I love Bandai's line of Star Wars models, both vehicles and characters. The one flaw with the Vader model is the plastic cape. The Phasma kit comes with your choice of plastic or textile cape, the Kylo Ren kit comes with a rubbery material that moves well and has the right sheen, but with the Vader kit you just get the plastic cape, and to me it just looks bad. If you poke around on eBay you'll probably find sellers offering a fabric cape meant to fit the Bandai kit (I did), or you could scavenge one from a Black Series figure, or you could buy $1.50 of black fabric and cut one out yourself. Other than that, just another fine Bandai kit. The articulation is more limited with this one, but the look is dead on. He looks more like Darth Vader than anything I've seen so far. It was fun putting it together, took about 3 hrs build time, but I wasn't at it for the entire time either... The two main problem's I had with this is, false advertising kinda??? On the box it shows everything is colored, when you get it, every piece is black EXCEPT for the lightsaber blade... some of the stickers were too big, I'm going to try the Water Decals on this one but I had to paint a few spots on this myself... debating about painting the lightsaber handle. But either way... I'd give this thing a solid 4.5 out of 5 if I had to rate it. Favorite star wars character. looks great when built. Stickers packaged with it are a bit hard to apply so painting or waterslide decals would be recommended. Plastic cape and robe pieces are also hard to work with.
Fun to assemble and paint. The only reason it's not getting full stars is because the Cape let's the build down.
The wiring and soldering was great. The directions were clear. Just wish the pictures were better.

Bandai is a very quality product. Its fun and entertaining at a great price. And when youre done, you have an awesome looking display piece for years to come.
This is my first Bandai kit and i have to say its awesome. I can see why those kits have so many build videos and reviews on youtube etc. It really looks like in the movies. Quality of parts is great, its easy to put together when you pay attention to instructions (they now have english not just japanese) and oh boy the level of detail is outstanding. I skipped most of the stickers and waterslides and painted most of the details with Revel Enamel colors and it looks really good. Im no model builder so anyone can do this. You can see on photos that there is much more you can do with detailing if you want to. Its not action figure so you have to be litlle bit more gentle with it and its pretty light but that is to be expected with model kit.
