I have always thought of Aveda as a luxury product that was out of my price range. I'm now 9 months postpartum and decided that I would treat myself to some luxury and help my always-oily hair get some new life.I originally came to Aveda looking for the Scalp Benefits and was directed to this, it's replacement. I was excited to try it.It came out of the bottle looking white and creamy, with maybe a bit of shimmer. That was where the luxury experience ended. It felt (and smelled) like trying to wash my hair with sunscreen. I couldn't distribute it through my shoulder length hair, and needed 3 quarter-sized dollops to actually lather it through. I gave this line a chance. I really did, I'm down to empty bottles of the shampoo, conditioner, and the exfoliating product. My hair is greasy and almost sticky after using this product. My dry scalp and build is back tenfold and my hair always feels dirty. Unfortunately I can no longer purchase hair products from Aveda after using this product line. I am dreading the fact that I have to purchase again so that I can use "something" until I find a new line. Please bring back scalp benefits..please please please. The other scalp serum from Pramasana (I think that is the name) screwed upwards to open the top so that it poured out. I hope I make sense in what I'm saying. This new bottle you have to take the whole cap off to use and it bothers me. I had a teeny tiny bit of scalp benefits left over and WHAT A DIFFERENCE in one wash...like blown away at the texture of my hair. It felt like the good ole days of using the scalp benefits line. Ugh!

Disappointed my greasy scalp has returned ):
26 June 2023

I tried this shampoo as a replacement for thescalp benefits balancing shampoo that has recently vanished from online retailers and stores (was it discontinued?) but I am extremely disappointed with my results. This shampoo is nowhere close to as effective as it's predecessor. I have had chronic greasy scalp/hair since puberty that has followed me into adulthood. My clean hair NEVER lasted more than a day UNTIL I started using the Scalp Benefits shampoo that was recommend to me by a hair dresser. That shampoo worked WONDERS for my hair and SCALP! I have been testing out this new shampoo for a little over a month and it is completely ineffective in tackling my grease. I have been testing out this new shampoo for a little over a month and it is completely ineffective in tackling my grease. At first I thought I just needed to give my scalp time to adjust to something new. But the formula itself is super oily and slick. Even after I rise out the shampoo from my hair I am left with a wax like coating. It's really been weighing my hair down which is not what I need since I already have very fine FLAT straight hair. My clean hair appearance barely lasts a day now since I started using this shampoo. I'm so frustrated that ONCE AGAIN I have to embark on the near impossible task of finding a shampoo that vanquishes grease.

Disappointment, Again

After years of being a happy customer of scalp benefits I tried this new product and was extremely disappointed. It does not treat dandruff. Why take away a product that works and replace it with something that doesn't? Did you ever ask anyone with dandruff to try the new product? As the other reviewers said it leaves your hair limp and greasy after several uses and my scalp was itchy within just a few days. I don't know what's going on with Aveda... But when you have a product that works you just don't yank it away from your customers. If you want to introduce something new, go ahead-you can have "strong" and a "mild" versions for people with different scalp concerns. I'm also angry that you canceled my account. I had a gazillion points and I went to buy something at your store yesterday and they said it's no longer active. And I've lost all my points. I was saving those for YEARS for a spa treatment. Hey, I'm sorry I didn't come in for a long time; there was a pandemic going on. I was getting my Aveda products from an online source. But I was excited to return to the store recently. So you are really striking out with me after years of being a loyal customer. Please bring back scalp benefits.

