Avène Thermal Spring Water originates from rain and travels through the Cévennes Mountain aquifer for 50 years before being bottled in the village of Avène. Its soothing and anti-irritating properties have been validated through therapies at the Avène Hydrotherapy Centre, effectively helping with atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and burns. Numerous studies have confirmed its benefits, including relief from redness, itching, and irritation, and revitalising skin. It is suitable for babies, children, and adults with sensitive skin or eczema. This water stands out due to its unique mineral composition, which is low in minerals and has a neutral pH, containing bicarbonate, calcium, magnesium, and beneficial trace elements. The Pierre Fabre Laboratories have discovered that it also possesses a unique microflora, Aqua Dolomiae, which enhances its soothing properties. Dr. Webster recommends Avène Thermal Spring Water for its consistent mineral composition that softens skin.

I got this in my August allure beauty box and it's a nice choice for summer. I got the 1.6oz travel size which retails for $9. There's a 5oz for $14 and $10.1oz for $18.50. I get flushed and over heated from a medical condition so I started using this in the fridge and sprayed my face and neck when hot. I didn't find it cooling beyond the first cold blast, and then I didn't like the droplets on my face. I saw in the instructions it could soothe skin after shaving, and my legs have been super irritated now that it's the end of summer and I've been shaving more than usual the last 3 months. The first spray was soothing for a short amount of time. The second time I sprayed my legs closer so they got wet and rubbed it in and this was a little more soothing, but awkward ... This has been ok and I'll definitely enjoy finishing it, but this just seems an unnecessary purchase honestly even for under $20 for 10oz. I used to have to spray bottle with battery operated/removable fan on top that while bulkier and harder to travel with works better to cool off. I use it at the beach and outdoor concerts. You will never make more friends at an outdoor concert venue than when you have one! And it's well under $20.

I was skeptical at first, but after buying a bottle at Ulta while they had a nice coupon going on I’m convinced that this will be an essential step to my skincare routine! Your skin absorbs other products better when it’s still wet. I love how fine the mist is from this bottle, and it’s literally just nice water. After patting it in it dries within a few minutes minute and leaves my face feeling baby soft and smooth. I also spray before putting on skin soothing toner, then my face lotion, layering while my face is still wet. There’s also no smell to it, so it really is perfect for people with sensitive skin.

After trying other brands of this type of mineral water facial mist, Avene remains my favorite. I ordered the smaller size to take with me but I intend to purchase the larger one to keep in my bathroom. The nozzle dispenses a very fine mist and I haven’t had any problems with it sticking or coming loose. A great product. I like to mist my face, neck and chest area with it before applying moisturizer. There is no scent of any kind.

This water spray really surprised me! It was super hydrating and calming. I love to use this morning and night after cleansing for a smooth hydrated base before I apply my other skincare products. My sensitive skin had a reaction to another product, and after spraying this I definitely saw a visible improvement in the irritation and the redness completely went away. The spray is so refreshing, I love having this bottle on my bedside table to really wake me up in the morning or spray during the night to cool down. I can already tell this is going to be a staple for me in summer. Although the bottle is quite large, it’s easy to hold and use and you get a lot of product! Otherwise, I have not thought very highly of splashing water on my face. If it's not about washing your eyes in the morning. However, I got this product for free with another product and then I tried it. And was very positively surprised. I have dry and sensitive skin and this spray had a great soothing effect on the irritations. Since the bottle was small and ran out quickly, I tried another company's, which was not half as good, the skin remained tight. So, there's something about it that works.
This is not a crock if you use it as intended and have appropriate expectations. This should not be used as a moisturizer alone as it is just WATER! Water alone left to dry on the skin will simply evaporate and take some of the water in your skin WITH IT (transepidermal water loss), thus potentially being more drying. However, the minerals in thermal water are thought to be beneficial for skin, such as by reducing inflammation, protecting against sun damage, moisturizing, etc (keeping in mind there are only a handful of flawed studies researching this). The proper way to use thermal water spray is to follow-up immediately with an occlusive moisturizer. It will lock the beneficial thermal water into your skin thus plumping your skin and increasing hydration ... MoreThis is not a crock if you use it as intended and have appropriate expectations. The proper way to use thermal water spray is to follow-up immediately with an occlusive moisturizer. It will lock the beneficial thermal water into your skin thus plumping your skin and increasing hydration (temporarily, of course). In my personal experience, I have found that prepping my skin with Avene thermal water before moisturizing has increased the moisture levels in my skin on a day-to-day basis. I use either Cerave PM or First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer (followed with sunscreen).
Meh, what can I say-- personally I think it's a bit of a gimmick to sell water in a spray can. Not only is it wasteful for our environment, but it's not really a necessary step in your routine. I get that water in spray format might come in handy with makeup, and that's about the only time I've found this to be truly helpful. It is nice to spray a bit on your blending sponges or on your brushes to help the product 'stick' provide a more 'translucent', even finish. Other than that, this product doesn't contain any ingredients that are going to 'tone' your skin or provide really any beneficial skincare progress. Instead of adding an unnecessary product to your routine, just dip your brushes/sponges in tap (or filtered) water for the same effect. I personally prefer to ... I personally prefer to stick to a true 'toner' that is pH balancing and meant for treatment vs. niche. I don't hate this product by any means, it's just not necessary. Recommend? Nah. Save the money ( environment)
I purchased this to use after getting a face peel. I read about it and wanted to try it. I needed to keep moisture on my face, and it was said to be good for cooling down your skin after a face peel. So I purchased 2 bottles in preparing for my procedure. Let me Honesty tell you, that Avene is a Skin Game Changer ! It truly cooled my skin and gave it the moisture it needed during my recovery period. Anytime my skin began to heat up again, I sprayed some all over my face, and it worked like a miracle. When my face began to feel tight and dry, I used it then as well. This stuff really works, it's Amazing. I keep it on hand even now, in case of a sunburn, or just because of dryness. Avene Thermal Springwater really impressed me. I was curious and had to give it a try, but was skeptical. This water is amazing! It hydrates my skin throughout the day. It relieves the tight feeling associated with dry skin and makes my skin feel soft and smooth. Spraying overtop of foundation or sunscreen does not disrupt facial products. It’s a Read more about review stating More than water!100% winner for me. I can only imagine how great it will be in the winter months and have already purchased backups.
