I bought this turntable around a month ago, and it’s been a fantastic acquisition to the house. I already had an old Yamaha receiver and some solovox speakers to hook it up to. The assembly is pretty easy, comes with instructions, and there’s loads of videos online if you struggle at all. I was wanted to begin collecting music and albums again, and after heavily researching, most people recommend this, and I now see why. It sounds amazing, and is well worth starting at the mid point of turn tables, rather than needing an upgrade soon after starting out. Great item, well worth the money, and I was able to next day click and collect from my local richer sounds.

Excellent turntable, among my best-spent money, has good playback quality even when using its built-in preamp. The design of the body in one part and the height of only 4 cm make it elegant and a beautiful design object (mine is matt black ... I love it!). It has an engine with a traction force more than adequate for its role (domestic reproduction) with an excellent speed constancy. Feet of excellent construction that cushion and dampen vibrations in an excellent way. The VM95E cartridge itself is already excellent and the possibility of being able to update it with a more valuable stylus in such a simple way is really a fantastic thing. Converting vinyls to digital with Audacity software is very fast and simple. All problems encountered with the previous 120 model ... MoreExcellent turntable, among my best-spent money, has good playback quality even when using its built-in preamp. Very happy with my purchase… sound and build quality are excellent. I bought this after being without a turntable for quite some time, but have kept up with buying records, so thought it was about time I got something to play them on. Was willing to spend up to £400, but decided to go for this at £250 due to reviews I’d read and knowing someone with the same unit.Very pleased with the order process - very easy, ordered at 3pm on a Tuesday and it arrived at 1pm the next day. I took the £25 six year guarantee, as if not used, they give it back, so may as well. Will definitely buy from Richer Sounds again - as I have many times in the past - my only complaint, and it’s minor, is that they could slow down with the auto-emails after purchase, but other than that, all ... MoreVery happy with my purchase… sound and build quality are excellent. I have been thinking about all my 60s to 80s vinyl languishing in the attic and wondering should I get rid of them to a charity shop or something having replaced my favourites with CDs, however when I came to do it, getting them down and looking through them brought back memories in a way that CDs fail to do, so I decided to play them again. I had parted with my Toshiba linear tracking deck many years ago so I decided to look for a new deck although I did not want to pay the earth, after doing a bit of research I finally decided on the Audio Technica 120, it not being bargain basement but not costing a great deal compared to what can be paid - most of the reviews were positive so I duly ordered it from Richer Sounds - a company I had never dealt with before however ... MoreI have been thinking about all my 60s to 80s vinyl languishing in the attic and wondering should I get rid of them to a charity shop or something having replaced my favourites with CDs, however when I came to do it, getting them down and looking through them brought back memories in a way that CDs fail to do, so I decided to play them again. The deck arrived the next day less than 24hours after ordering it and the deck has exceeded my expectations the sound quality is better than I can remember my vinyl ever sounding, the trebles, middle and bass are all perfectly clear even on some of the vinyl I had considered played to death, obviously some of this will be down to the quality of the amp and speakers both of which are Denon but if the sound quality from the deck had been rubbish the amplified sound would have been too. The deck was simple enough to put together - there are instructions on the Audio-Technica website if the supplied ones seem a bit sparse, the deck is a straight forward manual operation nothing automatic which may be a downside if you hark back to the old tin boxes of the 60s when you could stack 10 45s and wonder when they would all start slipping. If you are after a straightforward deck with simply operation no bells and whistles with a great sound and a good price this is one to put on your short list.
