Baracuda Tracker Auto Pool Cleaner

The Baracuda Tracker is a turbine-driven mechanical pool suction cleaner. It’s compact in size yet demonstrates an ultra powerful and efficient clean. The manoeuvrability of the Tracker enables it to reverse in and out of tight corners where traditional disc cleaners may become stuck. The Tracker simply connects to the skimmer box similarly to other suction pool cleaners.

A little workhorse that does what it says it will!

After looking around at automatic pool cleaners, reviews, different models etc I went the Bunnings Baracuda. He’s been running 8 hrs a day the past month and he just keeps on keeping on. He has an agitator on the bottom which stirs up the silt before sucking it straight up to the filter. I’m also using a leaf catcher pre-pump. He hooks straight into and runs off the filter pump so he’s literally plug and forget. He doesn’t get stuck on the steps or damage any of the fittings and his tracks are sturdy (like a tank) and he powers through. He travels 3 metres one way, turns, travels 3 another and Criss-crosses covering the whole pool. He climbs walls easily (but I suppose that’s pump dependant, I’m using a 1.25hp pump) and does exactly what he’s supposed to. 5/5 stars!

I've had this about 5 years now. I don't leave it in the pool permanently, and put it in once week.I've read other reviews and understand that it struggles with big leaves in the pool. I don't have leaves falling into my pool, so this isn't an issue for me.This cleaner has never gotten stuck and climbs the walls without a problem. It does not go onto the steps.I think it's a great little unit in my 24,000 l pool. If it broke today, I'd buy the same unit.

Clogs up

It doesn't work very well because it clogs up with leaves easily, and gets stuck on the corners of the curved steps without a reverse drive. We get a fair amount of gum leaves, so doesn't work very well. Pretty high price for something that's unreliable.

Constantly clogs
25 March 2023

Constantly clogs with leaves and after less than a year it needs replacement tracks which are not available from bunnings.

Does what it says

But , doesn’t pick up big gum tree leaves they get stuck in the intake fan that spins around . Had mine for 3 years and stopped working , lost traction in the plastic encased cogs , hoses only last for about 12 months . Spent another $120 replacing hoses . I won’t buy another one again . Worked out $250 a year , I’ll find something better this time , not from barracuda

Not fit for purpose…Do not buy this product
22 December 2022

Everyday it stops because of a small string size shredded palm leaf .Also gets caught on steps and will just stay there for the day unless moved.Poor design and not fit for purpose.Don’t buy this product

Probably wouldn’t buy it again
25 September 2021

It’s ok, but gets clogged pretty easily. Probably no problem if your pool does not get much in the way of leaves falling into it, but if you do prepare to do a lot of unclogging.

This thing is aweful
25 January 2022

Don’t buy this at all, you’re better off with a $99 thing. Any leaf will stop the thing, sick to death of it after 6 months use.I’ll sell it to you for a carton, so don’t but one..

Unclogging is required every 15 minutes
12 March 2022

This thing is totally useless if you have leaves in the pool. You may have to pull it out of water to unclog it every 15 mnutes. Waste of money and time. Don't buy.

Waste of money

The first “feature” this products stated is ‘cleans floor & walls’. This unit DOES NOT clean the walls of a pool. Not even close. This claim is Complete rubbish.
