A Great Well-Rounded Headset

I know $300 is a lot of money for most, so many people are expecting a fully rounded product, and that's okay. But everyone needs to realize that every headset has its pros and cons. This headset bridges a gap between a truly audiophile experience and a gaming headset. Unfortunately, it sacrifices some traditional gaming headset features and functionality, along with a well polished and experienced gaming headset software/firmware experience.I'm okay with that, as it allows me to put on one headset for critical music listening, gaming, and phone connectivity. Some people won't, maybe if gaming is your main focus, or if the sound isn't for you. The wireless is extremely rock-solid if connected via the dongle, with no drop out whatsoever; you can happily walk around the house with it on, while still listening to music and talking to friends - in fact, they often can't even tell when I get up to walk around or otherwise, thanks to the above and the incredible microphone with some in-built noise cancelling.Would I recommend them? Absolutely, premium product setting a new standard for gaming headsets. The only thing I'd caution is that the dongle is very picky about what it attaches to - you're going to need a high speed USB(-C) port or else it will complain (or, well, not complain, since it will simply not work...)

The Maxwells for me are awesome. I'm happy I got them. The volume is noticeably lower than that of the Penrose, but it's still loud enough for my liking. The bass is intoxicating but not overpowering. The highs are pleasant and I love it, although you can tell they relatively sound a bit veiled. This is one area where the Penrose headphones seem to excel as they sound brighter, though the highs in the Maxwell are a lot easier in the ears. I believe the better term to describe its highs is smooth. (Update: With the ability to customize EQs being available now, the highs are about where I want them. They sound so much better now.) Overall, the Maxwell headphone is a clear winner in almost every aspect. I hear more details than before, the comfort is excellent, even the soundstage appears to be slightly wider. Also love it has LDAC support so I can play music in 990kbps bitrate again.I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the headphones sounded while playing Hogwarts Legacy on my PS5. I noticed a slight improvement in the Tempest surround sound. As I pan my character around, the sound as it pans is more natural. It's like the sound's gradation from right to left and back again is much smoother. Could be a placebo so take it with a grain of salt, but the balance is between the left and right drivers are significantly more even. The controls are very intuitive. I can on the fly change eq depending on the song I play or the mood I'm in. I can finally go back or forward a track. I didn't expect to use this feature often, but I now switch to and fro sidetone mode on the fly since I use it as transparency mode.If I haven't been clear enough, I love this headset. It's my favorite headset/headphone I've ever owned so far

Warm full bodied sound and high volume output. Mic is clear for party chat, it sounds like you’re in a podcast studio. Only drawbacks are weight and no simultaneous Bluetooth.

Best sounding headphones I've used

I'm using mine solely on a Windows 11 PC. I already had the license for Dolby Atmos, so these made the most sense.I researched new gaming headphones for a few weeks before I stumbled upon one that recommended the Audeze Maxwell's. I was using a pair of four year old Astro A50's that were used daily for probably close to 100 hours/week. Those were great, they were comfortable, they were also getting worn out and recent reviews indicate that Logitech has fumbled the purchase of Astro. These headphones do exactly what the other reviews say, they sound amazing, battery life is crazy long (the 80 hour estimate is not an exaggeration) and the microphone is excellent. These were good enough that not only do I recommend them here, I recommended them to my clanmates (old ... MoreI'm using mine solely on a Windows 11 PC. I love this headset, if I could marry this headset, I would

This headset sets a new standard for the price point, great spatial audio, great closed back, great passive noise isolation, best of the best for wireless headsets at a reasonable price point. I love everything about this headset with a small complaint about the microphone. The noise suppression/cancelling built into microphone is solid. The mic quality is not very good. I think it is a misconception that gamers don't care about mic quality and that clarity outweighs quality. The Shure designed microphone is the only mic that works in this port and sounds hollow with noise suppression off, robotic with noise suppression low/high. The sidetone isn't perfectly executed but passable and rare for headsets. The Audeze Maxwell for XBOX is exactly what I was hoping it would be. The sound is amazing, the connection is strong, and they can get LOUD. other wireless I had tried in the past just didn't have the oomph I needed. These are expensive but you get what you pay for. You wont regret it.

Hesitant to buy these at first, due to weight and cost vs others. But in the end I'm glad I did. The sound is amazing and everything is so clear, even wind and whispers. Gaming music epic now! I'm so immersed in games I don't notice the extra weight and they're very comfortable so it hasn't been a problem for me. Well worth the price and B&H is where I go for everything audio and gaming.

The Penrose that I always wanted
24 May 2023

Worth the upgrade from Audeze Penrose X. I wanted the best of both world for audio and games. The Penrose did try to execute that, but they failed due to poor connectivity and poor battery life. Audeze solved all of that issues with the Maxwell. It would be awesome if Audeze honored Penrose owner with a discount on the Maxwell.

The sonic standard to be measured against.

Sonically they are as close to a perfect tonal balance as I’ve ever heard in a headset, improving on Audeze’s own Penrose and mobius , build quality is rock solid and you can choose plenty of ways to connect. The mic noise reduction is magical and there’s even a hidden mic in case you take the mic off and use them as headphones. There’s no other word than outstanding.