Back in the day I owned a Transcriptors reference turntable with an SME series 2 detachable with originally a Shure v15 cartridge subsequently upgraded to a Grace cartridge of a now forgotten designation. This via a Yamaha CA 600 drove LS3 5A's and a Rodgers low pass power amp and horn subwoofer. This had a huge and detailed sound. friends said it always sounded like real live music. But like I said that was back in the day. So having tired of CD's and the fuss being an audiophile requires I sat back a long long time and I now confess folks I feed my sound system is via a computer. This chap shouldn't even be reviewing a product I hear you audiophiles shout! Well folks I feel my tale is interesting. This chap shouldn't even be reviewing a product I hear you audiophiles shout! Well folks I feel my tale is interesting. I began to hear tales of a USB deck capable of recording vinyl gems of any sort!! Low and behold another memory jog brought up the name Richer Sounds and having done some research and with the Richer Sounds website help I came up with the Audio Technica 120XUSB. I must be daft I thought there is no way this product could get any where near my previous set of years ago, but could it? Very good reviews everywhere persuaded me from sound quality to ease of set up that it was worth a punt. And what can I say, I recorded a very old Variations by Andrew Lloyd Webber to my HP i5 computer and quite frankly could not believe how good the recording is. I'm so impressed with the sound as is and the upgrade potential that I'm purchasing re-releases such as (so far ) Tommy by the Who and Meddle by Pink Floyd. The Audio Technica cartridge as it stands is competent and doesn't appear to have any inner track tracking issues, the sound is tight with detail always present. The deck is well made and sounds solid. If you wish to preserve your vinyl by using MP3 recordings to protect your albums from wear and tear look no further. Highly recommended . Mike
The Audio Technica USB AT X120 P Turntable is very nicely made and performance is even better than reviews suggested. I particularly went for the direct drive (no stretching belts) and the quality of the cast turntable, arm/cartridge etc is excellent. Not difficult to assemble loose components, the only missing thing for my old habits is a hard copy manual for it. The online version is easily available, just not what I prefer. Overall, very pleased with this, will try the Audacity software next to copy my records onto the computer.
It really is a great turntable. I was a little bit iffy on going with a direct drive motor from what I've heard but it's been great so far for well over a year. I do not hear any motor noise while it's on. I'm sure there are many other options and competitors for a similar price, but this particular turntable for what you're getting for the price is fantastic value. You're getting a solid build, and mid range audio quality that can be upgraded down the road. It's been a conversation starter when I've hosted events at my house, and everyone who's had the chance to listen to it has said nothing but good things about the sound quality. Many of my friends are musicians like myself so we are very brutally honest with how something sounds, and so far, nothing but good ... MoreIt really is a great turntable. I'm sure anyone like myself who collects the odd vinyl records and plays a record or two during the weekdays to wind down, will be very satisfied with this TT. I'm sure there are even cheaper TT that will suffice the average listener, so this one should certainly surpass your expectations unless you're seeking for the best machine to accompany a very expensive speaker system, then I would say to look elsewhere.
I bought this for my son after he bought a cheap all-in-one record player on eBay and had to return it due to poor quality. This Audio Technica is a million miles ahead in terms of quality! It was easy to get up and running and there are loads of Youtube videos explaining how to set the tone arm up properly. I am an old skool bedroom DJ and still have my 1210's and this gives them a good run for the money. Not quite the same level but certainly a fantastic deck for playing vinyl. Son loves it.
I’ve had this turntable for two weeks now and bought it after studying other reviews and have found it excellent value for the money. Unboxed, assembled and connected within 20 minutes without any issues. I am currently using it to convert all the albums I have collected over 50 years to MP3 format on USB and they sound amazing. Richer Sounds staff at the Darlington store answered all my questions and were very knowledgable. As promised it was delivered next day well packaged and well within the 1 hour time slot. Can’t fault the service or the product, Very happy all round.
I bought this for my boyfriend's birthday and not knowing much myself, I felt like I was bit bewildered looking for the right thing. The staff at the Deansgate shop were just amazing and their knowledge was top notch. Rob, a legendary DJ himself gave simple advice, reviewed products against each other, highlighted pros and cons and matched to my price point. This was my first purchase with Richer Sounds but it's made me a good customer and I will be back! Personal service and superior product. Spot on!
