Still early days with this turntable but bought it to replace a broken Sony. Very pleased with this so far. To us it was important to be able to adjust the pitch, as on the Sony some albums were not running true. Build quality is good and sound is very good. Was kind of hoping that the Bluetooth would work with a bluetooth computer, but it doesn't! It would seem now that it only works with a bluetooth receiver not another bluetooth compatible device. This would be useful for Richer Sounds to be aware of this, as I was led to believe it would sync up. However, it would not have prevented me buying the turntable. Audio Technica advice line was very prompt and really helpful too, which was a bonus!! Would definitely recommend this, although I would doubt the benefit of ... MoreStill early days with this turntable but bought it to replace a broken Sony. Very pleased with this so far. I haven't had a turntable in 30 years - my last was mid level Pioneer that was great but got lost in a fire. After reading tons of reviews from expensive to cheap turntables, it seemed like nobody was really satisfied, so I jumped again at mid level and am delighted this turntable. I like that it's direct drive, the cartridge really plays well enough where I have no desire to change it and this turntable really isolates vibrations well - mine is in a cabinet 2ft from a sub woofer and there is no howl or feedback what so ever. It went together fast with nothing tricky and if you are new to turntables there are plenty of YouTube vids to guide you. I also love the little light that shines on the needle, makes cueing records easier. Purchased this as a Christmas gift for our teenage daughter who has a love for music and like many is finding vinyl as it makes a comeback. Picked this one based on reviews and what was in stock. Paid a little more then an entry level option, but so far we are happy with the turntable. Seems well built, more solid then some of the other options by the same brand. We are only a couple months in, but my daughter is happy with the product. The only things that kept me from 5 stars is that it is still early and needs more time/use for full evaluation. Also like others have noted, very poor instructions, no manual, just a few simple pictures. We had to take several swings at set up via online videos. In fact, I was close to taking it back thinking something was wrong ... MorePurchased this as a Christmas gift for our teenage daughter who has a love for music and like many is finding vinyl as it makes a comeback. It's really hard to beat the combination of features in the AT-LP120X BT USB. About the only thing missing is auto stop or auto return. And that's missing because purists prefer fully manual turntables to avoid the chance of extra mass influencing the sound. The sound quality from this turntable and the included 95E stylus is very good. And there are other styli you can upgrade to without having to change out the cartridge. Yes, there are more expensive turntables with higher sound quality. But with the LP120X you are well into the range of "diminishing returns" on sound quality. There are comparison videos online against the infamous Technics SL-1200. The differences are small, and can be easily missed if you're not paying close attention. That's how good the ... MoreIt's really hard to beat the combination of features in the AT-LP120X BT USB. The differences are small, and can be easily missed if you're not paying close attention. That's how good the LP120X is.If I have one sound quality complaint it is the built-in preamp. It's not bad, it just doesn't have enough gain in my opinion. Whether this affects you or not will depend on what you are plugging it into. But you may find yourself adding an external preamp with a variable gain.If you plan to play 78 rpm records, keep in mind that you will want to purchase the dedicated 78 rpm stylus. And if you will be changing between 33/45 and 78 frequently, you will probably want a 2nd head and cartridge. Fortunately Audio-Technica sells a complete kit with head, cartridge, and stylus for not that much more than the stylus alone. And there is a place on the turntable to store a spare head. Changing the stylus isn't difficult, but if you have a complete head it's as simple as unscrewing one and screwing on the other.USB out with Audacity running on a Mac or PC works flawlessly for digitizing your LPs with lossy 16/44.1 or 16/48. And while I prefer analog connections direct to my receiver to avoid Bluetooth lossy compression, Bluetooth will let you get the music to headphones or a device out of reach of an RCA cable.I'm not sure what else to say. It's a fantastic turntable with great sound quality, and with an unmatched feature set for the price. I highly recommend it.
