The lovely Duke. That's this jacket by the by, I know of no other Dukes that earn the comment 'lovely'. Anyway, my first one was an XL that had been lengthened slightly in the factory (not for me) but as I'm 6'4 it was perfect. Unfurtunately my 26yo son - who THINKS he is taller than me just because he's 6'6 pretty much just took it off me, so I had to buy another. The one I have now is not extended and even though it was only an extra inch on length and sleeves I don't half miss it,especially in this weather and will certainly be looking into getting one thus extended any time soon. I looked at the customisation service on this site, but didn't see the Duke as an option. THANKS!

This is a fantastic jacket I bought for myself as it's warm and on the slimmer side of fitting. If you don't like the slim fitting of this jacket I would recommend to go up one size. Its the perfect jacket for walking or commuting. If you take longstrides as I do then leave the bottom button undone or button it up without using the zip. I love this jacket and is my dailywear during colder days.

Ive had a mind to buy one of these for a while now and having the 'pay in 3' flexibility clinched it for me. The fit is snug and you can feel the quality immediately. Dont mistake any stiffness for bad manufacturing - ive had stuff like this before and im certain that within a month this will be one of the most comfortable jackets i own.Very happy with my purchase.
Great winter jacket, but let down by some sub-par design and material choices.It is a great coat, but....Hand warmer pockets are useless as they are too small and angled awkwardly to get your hand in comfortably, and without binding with jacket sleeve.Inside lining is sub-par quality compared to my previous Barbour jackets.Neoprene flap down zipper gets caught all of the time.Internal pocket is flimsy and only popper fastened - why not a zip..? Oh, probably because the flimsy lining can't take a zip.It looks smart and it'll keep you warm, as long as you have gloves, as pocket warmer pockets are useless.
The unexpected heatwave in March this year caught me by surprise, especially when I looked in my coat cupboard for something light to wear and found nothing suitable. This 4oz Barbour has plugged that gap; it's perfect for warm spring/autumn and cooler summer weather. Unfortunately the temperature has now plunged back into single figures so the jacket is staying in my cupboard for now!The sand colour is very smart indeed. Fairly longs sleeves but these have a narrow opening and a press-fastening so won't slip over the hand.Note to those unfamiliar with Barbour sizing: This Lightweight Duke is a tailored fit so potentially size up and don't expect to be able to wear over a gillet or thick wool jumper in winter weather.
I ordered & received an X Large sizing! At least that is what it said on the label! I already have two Barbour X-Large jackets and they fit perfectly! When I tried this latest jacket on there was no way it was going to fit! A challenge to get my arms in the sleeves and impossible to button/zip up! Despite the size tag this jacket is a size small/large! Can you arrange a replacement and let me know what actions I need to take? If this is a manufacturing errora proper X-Large may suit but best opt for an XXLarge!! Look forward to hearing from you!

This is absolutely not a regular fit jacket, it is quite slim , or perhaps the sizes were put on the wrong jackets. Most folks will need to size up 1 size to have a prayer of making this work. Now, the jacket has a versatile design, high quality craftsmanship and the sense that it may last a lifetime. The problem is finding the correct size. The sizing for this jacket is wayyyy off! I am a slim built 6ft 2 man and weigh between 160 and 165lbs who normally wears a Mens Medium. The medium fits like a small and fits my torso very snuggly even though I am quite skinny. The large doesn't have quite as chic of a fit, but feels more natural on the body. I cant imagine how many people ordered the wrong size of this jacket, because each size is truly 1 size smaller than as marked. If you are a small, you'll need an extra small, if you are a medium, you will need a large and so on. On all sizes though, be warned that the sleeves are not quite as long as they should be or as you'd expect them to be based on this style and cut of jacket. Barbour really needs to reevaluate their sizing on these jackets and remove the "regular fit" claim from the title. I recommend trying a few sizes and returning those which don fit.

So unlike the regular Duke, this doesn't offer much at all in terms of cold weather protection. The flip side is of course that you can wear it in warmer temperatures. Today I wore it in 19C drizzle without any discomfort. So question its viability in the winter without heavy layers underneath. In contrast the regular Duke has a nice warm quilrlted lining.Onto the exterior. The jacket is very soft and very supple due to the wash. I think a lot of this is also due to the thin lining vs quilted. One side stands upright, the other flops down. With the regular Duke you can have the collar turned up and both sides are uniform.Washed. Well today it was spitting, lightly raining, and while this jacket is described as weather proof, and a heavy duty version if the Duke, the rain was being absorbed by the cotton, not simply running off. As such, I'm struggling to understand how it's heavy duty, and will most likely have to give it a good wax to make sure its ready for the winter. I'm hoping this doesn't change the look because the washed look is very nice. More of a matte, almost military look, than the sheen of the regular Duke.I like it, but feel it's not the heavyweight Duke it's advertised to be, and possibly lacks weatherproofing as a result. The collar is also a bit of an annoyance for those who like their collars turned up.
I love the look of the jacket, and the lightweight feel. The only criticism that I have is that it’s a little snug around the shoulders when trying to get it on. I bought a Barbour winter jacket at the end of last year and had the same problem, but to a worse extent. The new Barbour sizing seems to be not so reliable as earlier. This maybe has something to do with the fact that some production has moved abroad.
