The game is honestly so beautiful. That first step out into the forest of Pandora is one of those "Wow..." moments, like they gave you in Elden Ring.I do wish you could choose to play in 3rd person, though. That's one of my primary gripes. I feel more immersed when I can see my character interacting with the world, not just a pair of floating arms. It's the same reason I was turned off from Cyberpunk 2077. Alas, it is first-person only. I wont let it prevent me from playing Avatar, in this case, however, because the rest of the game is interesting enough that I can get past the dumb forced 1st-person camera, no matter how much I despise it.That said, the world is definitely huge. Huuuuge. It can feel overwhelming at times. However, they apparently knew it could ... MoreThe game is honestly so beautiful. Huuuuge. It can feel overwhelming at times. However, they apparently knew it could feel this way, so your character actually unlocks access to transportation quite early on in the story, about the same time you start to feel like you need it, if not even a little before then. It's not a pointlessly huge world, either. There are plenty camps and activities to find spread across the map, with different biomes that provide different materials and ingredients. The large map also feels almost required considering the story focus. I suppose they could have made it work in a more linear way, instead of open world, but it may have taken away from the feeling of restoring a planet and its peoples.Anyway, it's a decent game. It can start to feel repetitive at times, especially if you spend a whole lot of time doing side activities. I recommend breaking up the side stuff with the story, as the story does a decent job of trying to introduce new things into the mix, to keep it from growing too stagnant. Taking a break from the game for a week can also help, after spending a couple dozen hours in it. The same could be said for many games, though, that an intentional break can help prevent burnout.I do notice occasional dips in frame rate, primarily when the game is trying to load a whole area quickly, like when entering a large interior area with many NPCs, but it doesn't happen so frequently that I feel it interferes with the combat or gameplay. If I could give half stars, this rating would probably be a 3.5, but I rounded up instead of down, because I genuinely think it deserves better than a 3. I enjoy the game!

Avatar has been in the public consciousness for 15 years, with 2 hugely successful films, but not a lot else. No TV series, not a lot of merchandise besides the occasional toys and figurines, and the original video game from 2009 that was decent. Suffice to day, there are still a lot of fans of the franchise out there and I totally get it, and hugely surprised there weren't more games set in the Avatar universe. When this game was announced, it looked absolutely beautiful and the world literally felt like Pandora, but I remained a bit skeptical, knowing that Ubisoft was behind this game (and the original for that matter) and havent had the best products the past few years. It felt like they missed the boat missing the release date of Avatar 2 in theaters and on home ... MoreAvatar has been in the public consciousness for 15 years, with 2 hugely successful films, but not a lot else. It felt like they missed the boat missing the release date of Avatar 2 in theaters and on home video to truly take advantage of the synergy, coming out a year after the release of the film, and seeing the game underperform is truly understandable. Mediocre reviews, lack of buzz, a crowded market and more buzzwords affected this games performance, and regularly saw it on sale from its absurdly high $70 price point down to $40 didn't help its case. Suffice to say, i plunked down $40 and generally felt the game was fine, if familar. Graphically, it looks amazing on the PS5, but the framerate suffers severely and you really need to use performance mode to really get a good balance of graphics and framerate that won't drive you mad. But the graphics deliver the world of Pandora well, offering new and classic flora and fauna that simply feel like you're playing a movie. But then you start playing the game. First person shooter with RPG elements, open world design, repetitive missions, and it finally clicks that this is a re-skinned Far Cry game. Far Cry has been "samey" for quite sometime, especially after the fun but familiar and bland Far Cry 6, and I guess Ubisoft just couldn't break away from their mold. It's a fine game, but if you've played any Far Cry game in the last 5-7 years, then you'll be adequately familiar with this title. Not quite worth $40, but if you can grab it for $20, you might have a good time.

