Bell Moto 9 Flex

I've got a big head and it's also oval shaped. I tried several different helmets trying to get one that fit without pinching my forehead. The Flex model ended my search and it fits just right. The inner she'll is soft enough to accommodate my head shape and it's also feels very light on my head. Thanks to RMATV for allowing exchanges on helmets. Great policy and I'm very happy with my purchase.

The DOT and Snell safety ratings along with price make this helmet a great buy. I tried a large size but with free return to fit policy I exchanged it for the medium and it fits perfect with great comfort. My hat size is 7 1/8. The guaranteed fit policy at RMATV is the ONLY way to purchase items like boots or helmets.

After a return to the world of dirt bike riding the bell moto-9 flex seemed to check all the boxes I needed. The fit andfinish are great along with overall view seems excellent. I like the ease of the cheek pad removal and the weight of the helmet is perfect for me.

Excellent helmet!
25 August 2021

Really nice helmet! Fit after a few rides is excellent- out of the box it did feel a bit uncomfortable, particularly for the cheek pads, but with a few hours it feels awesome. Finish on the helmet is excellent, and it vents really well. The magnetic chin strap attachment is awesome- I didn't realize how much time I spent fiddling with the snap on my other helmet until I had the mag snap.

Great helmet with all the features I was looking for.

Fit and finish is great. Very comfortable helmet. I’ve had a few rides in it so far. I cannot comment on the cooling/ venting yet as my rides have been in 50-60 degree weather. The liner removes and goes back in easily. The magnetic cheek pads are awesome.

Great helmet, excellent merchandise exchange.
12 September 2020

Great helmet. Liner and cheek pads are very comfortable. The strap retaining magnet is nice an strong (was an issue for me on 2013 model). Got the helmet in a Medium, as it was my previous Moto 9 size in 2013. A medium was good for size after the years of grown alongside break in on my previous Moto 9 but not anymore, was significantly too tight. Called up RM ATV MC and a young fella had me on my way quickly, just explained the situation and asked for an exchange on size. Took the box to FedEx, slapped the label on and in 9 days the Large was on my doorstep. The large is a perfect fit, the intial size choice was my bad judgement.

Fit and ventilation is great. Goggles seal well against the eye well. Appearance is awesome! The carbon in the blue color is subtle but super eye catching.

Great with one drawback
9 February 2021

Safe, comfortable, and great looking bucket. I measured the perfect size for a medium however the cheek pads are pretty snug on my face. The actual helmet fits great but I suspect the cheek pads will take a little time to break in. Thus, I'm keeping the helmet and feel confident it's the right size. One thing to note is the vizor dials/adjusters on the side... the "flap" that you flip up to adjust them seems to get caught on the strap of my goggles when I'm taking my goggles off and on. Not sure why that is... the flap doesn't seem to stay down snug enough and as my goggle strap slides over it, it tends to flip up the flap. Wondering why that's the case on a high end ($$$) helmet.Overall, great helmet and worth every penny. Just need to figure out how to anchor ... MoreSafe, comfortable, and great looking bucket. The hinge on them seems too loose.

In depth comparison Bell, 6D and Soumy
5 December 2020

My recent helmets are Soumy Jump, 6D ATR 2 so I’ll compare to those.Fit- Bell easily wins and Soumy 2nd. The 6D doesn’t that fully connected feel of the Bell which fits like a glove. Before my first ride on the Bell, it was tight on the cheeks. After a 4 hour ride it fits perfectly. The 6D cheek pads fit lower, they make talking sound like yoyr drunk and never broke in like the Bell. The Soumys cheek pads feel mediocre and offer little support but aren’t intrusive like the 6D.Both 6D and Soumys pads are difficult to remove and become damaged with each removal. Bells cheek pads are superior in removal and won’t fall apart, plus they’re easy to remove in case of an accident. Those pads win in comfort, ease of use and safety.Subjectively, I’ll also give Bell the ... MoreMy recent helmets are Soumy Jump, 6D ATR 2 so I’ll compare to those.Fit- Bell easily wins and Soumy 2nd. Bells cheek pads are superior in removal and won’t fall apart, plus they’re easy to remove in case of an accident. Those pads win in comfort, ease of use and safety.Subjectively, I’ll also give Bell the win in head safety. While 6D emphasizes protection against rotational force, Bell emphasizes impact absorption and rotational force. Soumy is leagues below both in this category. I’ll add that the fits like a glove feel of the Bell, contributes to a sense of security that I’ve never felt from any helmet. In the Bell, your head is supported by the 3 progressive liners plus a head liner. Because it fits so good, it will not loosely slap around inside in the event of a hard crash. Both the Soumy and 6D have been personally crash tested. Soumy has 1 concussion that I doubt would have occurred with the Bell or 6D.6D has 1 crash impacting the forehead. No concussion but at 55mph did break the visor and my foot.I was concerned the Bell Visor would be a problem after reading a few nags about it.I’m of the opposite opinion. The rubber used as friction washers does an excellent job of holding it in place.I found with good tension, it stays in place yet, if you need to pull it down for the sun or roost, it’s perfectly adapted to the balance of meeting the demands and will move with limited force. It felt better at 70mph too. The 6D tugs a bit and puts more strain on your neck.Bell wins the visor. The Soumy then 6D.Helmet strap, Bell wins, easily better than the others.Air flow, Bell wins, you can feel the difference and there’s less sweat which keeps your brain and body cooler and uses less water.Weight, Soumy wins by a mile.My Soumy, 2 pounds 11 ounces.6D, 3 pounds 5 ounces.Bell, 3 pounds 9 ouncesStrangely enough, because of the awesome fit, the Bell feels almost as light on your head as the Soumy. 6D feels the heaviest. Bell is always more comfortable in spite of the heaviest weight.Style, Bell, Soumy then 6D because it looks like an astronauts helmet.Hope that helps

Not impressed
23 August 2021

I was not impressed and sent it back for refund. It fit a little on the small side and wasn't very comfortable.I had purchased it based on what I thought would be a large weight difference from my HJC CS-MX 2 but it was actually heavier.Going to take my time and do more searching.
