The Nimbustor 4 utilizes the Intel Gemini Lake Celeron J4105 Quad Core CPU and is 30% faster than Apollo lake. The Celeron J4105 also doubles the on-chip cache to 4MB, making the Nimbustor 4 one of fastest NAS devices ever. The Nimbustor 4 comes with four Gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and can be upgraded up to 8GB. DDR4 RAM provides up to 30% greater performance than DDR3 while also lowering energy requirements by 40%. The Nimbustor 4 provides two 2.5-Gigabit Ethernet ports. Enable up to 150% faster performance than Gigabit Ethernet with compatible hardware and up to 5 Gbps using Link Aggregation. The AS53 series devices produce only 19 decibels of noise during system standby, equivalent to the almost inaudible sound of a pin drop. During system operation, only 32 decibels of noise is produced, equivalent to the hushed tones of a quiet library, allowing the AS53 series devices to seamlessly and comfortably integrate into any living environment. ASUSTOR NAS products are designed and developed around ecologically friendly concepts. When in use, ASUSTOR devices consume far less power than the average computer or server. Furthermore, an advanced power control features allow you to more efficiently manage your NAS device and hard drives. This lowers your electric bill and prolongs the lifespan of your hard drives all at the same time. While in disk hibernation, the AS5304T consumes only 12.6 W of power. Under normal operating conditions it still only consumes 27 W of power.

Pros:Love the slick looks and huge power of this server, kitted it out with a further 4gb DDR4 2400 SODIM to bring it up to 8gb and installed 16Tb of WD Red+ hard drives. An App is available for almost anything you would want to do and all mostly free.Cons:Takes a little time learn the included apps to secure the server.Had problems with Plex so used Emby instead and found this brilliantly easy to configure.A little noisy from the hard drives while indexing files but I'm sure it will calm down.

Purchased this as a replacement to my older Western Digital NAS. Overall, the setup was pretty straightforward and easy. The OS is a little complicated if you're used to the more simple WD interfaces, although this is much more powerful. It has some great apps you can install for all kinds of uses. I've had zero issues since setting it up as a RAID 5.

What's more, there is Asustor College online that can answer 40 or so questions, check it out before you buy. My suggestion is buy SSD drives, the unit will be completely silent and generate much less heat. Also, if using Acronis be aware you will need a v3.x USB drive to copy the backup files so the boot CD has something to write to the pc's C: drive. Lastly, when mounting 2.5 inch drives, be aware there are some plastic mounting strips intended for 3.5 inch hard drives you'll need to remove in order to mount the 2.5's. Press the end of the plastic pin which holds them in. I was done with the whole migration, doubling my storage, in about three hours.

I retired 2 D-link DS-321's and a Seagate NAS for this. The speed is amazing. I installed 4 Crucial MX500 1Tb ssd's for the time being, until bigger quality ssd prices come down. Using it as multipurpose. A Emby media server to the Emby App on a Roku and also Emby on a Kodi. Also using it for data storage. Software wasn't too bad of a learning curve.Highly recommend this NAS for large home or small office.
Good Points: Easy to install with screwless trays. Upgrading the RAM was also painless.I imported the configuration from my AS5104T and left it alone until the disk initialisation had finished. I then copied data across and found I was getting write speeds up to 2.2Gb/s which is a good proportion of the rated 2.5Gb/s.The maximum read speed I've seen so far is a little disappointing at 1.8Gb/s.Improvement Points: The fan is very noisy above the Low setting. I've now set it to Auto and it hasn't shifted off Low speed.I prefer the older disk caddies to the new screwless ones as they seem more robust.
Good Points: Very very quiet in operation. Easy to install drives. Excellent help tutorials provided by Asustor. They will basically teach you how to maintain a network.Improvement Points: A lot of hype over the 'diamond turned' finish. The sides are painted black and the front cover (with a super cool magnetic catch) is just plastic. There is a lot of status LEDs and they're quite 'busy' bring all different colours. There's lots of options to turn them off though so we'll done for that. Would be nice to see something a bit sleeker in aluminium at this price point.
I bought the AS5304T in part so that I could use Surveillance Center to monitor my surveillance cameras. It turns out that Surveillance Center works only with Windows, not macOS nor Linux. This NAS works ok for backups, but if I had known about the limitation on Surveillance Center I would have looked for a different product.
This may be a fine unit but until I get it to work I will not know. The Asustor NAS was delivered on August 17, 2022. It's now September 13, 2022, and I have not yet been able to achieve a fully functioning unit. It was not made clear to me at the time of purchase that you must have a good understanding of NAS/networks to set up this unit and get it to work. Asustor only provides technical support over the web through a ticket system. Response times have been days to a week, and they often just reference me to their online tutorials of which they have over 80. That's good but I did not want to take a course in NAS to get this thing to work.
I am running this NAS with two 6tb iron wolf drives in a Raid 1 config. So far so got.It was easy to set up. The things I had to learn were the different ways of creating backup schedules, mapping network drives, using some of the apps and how to use the Cloud access via the internet, but that would be similar with any other NAS.The NAS looks good, performs well, currently only serving the role of remote storage but I do have it connected to a keyboard and monitor so that I can play around with its HDMi capabilities. I have tied a few of the Asustor mobile apps to access the Nas remotely. So far so good.I like it but I don't have any previous NAS experience with other products.I pick this device to have future proof hardware (i.e. 4 bays for expansion, ... MoreI am running this NAS with two 6tb iron wolf drives in a Raid 1 config.