Felt like my scalp was burning
21 July 2023

I have used Aveda for years. I've been using scalp benefits which I had to switch over to as the other scalp shampoo they had prior had been discontinued. Once again, I have found the scalp benefits had been discontinued and this is the alternative. I shampooed my scalp and it felt so hot I was so worried and my scalp feels tender. I rinsed off and read the label and there's menthol in this. A common irritant to skin. Probably not the best ingredient to add to a shampoo targeted towards caring for the scalp. I am really disappointed that not only was my usual shampoo discontinued but I had to buy an inferior product for an increased price. Oh and they don't offer liter sizes for some new shampoos. Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVED Scalp Benefits and am super sad Aveda discontinued it, but I personally think this new product is not as terrible as other reviews claim!I had used Scalp Benefits religiously for the past 4 years. I was unaware of the discontinuation of the Scalp Benefits line until I went to my local Aveda salon to purchase more. Without reading reviews, I purchased the new Scalp Solutions line, which I was informed was designed to replace Scalp Benefits. After using Scalp Solutions for a couple of weeks, here are some Pros and Cons I have found.Pros:-My hair is super shiny! (Even more than before)-My hair is super soft! (Even more than before)-Just like Scalp Benefits, this new product does a great job at balancing my scalp - but at the cost of slightly over-hydrating it. (Con below)-I personally enjoy the scent more than Scalp Benefits.Cons:-More expensive than Scalp Benefits!-Bottles are smaller than Scalp Benefits!-Shampoo does not lather as well as Scalp Benefits! (See my personal fix for this below!)-New product is not offered in 1L bottles.-New product is slightly more hydrating than Scalp Benefits.I hate it when shampoos don't lather! My hair is super thick, so I t makes me feel like I have to use more product in order to accurately clean my hair. Scalp Solutions will lather, just not as much as Scalp Benefits. To avoid having to use more *expensive* product, I personally will use a drug store shampoo to take away some of the dirtiness before applying the Scalp Solutions shampoo. I also don't like hydrating shampoos or conditioners as they over-hydrate my hair, leaving residue or causing my hair to appear oily. With Scalp Benefits, I typically had to apply dry shampoo on day three. With Scalp Solutions, I am still applying dry shampoo on day three, but I am having to use more dry shampoo than before. All things considered - I like the new Scalp Solutions, but would prefer Scalp Benefits!

Love the smell and lather

At first I was super disappointed with both the performance of this product and also how puny it seemed. I had hoped this had a lot of lather like scalp benefits. I had also expected a cooling sensation like rosemary mint. But when I first used this product it did/had neither of those. But then I tried it again, using a small amount and really massaging it into the scalp on the top of my head, and then a small amount, really massaging into the scalp on the underside of my hair at the nape of my neck and at the hairline behind my ears. This time the lather was super rich and foamy; the cooling effect set in and I could really feel the spearmint. I now enjoy taking the time the give myself a thorough scalp massage. It makes my hair shiny and super manageable; moisturized and feels healthy.

Not as clean, not as calming, and subject build up of oil over the long term.I've never understood how a shampoo like Scalp Benefits could be so deep cleansing with literally zero downsides (i.e., no drying no matter how long you use it). Nevertheless, it's once again discontinued for a product that doesn't work the same. I haven't given up on the possibility that Aveda will bring it back again, but after trying all of Aveda's "most popular" shampoos and "replacement" shampoos , I think I've exhausted their product line. If they don't bring it back, it'll be time to move on from this brand unfortunately.

Please bring back Scalp Benefits!!
8 July 2023

It seems that every 5 years or so, Aveda discontinues their Scalp Benefits line and replaces it with another line (this time, it's Scalp Solutions). I know this because I have been using Aveda's Scalp Benefits Shampoo and Conditioner exclusively for the past 15+ years. Aveda, you bought back Scalp Benefits before, after discontinuing it for a short period of time. Please bring it back again! Now that I'm at a loss because I need Scalp Benefits but I can't buy it. I was given some Scalp Solutions samples to try out, as I was told that this line replaced the Scalp Benefits line.Unfortunately, the Scalp Solutions shampoo didn't work for me. It doesn't lather well and it leaves the skin around my eyes burning from the mint extract (?) that was added to the formulation of the shampoo. The cool burning sensation is very unpleasant, to the point where it's actually painful. The reason why i loyally purchased Aveda Scalp Benefits is because it is the ONE shampoo line that controls my hairline eczema and severe eczema from my hands (since I need to touch the shampoo to wash my hair).Without Scalp Benefits, I'm at a loss. It's almost impossible to find a shampoo that's as well formulated for individuals with very specific scalp conditions. I know many others are experiencing a loss with Scalp Benefits being replaced byScalp Solutions. Please bring back what works for us, as many of us have limited options of hair care lines that we can choose from. Why discontinue something that was so awesome and also helped so many people?