I wanted a turntable that I could connect to my Sony soundbar, and this turntable seemed to fit the bill pefectly; having both a line amplifier and Bluetooth. Although I wasn't expecting audiophile level sound quality, the sound through the soundbar and sub-woofer is amazing, and definitely exceeded my expectation.Having set up the turntable through the soundbar using the line out connection, I then realised that I could also use the Bluetooth to allow me to listen directly through my old Bluetooth headphones, which is an added bonus.Needless to say, I am really happy with this purchase.A big shout out also to Richer Sounds telesales, who gave me great advice regarding this purchase. After having spent my youth borrowing my brother's turntable, and then setting aside albums, as most of us did, with the rise of cassettes and cds, I decided to join the movement back into plaiying albums a few years ago. My first purchase of a turntable was the AT LP60, and I really enjoyed the sound. I became curious about the potential improvements that might be enjoyed with an upgraded turntable. I moved the LP60 into another room and bought the LP120xUSB for my office where it would get the most use. I was very impressed by the new turtable's sturdy base, the overall design, and the easy set-up process. Best of all, this relatively inexpensive upgrade generated a superior sound that I thoroughly enjoyed. My only regret is that I couldn't get over my need for a ... MoreAfter having spent my youth borrowing my brother's turntable, and then setting aside albums, as most of us did, with the rise of cassettes and cds, I decided to join the movement back into plaiying albums a few years ago. If you can forego the convenience of a semiautomatic or fully automatic turntable, this one is a winner.
I purchased this turntable to capture several old record audio. The specifications looked good - Bluetooth and USB interface - and my impression was audio technica is a quality brand. When I unpacked and tried the turntable, the stylus did not track well and made loud scratching noise. This was reproduced on several records.I contacted Audio technica support and iterated with a support engineer. Sent videos of the sound and finally agreed that there must be a cartridge problem. I was told that they would send a replacement with 2-day FedsX shipping. Sadly after four days nothing. I understand problems occur but had hoped there would be greater sense of urgency to help a customer.Maybe an isolated problem but if you have options consider them prior to making an ... MoreI purchased this turntable to capture several old record audio. I spent a lot of time researching various brands and models of turntables before buying this one. There are more expensive models out there that MAY have better sound, but this one is fine. I do intend to upgrade the cartridge at some point, but I was very happy with the sound from the "baseline" cartridge/needle that comes with this turntable. I'm old-school and miss a bit of the automatic stuff (come on, just go back to rest after the end of an album rather than making me come lift the arm), but overall I have no complaints. Didn't have any issue connecting these to the Bose Revolve Bluetooth speaker I have. Wonderful sound.A word of warning - the directions that come with this for set-up are a bit useless. My first turntable that was expensive and I'm glad I bought it. I first tried the Insignia player for $130 and while it introduced me to replaceable cartridges and counterweights, this one far improves on that. Counterweight installs easily and is easy to adjust.... speed is definitely accurate and works great. The instructions seem lacking but you probably don't really need them much.I replaced the cartridge that came with it with my Ortofon Red and it sounds amazing. The tonearm is light and is easy to "aim" to get it in the groove. Very nice feel to that.Bluetooth being Apt-X is a nice improvement if I ever use it (which I likely won't because I like the sound from analog).... it also has a USB port and I suppose if it could do that, why can't we go even ... MoreMy first turntable that was expensive and I'm glad I bought it. The cartridge is easy to install on the removable head and then place back to have perfect alignment.Only complaint I have is to not have it auto-return or at least stop when it hits the center.... but when you pay for more, this usually happens, I guess.Still, I'm very happy with this
Good Entry to Mid level turntable. I purchased this to build out a HI-FI system for my home. Overall build quality is good with a couple extras. Clamshell comes with stylus. There is a built in pre amp, which is great if your receiver doesn’t have a phono one. Also has basic wires so you can use all the other options, which is cool if want to load your vinyl to a computer. The Bluetooth option has a pretty long reach, about 30 ft, headphones and portable speakers sound good. The last of the extras come in the form of the light to help you make sure you can get the right track. Once it was all hooked up and tone arm balance, great sound. Fear not, the staff at audio technica helped me trouble shoot everything and are now sending me a new stylus as that was determined to be the issue. It does stink that I only had the thing for a month but the customer service is fantastic. They responded quickly same day to test and then by next morning the parts department was looking to ship a new stylus. Can’t say that about my local store, but this a case of you get what you pay for, I will stick AT moving forward.
