I like this a lot and it's high quality ingredients are reassuring while I sleep on them during the night. I'm a fan of a good hair serum and this is a good one. The dose squirts out of the pump top to be just the right amount for my entire lengths and ends (I don't need much because though I have long hair, it is fine and I don't want to put too much in). After squirting a dose into my hand I rub it around both palms and then wipe it through my lengths and ends. It smells very herbal which I like. It's simple to use and I like that Aveda has matching colour co-ordinated ranges - this one being in a lovely deep green colour.This does make my hair feel healthier and more resilient by the morning. The scent is really lovely to sleep with and it does tend to linger after application too.It's a white serum that spreads easily throughout the hair. It's not oily which is great for a bedtime serum. I do wish I didn't have to use it just before bed time though as I tend to often be too sleepy to bother with something to remember to do before I nod off. Maybe I'm just too lazy when I'm sleepy at night to remember to worry about doing something good for my hair for the next day's benefit, but if you are not then maybe this product is perfect for you. It works really well, that is for sure, and my hair feels great for using it! I was secretly so excited to try this serum as I love experimenting to find my new holy grail hair product, however, sadly this was not to be it.I am really not sure what went wrong. My hair just did not respond. I will continue to use and try different amounts on application, maybe that's my problem. The Aveda botanical repair strengthening overnight serum when rubbed between my fingers preps the perfect amount of strengthening coat for my split ends. In general, I didn't see any big changes with my hair in the morning. My hair was more stiff and it felt heavy.Unlike other products from this range, this one was a huge disappointment to me. Thank you Beauty Heaven and Aveda for the opportunity to review this new hair serum.The Aveda botanical repair strengthening overnight serum is a serum that helps strengthen and repair your hair as well as helping to reduce the appearance of split ends.The serum comes in an attractive 100ml dark green bottle with a pump action. The bottle is 100 percent recyclable. The serum is a clear white colour and has a lovely fragrance made up of ylang-ylang, rose and other plant essences.I feel that this product is designed more for people with longer hair who have split ends and may have more damage than someone with short hair. My hair is short.Having said this, the serum contains natural oils which I felt would benefit my hair and keep it in good condition.The directions say to apply the serum to the ends of your hair and to leave it in overnight. The directions don't advocate applying the serum all through your hair - just to the end lengths. I applied the serum to the ends of my short hair. It is not necessary to rinse out the product, just style as usual in the morning.Used in this way, the results have not been really noticeable at this time. This may have been different if I had longer hair with more damage.The Aveda strengthening serum is suitable for all hair types - fine, medium or thick. It is 99 percent naturally derived, is vegan friendly and is not tested on animals.
I got the Botanical Repair Strengthening Overnight Serum at my last visit to the Lemongrass University Salon in Ft Worth. For the last 5 years only Aveda products touch my hair. I go to the salon every 8 weeks trim color (red) every 16vweeks a balyage with a red overlay and a healthy chop every 2 years. My hair is my obsession and I take very good care of it but I'm also hard on it.This product is the final piece in my perfect hair puzzle. But it looks healthy and no split ends.My hair care routine is: Night before shampoo I use Nutri-Plenish serum ( I may skip this in the future for the Botanical Repair serum, but I don't know yet) Nutri-Plenish deep moisture shampoo, Botanical Repair Strengthening conditioner, Nutri-Plenish treatment mask (new product I haven't tried yet)If I feel I need it, Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave in treatment. Always: Nutri-Plenish Daily Moisturizing treatment, Smooth Infusion Perfect Blow Dry. If I'm curling: Heat Relief thermal Protectant and conditioning mist. Finish sometimes with Air Control.Yes I use a ton of products in my hair, but I also do a lot to my hair...but you can't tell how much I abuse my hair and that is key...because I put more into it than I take out.
