I worked with Aveda products for years and loved them all for the scent and mission behind being natural and sustainable. I left the company and started using other products. I decided I wanted to try the Nutriplenish because Dry Rememdy had been discontinued. I was extremely disappointed. The smell was unpleasant and thankfully mild enough it didn’t linger in my hair. I got the heavy moisture one because I was in Colorado and needed it. After using the whole system, leave in as well my hair felt dryer than when I began washing my hair that evening. My hair was a dry fluff ball mess and I had no choice other than to braid my hair and throw this product away. For how much I spent I am really disappointed at how terrible this was. AWFUL smell!

A clerk at the Aveda store in Oakbrook, IL, recommended this product to me to assist with dry hair. Because I have used other Aveda products and enjoyed them, I decided to take her advice. I put the shampoo in my bathroom closet to use after I had used up the bottle of shampoo already in my shower. The first time I used this I almost choked on the smell; it was that God-awful and STRONG. I thought, perhaps, after rinsing and drying my hair the smell would subside. No such luck. I went to bed and the smell was so intense it kept me awake. So, I had to get up after about 40 minutes to go back into the shower and re-wash my hair with a DIFFERENT shampoo to get the awful hair out.The kicker? The shampoo didn't even moisturize my hair as promised. (Granted, I only ... MoreA clerk at the Aveda store in Oakbrook, IL, recommended this product to me to assist with dry hair. It truly is a gross smell.)Now, because I didn't keep my receipt and, thus, cannot return it, I will have to throw this out. I would not subject a friend to this horrid excuse for a product, so I am not giving it away. Heck, I wouldn't wash a dog's hair with this stinky cocktail of chemicals.

After 3 tries I found a replacement for Color Conserve

I was sad when the Color Conserve was discontinued because I had used it for years, so I needed to find a replacement. I felt like Goldilocks, after trying the Control Color, which smelled awful and didn't make my hair feel great, and trying the Botanical Repair Strengthening, which made my hair feel stiff, I finally used the Nutriplenish Deep Moisture Shampoo, third product was "just right". The smell is not great, but it does make my hair feel good. I use it along with the Control Color Conditioner, which smells very nice. The combination of the two products is just right for my thick, straight, highlighted hair.

Depends on Your Hair...
21 September 2020

This product is super moisturizing... which is maybe what you need for your hair! But I'm disappointed because I was recommended this product through Live Chat with an Aveda representative and it totally doesn't work for my hair.I have untreated, long, fine, straight hair and a dry, flaky scalp, but also oily roots. I informed the Aveda representative my two main concerns: a balanced scalp and a conditioner that can help with tangles. The conditioner definitely helps with the tangles, but is so moisturizing that right out of the shower my hair appears oily at the roots and leaves a residue at the base of my scull unless I very thoroughly rinse my hair. The representative also recommended pramāsana for my flaky, dry scalp, which totally works wonders! But if your hair type is more like mine, I'd look for another Aveda product.

Do not use. Does cause hair loss.
8 September 2024

Definitely causes hair loss! Do not use. I didn't believe the previous reviews stating this, so I tried it anyways. It, unfortunately is true. I have very long, thick, dry hair. Went into store for consultation and this product was recommended. I stopped using after about 2 months. Had purchased large bottles of shampoo & conditioner for over $300. What a waste of money!

Great for Middle Eastern & South Asian hair
24 February 2024

I’ve noticed the negative reviews are largely people who have fine hair - this is NOT for people with fine hair. It’s been designed for coarser textured hair. I was recommended this by Aveda counter originally. I’ve very long, thick hair and most shampoos will make my roots greasy or the ends too dry - this doesn’t do that. My hair feels great!

I would not buy this product again
21 April 2024

I purchased this product in 2023 and my hair was very healthy and longer than it is now. Like others I used it according to the instructions and after a few washes I noticed my hair was shedding more and more, I assumed it was just the norm because I would have some shedding in the past but now looking at the reviews on here I can honestly say that it was the product. My hair is so much shorter than it was a year ago.I would not recommend using this product if you want to keep your hair.

No lather but nice scent
23 April 2024

I think this is working... My hair is softer and less greasy in London hard water, I wanted something that would repair my hair as its colour/bleach damaged. I've been stopped for how nice my hair smells having used this, but my biggest problems is that it doesnt really lather well so I feel like I'm using more than I should and it's an expensive product! I also think because it doesn't lather it makes me believe my hair is less clean!? Maybe that's just me. I've been using it with the matching conditioner, leave in conditioner and a lot of Moroccan oil (which I think is my fave hair product! and more recommended than this shampoo and cond) my hair does feel softer without smoothing/styling!

Not for me

This line of products is amazing unfortunately I made a huge mistake and bought the deep moisturizing line of shampoo versus the light moisture shampoo. When I finally used this product I realized this bottle looked different from my conditioner (I bought this first sometime in February). So when I finally tried my shampoo with my conditioner I was sadly disappointed. This is definitely moisturizing but the smell is much stronger than the light line of pomegranate products. So much so I got nauseated and I started getting a headache. I'm sensitive to strong smells or oils used in products so I tend to steer clear especially of deep moisturizing products since my hair tends to fall flat. Hopefully next time I will be more careful when ordering products from the pomegranate line. Pay attention to the lighter colored bottles as well as deep moisture and light moisture. I have a tendency to miss minor details that can be rather frustrating for me when following directions. IT's a good product I'm sure just not for me. I don't recommend this deep moisture line only because of the heavy handed oils and smells this carries. I prefer light moisture.

This made my hair very very heavy
19 December 2023

I bought shampoo and conditioner, and I thought it was my imagination and took 3rd try. I just washed my hair, and it made it so heavy. My hands are greasy, just touching my hair. I am going to ask for a refund. This is just the worst. I don't know how any people thing this is a good shampoo I feel like I put some heavy cream all over. My hair feels so greasy and heavy that the top of my head looks flat. When I put my hand to touch my hair, it feels greasy and not silky at all. I have long black hair, and this is no doubt the worst shampoo and conditioner I have ever used. Whoever is the decision maker of Aveda to change whatever the products that worked for decades should be let go.
