The main reason I got this was for the overlay that holds the tiles in place. We play as a family and my 6 year old tends to knock her board around often. This works very well for the tiles, but not for the score tracker. The score tracker slots are too small and does does not prevent it from sliding around. We used smaller tokens from a different game and the worked all right. I was hoping the overlay would be more solid, but it's just vacuum formed plastic.The new boards are interesting and adds a little variety, but you get the feeling they were just added to justify the price of the board overlays.In the end though, I am still happy I made the purchase as it has improved the experience of playing the game.

Bought this as an addition to Azul. Love it and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Azul. I am a little bit OCD and this is great as all pieces are held in place now and its much tidier and safe from the cat when she decides to leap on the board! There are additional free flow boards with it which are challenging. Thanks Game Kings for continuing to fuel my game addition :-)

2 more boards and a board overlay

This is a simple, but in my not so humble opinion a necessary expansion if you love azul and have a lot of games under your belt, i will recommend this cuz it gives some minor twerks to the same game, just a couple of bonus here and there in the new boards and a new layout for the penalties.Finally the overlays, well they work, as they are supposed to, wouldve wanted carved boards, but for the price they are excelent.10 out 10 expansion

A must have for neat freaks.

This does exactly what it says and keeps your boards clean and organized. And the extra boards are a great bonus. We won't play without them.

Azul. gaming

I always loved the name as it is blue and spanish. it can be entertaining tho sadly not all my 'game playing friends' want to bother with it as it is a bit mathematical and has limited fun appeal frankly. i would say it is definately not an artistic game for artistic creative people. it is too structured for that and it is very expensive to buy, there is little room for creativity when playing it. at all. I was surprised my husband played it about 6 times with me, but has now stopped. Azul: Crystal Mosaic Expansion

The overlays are great for keeping your tiles and scoring marker in place. The new boards provide new strategies to keep things fresh if you're tired of the existing boards. Worth getting since this is relatively cheap.

Great addition to the base game!

One of the main complaints that my husband and I had with Azul is that it was too easy. These game boards solve that problem! We haven't played it much yet but it's definitely harder and more complicated. Not sure our 9 and 11 year old will be able to play these boards for a while but I definitely like the increased difficulty.

Meh

There's really not much to this expansion. The plastic recessed boards are okay, but feel flimsy and don't hold onto the cradboard backers too well. The expansion boards are very simple and don't add much. This expansion is only for the fanatic of Azul.

Quality game.

Great game. Good way to teach older children about thinking ahead and planning. Good quality and feel to the board and pieces. Highly recommended.

The Expansion is simply for vanity

I love Azulejo which is why I bought this, but honestly it’s a vain waste of money. There is nothing significantly adding to the experience here. But if you’re like me and have some money to burn to make your already pretty game that much prettier… go ahead and pull the trigger.
