All Schar products are certified Low Fodmap by Monash University, the world leading research centre on IBS triggers etc. Fodmaps are certain carbohydrates like sucrose, lactase, etc which instead of getting digested in the small intestine with everything else, slip through to the large intestine where they ferment causing horrible bloating, wind, pain and other nasty conditions if you have IBS. Knowing it is Low Fodmap just makes shopping that bit easier as you dont have to check it. Anyone who has to have gluten free plus low Fodmap not alsways the same thing knows that the bread and cake products available to them are limited and wont taste or feel like good organic home made bread or even artisan bread. But this is preferable to all the unpleasant symptoms of IBS ... MoreAll Schar products are certified Low Fodmap by Monash University, the world leading research centre on IBS triggers etc. Fodmaps are certain carbohydrates like sucrose, lactase, etc which instead of getting digested in the small intestine with everything else, slip through to the large intestine where they ferment causing horrible bloating, wind, pain and other nasty conditions if you have IBS. Im afraid I dont understand the smart packaging, it comes in a plastic bag like everything else. I give it five stars because it tastes nice and is thinly sliced, which is just what I need for lunch. Its a bit waxy and Id hesitate to use it for bruschetta where rough edges and a bit of chew are what you want, but for a Reubens this is perfect. I wish they did just wheat I dont really need the rye.

I wont beat around the bush, it isnt like normal bread, but in my opinion it definitely isnt bad either I like it I feel like schars priority is the taste, and I like its taste. Ive tried a few gluten free breads and this is the best Ive tried. Its pretty dense, Id say more dense than normal bread. I found its very dry as bread, but on the plus side it doesnt really crumble as Ive heard other gluten free bread does. And nevertheless, I still eat it as bread despite its dryness as that doesnt bother me too much now Im more use to it having said this many might think its better as toast I do think its particularly good as toast. And if you add toppings to it like peanut butter, I personally think its lovely, and it tastes less like GF bread toast in my opinion with ... MoreI wont beat around the bush, it isnt like normal bread, but in my opinion it definitely isnt bad either I like it I feel like schars priority is the taste, and I like its taste. This bread has a really lovely subtle sourdough flavor that I really enjoy. However, it is unreasonably small. I mean that slices are about the size of my palm. I had to pack two sandwiches for an average day just to get the equivalent of normal bread sizing, which burns through the pack very quickly. Its a shame, because it might otherwise be my preferred taste
Nice flavour and tastes better that most breads, but still lacking a bit of that sourdough flavour. Was expecting a bit more after reading the reviews.
Tastes ok but the slices arent much bigger than a cracker Plus half the loaf had a massive hole through the middle. Not great.
It is ok but not at all what I hoped for. Has a sweet, not tangy edge. Still searching for a sliced rye that tastes of rye but isnt mega dense
this is dense, darkish and heavy like proper rye bread. tastes nice. really has to be toasted to enjoy as personally i dont think its suitable for sandwiches. the shape of the bread makes it hard to toast as one end always sticks out of the top so you have to rotate the bread in toaster but not a big deal. tastes lovely with smashed avocado and poached eggs. on balance, it is probably a little too dense for me prefer Bertinet Sourdough but this is a nice bread
I found it quite dry, not the best bread nor even good rye bread, I didnt like the texture and some slices had weird gritty bits in them.
I like the gluten free element but not all the extra ingredients, you can get gluten free rye bread without all this does really good toast
