I bought the X Air 16 for live sound but I used the X Air 16 as a test for my DJ equipment and what a big improvement it made in the sound and my speakers. Controls all input and output of the sound if you have some knowledge of sound high's, mid's and low's. Now I can set my output and walk to the back of the room and make adjustment with the app on my tablet just like a front house engineer. For DJ's the X Air 12 would do fine. For $250. good deal. A good DJ controller cast about $500.or better. I also hooked up my Alto Professional Stealth Wireless System for DJ PA Powered/Active Speakers, works good. Now I can take just two wires to hook up, from the sub's to the tops. But you would need 2 Alto Professional Stealth Wireless System, one for Input on the X Air and ... The is a neat little mixer. It's nice to routable 4 AUX outputs on such a small unit. Operation via tablet or laptop is pretty easy and straight forward. The only major issue is that the wi-fi link is very unreliable in areas where there are other networks. I was on a shoot, where I needed to be recording a backup file to the USB drive, and the recorder would stop, every time my tablet lost connection. THIS IS VERY BAD. All of the other settings will persist through a disconnect, or when the mixer is power cycled. Mostly, it's useful for situations in which you do not have to constantly adjust levels.

Generally speaking, this is a great product, especially for the price. Any complaints I have about it are minor:- Headphone volume blocked by line 17/18 input cables- No direct-to-USB record is irritating as sometimes you don't want to use a PC to do the recording- WiFi (I think mainly due to in-built aerial) is awful- Ability to mute main mix channels without affecting aux mixes would be good- I'd prefer the power switch on the front and (likely more divisive) the power input on the rearOverall, I'm very happy with the XR18 and none of these issues are causing me significant issues.

If space is often a struggle at your gigs this is a great solution, it’s got a very small footprint for the amount of inputs and it’s packed full of features. I often don’t have the option to have my mixer front of house but with this I can set it up neatly out of the way and mix freely from anywhere in the room with the iOS software, which seems easy enough for a novice to navigate but is also packed with features and options for the more experienced of us too. The software has been very responsive so far with minimal lag and the WiFi range is quite good, though for larger spaces with lots of WiFi traffic I’ll be using a separate router just to be safe anyway.It’s lightweight but still feels rugged and well built enough to deal with life on the road and regular ... I’ll be using the X Touch controller with it too for certain applications and that offers lots of room for expansion and can be hard wired to the X18 via an Ethernet cable so it doesn’t have to rely on WiFi as a fall back option.The only negative I have for it so far is that I’d like to see the option of having rubber feet to help stop it sliding on a flat surface. (Not that I’ve had this problem yet) but this is a mod you could easily do yourself if you’re not squeamish with a drill, or you could always glue some on for a less permanent option.All in all, if you’re looking to dip a toe in to the wireless mixing world you can’t really go wrong with one of these.

There is a consistent arrogance on the forums that usually takes the form of "that question has been answered elsewhere" without any indication of WHERE that elsewhere is! I guess one of the areas where Behringer saves money to allow for their budget prices is in not hiring technical writers to tell anyone how to operate their equipment.
Nice compact mixer, 4 mix busses, 4 effects, built in wifi is passable but I recommend any decent router upstream. Great for 1-3 person bands,!!33; more get the xr18. This does NOT multitrack record
Setup was a breeze, im using it the studio to connect all my synths to my daw. Downloaded the Windows driver, installed it , it worked. 18 channels of lovely audio.The touch screen as a mixer is unsurprisingly a big fiddly on a phone but works well on a laptop or tablet.All in all a great product that really should be marketed at the synth community more, id never heard of it, and its been out for years. Absolutely sorted my 'not enough inputs' problem

Also individual phantom power for condenser mikes. Very complete!Used the mixer for a concert with 7 mikes and 8 instruments with two busses for the monitors. The setup and adjustments through the iPad made it very easy to get at good sound quickly without having a 30m stagebox and an analogue mixer.Note: Due to a wireless system in the same room and audience use of wifi I could not get a stable wi-fi connection to the mixer during the concert. For normal use the screen is simply too small and the iPad or laptop is required.
Blown away by this device. So many configuration options and features. Just replaced our stage box/loom, mixing desk, eq rack, and compressor rack with one device (that is lighter than our old stage box/loom). Gigged with it for the first time last night (mixing from the stage) with two of us able to control the mix from our tablets (one of us on Android, the other with an iPad) on our mic stands and also had a touch screen Chromebook running as the main mixer to the side of the stage. Awesome. Loved that we even had full eq controls on each of the 6 monitor outs (configured one of these as a sub out as well).Great build quality. Rock steady WiFi connection that started connected all night.Loved that we could set up our mix/balance from the audience side of the stage.
After a few video's on line, I was able to re-master the X Air series mixer once again. I know there are a few out there who said that there should be some kind of manual, and it might help some of you. I found plenty of on-line support on how-to with these series mixers. I do wish that Behringer had made ch's 9-16 available with Phantom power but no dice. All said and done it's a great compact mixer that performs well in a live situation with your own wireless router.
