OK. The Australian Organic Food Co Chicken Spelt & Vegetable Soup Pouch is ok for a packet soup, but nothing I would rave about or probably think to buy again in a hurry. It was a convenient option for that sort of night where you don't want to cook. It just wasn't overly wow for me. It could use a touch more flavour. The size of the packet was good and easy to open. Instructions easy to read and it looked appealing on the shelf.

Not too bad. Upon first opening the packet, the smell overwhelmingly reminded me of a jar of baby food. My five year-old grandson, upon first sight, said "that looks yucky". And it does, with bits of vegetables, lentils and chicken swimming in a gloopy liquid. Soldiering on, I added a bit of salt and a 1/4 cup of water before heating it up. Once your taste buds acclimate to the baby food taste, it wasn't too bad accompanied with buttered toast. The grandson agreed that appearances can be deceiving and that he would likely eat it again. Certainly, it's full of wholesome ingredients so it's a healthy convenient option when you're too tired to cook from scratch.

OK - Spelt is a bit weird & rubbery... I love that it's organic and very portable. I took this into work as an easy no-brainer meal. Taste was ok... a touch salty and was expecting to be thirsty later but to my surprise I wasn't at all. The only thing that really took a dive for me were the rubbery bits of spelt throughout. The texture was very strange and it was also a bit chewy. It didn't really add much flavour or value so if this was removed I'd probably have it again. In saying that I was expecting a bit more chicken flavour, considering the "chicken" on the packaging is highlighted over the vegetables. It seemed more like a veggie soup with a tiny bit of chicken base. Anyway, I love that it's got a long shelf life (1 year!) for something that doesn't have any ... MoreOK - Spelt is a bit weird & rubbery... I love that it's organic and very portable. Good for me and the environment. Struggled to find on the shelf to start with, thinking it was likely to be in the refrigerated section rather than in the grocery area with the canned and other soups. A little surprised that the "spelt" grain wasn't mentioned as part of the name of the soup on the front of the package. Otherwise, loved the package, the local origin and the organic and environmental aspects. The soup contents poured easily out of the pouch unlike the messiness that often comes with this type of package. The texture was just right, not too thick or thin with the ingredients easy to identify. The taste was very pleasant and as an entrée size, fed two of us comfortably. Overall, a great quick and convenient option.
Would buy again. Delicious and organic to boot. I had trouble finding this sample. After trying three supermarkets and looking for the words Australian Organic Food Co Chicken Spelt & Vegetable Soup (the emphasis being on the word 'Spelt' as I knew that would stand out) but not finding it, I finally found a label on the shelf for the product using the word spelt in it, but the product was Chicken and Veg soup, no mention of spelt. Knowing if I picked up the wrong item it would not go through as my sample I asked a staff member who looked equally as confused. She scanned the label first with the word spelt on it then the chicken and veg soup packet. My husband tried this and was impressed straight away, he said it was full of flavour, heaps of veg, though there did not appear to be much chicken and he couldn't really taste spelt. He said it was much better than the just veg one we tried and he would definitely buy it again. Easy packaging to open and easy to dispose of. The packet shows a bin and a recycling logo, if you look closely above each one it tells you which country does what. For Australia it is recycle for NZ it says put in the bin. Lots of detail about organic farming and carbon8 that they partner with on the pouch. Product of Australia Organic by the Australian Organic Food company. Needed more flavour. Found on the top shelf and as other Bunchees have said was not labelled with Spelt on the pouch. The colours of the packaging don't stand out as well as some of the popular brands. Priced at $3. 90 and it had a June 2023 use by date. Australian Certified Organic which is a bonus if you are looking for Australian made soup. Heated in the microwave for 2 to 3 minutes. The soup had a decent amount of vegetables but not much chicken. The spelt was a nice little pop in your mouth. The flavours were a bit bland. A convenient snack but definitely not a favourite. I have tasted better packaged soups than this one. I prefer homemade chicken and vegetable soup. Probably handy to keep one in the pantry due to the very long expiry date. Definitely tastes ... MoreNeeded more flavour. Tasty soup. Found easily enough on the top shelf in the soup section. 100% Australian Organic ingredients are used in this chicken and vege soup. , A very creamy and delicious soup. Te chicken was hard to find, but there were lots of nice chunks of different vegetables, including potatoes, carrots, onion, sweet potato, celery and broccoli. Thankyou Bunch and Woolies for my sample of soup, I enjoyed it
Love the spelt but not the sodium. This soup was a mixed bag. The ingredients are great, 91% Australian, nice identifiable veggies and the addition of spelt added such a lovely texture. The biggest issue is the sodium content at a whopping 1000mg per serve! The chicken content, hmm.. was there any? I think that they should rename the product Vegetable and spelt soup with chicken to better represent the contents. I liked the flavours in the soup but there in no way I could eat the whole serve with that much sodium. And if you like eating bread with your soup, your nearly at three quarters of your daily sodium intake! Not a winner in my book. Thanks bunch for the sample.
Quick, easy and nutritious ... ... but not overly tasty! We love soup in my family and I'm often on the lookout for store bought convenient meal options, is I was looking forward to trying this sample. Found in the soup aisle, this pouch was easy to locate and I loved that it wasn't tinned soup! The picture of the soup on the front look hearty and delicious. The very large organic claim was clear and I had hopes of a nutritious healthy product. On opening, the pouch was only half full. Not to be deterred, I transferred the product in to a bowl and it was quite thick. It definitely thinned on heating and I served this to my husband for an easy Sunday night dinner with cheese toasties on the side. It wasn't a huge serve but it was enough. It definitely thinned on heating and I served this to my husband for an easy Sunday night dinner with cheese toasties on the side. It wasn't a huge serve but it was enough. He said the soup wasn't very flavoursome but it was ok. It definitely needed salt and pepper. The main issue though was the texture. Chewy pieces of what I'm assuming was the spelt, made for a not that palatable meal. Overall, it is a quick and easy healthy option but is not the best soup option we've come across. I wouldn't recommend this product and I wouldn't buy it again.
Not for me. I did not have any problem finding this soup on the shelf, there were a lot of them there. This product has a long shelf life, best before Jul 2023 and is priced at $3. 90 a serve. At this price I don’t think that it would be economical to feed a family. The soup itself does not look attractive, and if there is any chicken in it is not noticeable. I did not like the high salt content at 1000mg per serve as that exceeds the recommended adult daily intake. Even with all this salt I did not find that this soup had much flavour and I definitely would not purchase this product.
