I really love this product from Aveda. I know I have a very lengthy list of my fav Aveda products but I just can’t help it. This is definitely in my top five for sure. It does exactly what it claims. Light weight but adds volume. I have fine hair but a lot of it and it tends to just flop onto my head and really has almost no volume on its own. Add some phomollient styling foam and BAM you have amazing volume! No weird film left behind on your hair and I really enjoy the smell also! Volume will last for hours and can be touched up beautifully with some hair spray!

This product does not give me any volume at all, while using 3-4 pumps of the product. I do find that it doesn’t weigh hair down at all, which would be nice if it offered volume. It does smell nice, and makes my hair feel smooth when applied. I may just be using this product wrong but it doesn’t do anything special to my hair beside making it smell good. This product makes my hair feel very light, kind of like when you get a new haircut. There are just other products that offer more than this does.

I have used this product for over 15 years for my fine hair. The change to all vegan removed several ingredients including honey. Previously, I used 3-4 pumps on my roots and would see a dramatic lift, even air drying my hair. I would finger through while hanging upside down, that was it.Now, it takes 6-7 pumps and I don't see much effect anymore. I like that it does not have a crunchy hold, nice smell, and controls frizz. The volume just isn't there anymore, and I can't tell much of a difference when I use this product or not.

The scent is wonderful! I actually felt calmer with the scent wafting around me. I liked how my curls looked post-application and air-dried but overall there was too much fluffy. Lots of wispiness. Others have said they got great lift with this product but I did not; even though I used clips at the crown while my hair dried that little bit of oomph fell flat when I took out the clips. I’ve used Bumble & Bumble surf foam mousse with great success but because it is expensive I use it maybe once a week and on most days use a combo of a cheaper gel and mousse. I had a travel size of Phomollient so tried it out but am not won over. Really can’t believe I fell for the hype. This product doesn’t do anything. I have short thin hair and hoped to get a product that would add volume to my hair but it does nothing and is a waste of money. Cheap store brands do better. Really disappointed. Last purchase because presenters made it seem to work wonders. No it just gives you something else to wash out of your hair.
I've used Phomollient for years, probably over a decade, and have always loved the light hold on my fine wavy hair. My last bottle didn't seem to work properly, then the one I just bought smells disgusting. It never used to have Pure-fume in it before which is why I could use it joyfully. No more! Honestly, I'm dieing to try some of the other products too, but everything now has Pure-fume in it, yuck! Why? I know it's Aveda's trademark, but not all ove us can stand nerulli and ylang-ylang and all those spicy smells. Phomollient was always light, not spicy, maybe a little citrus, not very distinct, but pleasantly sweet. No longer, now to find a new root lift mouse somewhere else. Sigh.
This is good for putting some volume into the hair and for a bouncy type blow dry. I like that it is a more natural product and the pump dispenser works well and is easy to control. The scent is natural spa, like most Aveda products. I knocked off one star because it feels sticky when applying it and feel I need to wash my hands before blowdrying, however I don't get left with any stickiness on the hair itself. Despite my hair being really fine, the product feels light, doesn't wear it down and leaves it looking healthy.
I am so glad that this product is still around. I've been using it off and on for years but wanted to experiment with other styling products. I can honestly say, none of the products I tried can compare to the Phomollient. The light and airy foam is deceptively strong; even holding up in the humidity without weighing my hair down. It still has that wonderful musk scent and remember and zero buildup when I shampoo. I can't recommend it enough!

When i got back to where I was staying, I called the salon and asked what products the stylist used on my hair. She used the Nutriplenish light shampoo, condition, leave in condition and Phomollient (mouse for styling). I checked QVC and was happy to see that they sell the products and ordered them. My hair feels just as good as it did the day of my hair cut! I would highly recommend these products. Someone mentioned that the products smelled bad, the Phomollient doesn't have a great scent, but it's not horrible and my hair does not smell. it just looks soft and shiny! I use this daily without accumulating gunk from multiple uses of hairspray. Use this on towel dried hair right out of shower. And then daily until next shower. I have very light grey hair, and it is very short. No discolor to gray hair. It does work on dry hair. For stronger hold if needed a light coat of a hairspray over the Phomollient will work. Personally, hairspray makes my scalp itch so I stay away from it whenever I can. Aveda Phomollient allows me to go without hair spray.
