rog strix, you're not just paying for the card, but the cooler too. I decided to go to this from a 3090 because I do a lot with MS Flight Simulator and I really wanted the dlss 3 performance improvement. And I got what I wanted. I went from 50 to around 100 fps in NYC. Also, I wanted to be able to play almost any title in 4k with ray tracing with at least 60 fps. So far, Ive got that too. But the main thing that impresses me is how COOL this card runs. I rarely go above 60 c with the fans almost dead silent in games that my 3090 would have run at 75 c with the fans much louder. So overall, you should still go for the 4090 IF ... MoreLets address the elephant first. Yes, this is overpriced compared to the 4090. I thought long and hard before going for this card. Excellent performance

Excellent performance, I got it for 1800 dollars, to play in 1080p (for now) in which I change my monitor, but excellent equipment and it does justice to its size because it does not exceed 61°C in titles such as Halo Infinite, Portal with Rtx, COD MWII, Cyberpunk 2077 and Fly Simulator all at more than 80fps, all in ultra on a borrowed 4k monitor, in my case it hasn't exceeded 320W of consumption. COUPLED TO A 13900kf AND 32GB DDR5 6000MHZ, it barely exceeded 650W at full load in the benchmarks, so I have more than enough of the 850W PSU. In short: expensive? Yes, but it's worth every penny... Penny.

Great card but expensive.

Bought a few weeks ago. Pretty big leap even from last gen (RTX 3080). Ray tracing performance is much better. Card runs REALLY cool. Massive card. Probably overbuilt for a 4080 as they are using a 4090 heat sink on it. A bit of coil whine but completely unnoticeable when playing with a headset. Premium 4080 but at a very premium price.

Great performance + build quality, BUT... PRICE!!

This review was difficult to word... I love this card. It was great, but I keep looking at the absolutely horrendous price that Nvidia gave it. In 2011, I bought a Nvidia GTX 480 reference card for about $400.. the RTX 4080 reference card is over $1,200 when you do the real math. Knowing this, spending over $1,700+ after tax/etc... for this AIB card, it was a tough decision to make. Performance for this card is as expected, it's a *little* improvement over my RX6950XT for rasterization and immense for RT, but truth be told, it wasn't worth the price.. If you have an RTX 2080, it would be worth it more to uprade to this card. If you own a RTX 3080 or RX6900/6950XT, I'd keep it for value and sensibility. If this card was priced around $850 or closer, I'd would have given it 5/5 across the board. It's a good card with a good performance uplift and it's built very very well, the PRICE though Nvidia, come on... If I find a 4090 with some luck, I may return this card for it. But I don't see that happening within my return window, so I may settle for it.

It practically screams at you.

This GPU works as far as gaming goes. Very well actually. However, its overpriced. I feel like this card cant even overclock enough to make the giant heatsink actually struggle. Yet somehow, when games get to about 90fps or so, the card starts almost screaming at you with coil whine. Theres no excuse for it at all at this price point. maybe if it was $300 cheaper I could recommend it (as well as some nice noise cancelling headphones).

Do you have wads of cash to blow? Are you looking to be the alpha male in your friend group? Then look no further then the 4080 ROG STRIX.With its beefy overkill cooler design, this card stays whisper quiet while only reaching 60c max (in a Corsair 5000D case)Overclocking potential is there, but due to voltage limits on the 40 series cards, you won’t get too far. You’re going to need a big case for this hefty boy, make sure to use the included GPU support doohickey!Cmon, what else is there to say, it’s the fûckîng best 4080 money can buy.

Superb performance if you can afford it

Having had the card a couple of weeks, I can honestly say it is simply the best card I have ever owned. I do not need a 4090 and I currently don't need 4k gaming, so at 1440 its mega quick with no bottle necks. I have read you can overclock this card past 3Ghz, but would you really need to?If you are thinking of upgrading to this card, it is 2.5 times faster than a RTX 3060ti and twice as fast as a RTX 3070ti. Comparing it to a RTX 3090 and the RX 6950 XT you will get over 30% gains before using overclocking, (Asus TUF versions used for benchmarking). My previous card was a AMD RX 6950 XT, which whilst a tad faster than my sons RTX 3090, was a pain in the butt. Lots of windows 11 issues with the stupid conflicts adrenaline software caused with the installed sound software.Having bought this car, it installed straight away and Nvidia's software ran perfectly fine, (after removing AMD software), and it runs all my games flat out on full settings. The card weighs 2.4Kg so you will need to use the supplied card support, which is magnetic and really well made. I can say the same of the card itself, usual Asus quality built card with a metal backplate and shroud, but I would expect that at this price. One online reviewer complained of whine from their test card, er what whine? Fans are super quiet too. My whole system runs cooler than before, typical gpu idle is 28 degrees and during gaming it rarely ever breaks 50 degrees.RTX 4080's are very power efficient and you will get away with a 850w PSU. This card in particular draws a lot less than my AMD card did when gaming (65+w less). You get two fan connectors on the end of the card, for running installed case fans in conjunction with the cards own fans, but I have not bothered with this. The only thing which I can think of why not to buy this card, is if you have a small or medium sized case, as this card is huge measuring 35cm long. I have a Coolermaster HAF 912, which easily fit this card in and I had no issues with the 16 pin plug cable bending. Asus supply you with a quality made connector which uses three 8 pin plugs from your PSU. I have a Be Quiet PSU installed so bought their own version, which uses only two 8 pin plugs and reduces the amount of cables on show.At the time of buying Overclockers were offering this card anywhere from £50-100 less than competitors, the non OC version can be had slightly cheaper if that's your thing.I ordered the previous evening and my card was available next morning for collection, which is great if you live locally and do not want next day delivery.

First off, I will admit it's definitely a high priced card. But, it is very well executed! Amazing temps even under high load situations and amazing frame rate and super low delay times. Only advice for anyone looking to get a 4080-4090 CHECK YOUR MESUREMENTS!!! Make sure you have more space then what you think for the power cables, and for the length of the card. Absolutely love the card and the ability to run any game on ultra with RT enabled and not have to worry about an unenjoyable experience doesn't exist anymore!