I know Ubisoft has bad rap, but I've enjoyed all the Far Cry and Assassins Creed games I've played, maybe it's just me. This is a mix of RPG with FPS but includes more discovery/exploration than the other Ubisoft games.I love this game. I haven't finished yet, but I like it a lot. The gameplay is good (similar to Far Cry series) and I don't care about minitransactions, as I play with what I can get by playing the game (no need cosmetic stuff or to speed-up skills)The environment is like in the movies, with weird animals and plants that react to you. The combat is a bit challenging (I'm not that good gamer on my 50s) but when I get stuck, I just lower the difficulty finish the mission and set it back. The story is compelling (still on early stages so can't talk ... MoreI know Ubisoft has bad rap, but I've enjoyed all the Far Cry and Assassins Creed games I've played, maybe it's just me. I have loved the world of Pandora as depicted in James Cameronâs Avatar films, since I saw the first one in theaters as a child not long after it debuted in theaters. I loved it so much in fact that after I saw it the first time, Avatar The Game for Xbox 360 shot to the top of my birthday wishlist. Make no mistake, I was already well-aware by then that most licensed games were really bad. But nonetheless I couldnât help but want to play a game set on the beautiful moon of Pandora. And to this I have fond memories of both it and the first film. As such I often wondered why the franchise seemed to draw more criticism than praise in the years that followed, and especially leading up to the release of the sequel film over a decade later. As such I often wondered why the franchise seemed to draw more criticism than praise in the years that followed, and especially leading up to the release of the sequel film over a decade later. But nowadays, as an adult who can see the flaws in what I otherwise appreciate, I understand that much of the criticism directed towards the Avatar films revolves around the narrative. Still though, in spite of the mediocre story, I can confidently say that seeing Avatar: The Way of Water 3D in a Dolby Cinemas last year was the single most impressive display of visual and sound design Iâve ever experienced. And it is that legacy of a truly beautiful world vividly brought to life by next-generation technology which I believe is perfectly captured by this game.

This is a really, really good game. Pandora looks beautiful. Exploring and doing jungle parkour feels pretty good. The game is also extremely challenging too but i actually really like that because it makes you feel like a NaâVi. Just a warning for more casual gamers. But that is not why i left only 1 star. i just played the first few quest lines and ran into a bug that prevents me from progressing through the story at the Check on the Zoomey crash site objective and im supposed to talk to the dude but nothing ever happens. I checked online and apparently this happens to other poeople and there is no way around it. Please fix this ASAP ubisoft. Until then I canât recommend spending $70 on this.
Sure, the graphics are great and fluid but the gameplay is lacking. The story is not great either. Your expected to believe that a young alien, with NO training as a warrior is going to be sent on near impossible missions â solo, with a homemade bow. Yeah, right. Next, that weak warrior is going to need to battle with a mechanical warrior AND SEVERAL trained troops â all with machine guns. Oh, and ylu need to guess that you need to shoot at sone small yellow squares to damage that mech warrior â while he us constantly in motion. Of course, youâre immediately discovered and constantly attacked. Forget running away. Itâs not allowed. And thatâs just the first mission. I was never so glad as to get finished with this game. It was typical UBISOFT with the 50+ side quests cut & paste, just renamed each time. The main story was boring & uninteresting. For the most part the voice acting was yuck - something anyone picked off the street could do. The female protagonist voice acting was okay. You couldnât aim the rifle & shotgun & the upgrade & abilities system uninteresting. Iâm not sure why I stuck it out & completed this game. Why UBISOFT continues to cut & paste their side missions is beyond me. Why not cut out 80% of the side missions, make the remaking 20% unique & interesting & spend more time making the main storyline interesting. I would much rather pay $70 for a really good 15 hour game than $70 for a boring, uninteresting 50 ... MoreI was never so glad as to get finished with this game. I hope the Star Wars game UBISOFT is working on that comes out in 2024 is better & an improvement over the typical UBISOFT game. If not, I wonât be wasting any more money on UBISOFT games.
Love this game. Bought it for my husband but it became mine as well. We also got copies for his coworkers. It does have some glitches but work arounds. I love the open world and how it has something for everyone. You can be a warrior attacking every one up front, or go stealth killing from distance or sneaking up on enemies. You can explore and just wander around collecting items or complete mission after mission. There are puzzles and search and find parts. The game is amazing and graphics make it even better. My husband fights the battles for me. While I navigate around and help explore, solve puzzles and upgrade his character. The only thing is we had to do some research for parts of the game. In fact Google was our help throughout the game.
For anyone who liked the film more than a small amount, this is probably the most immersive Pandora experience you can get. The resource collection system feels alive, the combat system has a good scaling from âwhat on earth is going on?â into âoh, theyâre all dead. Niceâ, and the mounts drive exceptionally well (and you can pat one of them!), and the skill tree is well made. Side quests are some of the best parts, and the three areas feel distinct and are well worth exploring. Only one note: more experienced gamers might find the combat of the RDA repetitive or unchallenging, so if youâre looking for grueling combat you might want to look elsewhere, but if you want to be immersed in the world of Pandora and the culture of the Naâvi, well worth the purchase, well ... MoreFor anyone who liked the film more than a small amount, this is probably the most immersive Pandora experience you can get.
