This is probably the best mobile controller you can buy. The analog sticks feel great, the fave buttons are tactile and responsive, the triggers have good travel, and irs very easy to put a phone in the grip, and includes adapters if you havw a bulky case, so no need to take your phone out of its case like other controllers. The only major downside is the D-Pad is a bit mushy, and the capture button doesn’t support iOS’s native screen recording and you have to “broadcast” to the Backbone app to record gameplay. Speaking of the Backbone app, irs a very well made launcher for your mobile titles, but dont waste time on the pointless subscription service, and rhe social features are pretty half baked with no users. Overall a great controller. Highly recommended.

I did a lot of research before buying the Backbone 1. I knew that the Playstation Portal was about to come out but it was going to be $100 more. I read about the Portal's limitations and decided to buy the Backbone. The portal is harder ro find, more expenaive and you'd need a very good quality wifi connection in order to even load your game. The decision was a no brainer. I would recommend this to a friend (as a matter of fact, I did!)

So the Backbone One is absolutely fantastic as a normal phone controller, and most importantly it works with every remote play service that's available on phone (including PS Remote Play, but that may only be for the Playstation edition). It comes with two different kinds of phone spacer to give it a snug fit with most phones even with their cases attached (the Samsung Flip phones may not fit due to their length) and works pretty much out of the box without even needing to download the optional Backbone app. However, and I can't find a way to fix this, it doesn't seem to have a "guide" button present. The big orange button only seems to work with PS Remote Play, and only if you hold it down for a second. For the other services it doesn't function at all, and if you install the Backbone app it just opens that app instead of performing a useful function. There's no button reassignment feature too, so you have to just switch to the touchscreen when you actually want to use the guide button. It's not the biggest issue, but it's a constant annoyance.

Amazing product. use it with my iPhone 15 pro max + apple case. Fits perfectly. knocked off one star for the joy-con like joystick, but this is much better than playing with the touch screen! Remote play with the ps5 works really well when Im sitting on the couch and my family is using the TV. PS portal may have a higher resolution screen, but this solution is more than half the price of that item.
The PlayStation Portal offers an immersive gaming experience with a diverse library of titles. Its user-friendly interface and seamless navigation enhance the gaming journey. However, occasional server issues can disrupt the online aspect. Overall, a compelling platform for gaming enthusiasts seeking a vast array of interactive entertainment.
Short and sweet: I love the construction of the product, the app, and how well they’re integrated. It’s very easy to pick up, set up, and start gaming. My only problem lies with the construction of the backbone. It feels a tad bit flimsy at times, although not at all times. Outside of that, I wish the analog sticks were full sized instead of the sticks that resemble those of the Switch. I ended up returning them for that reason alone and would buy them again as a backup, or when they add more options for the analog sticks.
This is way better than the Switch and costs so much less.Got the Switch to relax when I'm on the go but Mario kart proved to be too hype for my heart rate, and cost of their other games are ridiculous considering some need internet connection so can only be played with WiFi. And can only use their charger and tv adaptersThe backbone is super easy to set up and can be used anywhere, I can play all my PS games plus others from Xbox live and my phone. Doesn't need to be charged, very light and portable. Such a great value. Wish they had the PS version in black but the gray gives original PS nostalgia vibes so I'm still happy!
I bought the USB-C version to work with my iPhone 15 Pro Max as The Backbone website states that it works with the new iPhone 15 lineup but as soon as I plug in the device, nothing happens. I can charge my phone through it but it does not work at all.Because of Apple’s new technology, the controller won’t recognise the iPhone 15 before the firmware is updated. If you connect to any Android phone and launch the Backbone App, it should take about 30 seconds to update and fix. 👍If you don’t have an android device for it to install the new firmware then you have to return it to Backbone to get a new one. This isn’t Very’s fault. There’s a small amount of units with the older firmware deeming it unusable for the new iPhone 15 lineup.
Got on sale for 70, much more solid feeling than i thought. Couple things though. If you want to do os remote play you MUST get the white playstation edition controller. The obly way to play playstation remote on the black controller is by huying a third party app. This white controller does everything including xbox so theres no reason the black one should even exist. Also, if youre thinking about gettinf the ps portal console theres literally no reason to do that after buyinf this. Save the money and get this.
It is not a solid controller if you expected console controller quality, this is closer to a nintendo joycon. The controller is solid if you expected something better than a touch screen and a light weight well balanced setup for on the go.cons:-40 dollars subscription a year for a front end mobile app-no haptic feedback-no Bluetooth-no built-in battery-$100pros:-works with a regular size phone case-plug and play on supported games-light weight-good software support-feels more solid and sturdy than a Nintendo joycon setup
