I received a Barebones Beacon lantern as a gift. We live in California, where the electricity goes out often, with no notice. I tried charging the lantern, but it did not work. I emailed the company to get their take on what might be wrong, and without a receipt, they sent me a new one! This kind of service is hard to find! Thank you, Barebones! My new lantern works perfectly, and you've earned a yourself a loyal customer.

I love this lamp for the way it looks in my commissioner's tent at scout camp, or on a picnic table on a casual campout. It's a great combination of traditional looks and latest technology. Plenty of light and holds a charge well. Lightweight and sturdy, I pack it on top in my gear bag and it's holding up well. I haven't used it to charge my phone, but nice to know it has that feature. Since the LED light is not hot, I put a lightweight yellow stuff sack over it and still have plenty of light but it doesn't draw as many bugs. I have smaller, techier things for my backpack, but this is my favorite camping light.

I've had this lantern for a year now and I really love it. Obviously, it looks beautiful and I love having it in photos, but it is also a really handy thing when I go car camping or go out to a cabin. The battery recharges with a cord that is tucked on the underside of the lamp, so I never have to worry about forgetting the charging cord or wondering which cord in my drawer of a million cords is the right one. It's also great that you can charge your phone (or other devices) off the lantern if you need to! The four little lights at the bottom indicate how much juice you've got left which is great. I've used mine a fair bit (and even used it at home in the winter for those extra cozy vibes) and it still holds a charge really well.I love the warm yellow light it ... MoreI've had this lantern for a year now and I really love it. Great for photos!Overall, I think this is a fantastic lantern for front country camping or similar activities!

I bought three of these lanterns even after reading a couple of reviews that said they had issues with them. Two out of the three are fine but one will not hold a charge and it takes twice as long as the other two to fully charge. The two that work...work very well and on the dimmest setting will light for about 50 hrs. Unfortunately you take a chance on if the one you order will work or not.
I don’t usually write reviews but thought that this lantern wasn’t really getting a fair deal with the other reviews. Admittedly, I bought it a few weeks ago, but we used it daily on our family’s recent camping trip and I absolutely loved it. It’s got good ‘thunk’ to it - not flimsy at all. It charges easily (I don’t remember what was advertised, but don’t personally care about 3’ vs 6’ cord. It charged fine) and quickly. And believe it or not, that charge lasted us the entire week. I love that it dims, and the dimmest setting was more than enough for us. I also thought it was clever that it has an indicator light showing the remaining battery power. Useful, yet subtle so it didn’t detract from its old-school aesthetic. A new family favorite!
I have used this a lot. I bought it because if the style. Worth the price because of the solid metal construction. Not cheap plastic. I use it as a table lamp. Lights the entire room. Can adjust brightness with a dimmer.
I bought this latern 4 months ago and it is perfect. Decided to buy another one and had to return two times since both didn't work. There is an issue with the on/off button. Unfortunately the newer ones are defective. Had to get my money back.My first one still works and it looks perfect and works perfect.
I have two of these. I love the look. They are high quality and made of metal not plastic. I use them as table lamps. The brightness is adjustable and not having to have a cord run across the floor is cool. I would buy again. Also for me, it works when the power goes out.
This is a Great lantern for camping or around the house. It seems built to last and after charging it up for 3 showing 4 green led lights which indicates full charge it was done. It is bright and I just pushed the power switch to turn on and you twist the know to change it from full power to the amount of light desired. The manual states itvwill ladt 3 hours on highst setting , up to 8 hrs on the lowest. The lantern is made of metal and the lens is made if a durable plastic. It is well worth the $90.00. It has a metal handle and a smaller metal hook for hanging. It has a wide base so you can set it right on top of the table, ground or tent. No worries it doesn't get hot like a gas lantern. It is light too so hang it anywhere ther is a hook branch ot insd3 your tent. ... MoreThis is a Great lantern for camping or around the house. I picked this up in store the night before a camping trip. I liked this option because it was rechargeable and didn't require batteries. I intended to purchase the optional solar charger at some point but sadly it won't be necessary. I got it home and plugged it in overnight. The next morning I noticed that the charging indicator light was still blinking on the second of four lights. I tried two different outlets to make sure it wasn't bad wiring in the first oulet, but no dice. So I took it on the camping trip anyway because it was too late to get anything else and I figured that maybe the lantern would function properly even if the charging lights were faulty. I turned it on once it got dark and set it to the low setting since I would need it all weekend and it ... MoreI picked this up in store the night before a camping trip. I must have gotten the lemon. But that's why I shop at REI, it's going back tomorrow...
