From the roughest singletrack to urban blacktop, the MX-9 Adventure gets you there in style. Weve taken our MX-9 and added even more capability with an integrated anti-fog, anti-scratch face shield. The shield flips up and leaves enough room for goggles in extreme conditions, or can be removed completely. Conversely, the adjustable visor can be removed for a stealth street look. MIPS protection, Velocity Flow ventilation, and a removable, washable, anti-microbial liner round out a highly adaptable package.

I've worn a Bell helmets since riding my first bike. This helmet fits me perfect and is comfortable for extended rides. Noise level is lower than an open face helmet and not distracting. No problems with face shield fogging. Haven't had a chance to test the MIPS factor nor do I want one but Bell technology offers me confidence in the safety built into this helmet. The only down side I've found so far is in donning prescription glasses which presents challenges in wearing them properly. I hope to resolve this issue by experimenting with the cheek pads.. Overall, I'm pleased with this helmet and reccomend.

The positives: the Bell MX-9 helmet is light weight, fits true to size, and has great visibility. On the fit, it's "comfortably tight," meaning I followed their sizing guide to a T and bought the size recommended for me and it fits very snug, but it isn't quite headache-inducing - which I think is what you want for a safe fit. And it's a great deal (when ion sale) for a quality helmet with MIPS.The negatives: it's probably the loudest helmet I've ever owned, and that's really two different problems. First, it "sounds cheap" in that it sounds like there is no sonic damping - my bike sounds different with this helmet than it does with any of my others because I can hear every sound it makes like I'm pressing my ear to the engine while I ride. It's also loud in that it creates its own wind noise at just about any speed - and it's particularly bad at diminishing that noise as described above. The "tab" for raising/lowering the shield is terrible - it's a smoothly curved mini lip that's a pain to use, which seems like a dumb design mistake since it's so easy to get that right. It also has mediocre ventilation with only the simplest vents. And the sun shade is too short and high up on the helmet to be fully useful. My other ADV helmets have much more effective sun shades because of how much lower (and longer) they are.

All the reviews are very accurate. I wish the peak would adjust a little lower, but it is adequate. Note, there are 2 holes for the top wing nut adjustment, and the photo appears to show the highest setting, so it will come down quite a bit from that. True to size. I wear a medium and thought the cheek pads were too tight. Support urged me to wear it around for an hour or 2 and see if it gave me a headache. It did not, and I'm glad that I kept it because it fit like a glove within a few hours of wear (and I got used to it). Apparently, my old helmets are too lose. Note that if you are doing a comparison between the MX-9 and more expensive helmets, this one will be larger in physical case, likely causing some more wind noise. It's freaking loud. As a dual sport helmet with a face shield it is a good deal, as an ADV helmet it is horrible. It just isn't designed to be comfortable at highway speeds.I've been a longtime wearer of Bell helmets. I know they aren't the lightest or quietest helmets. I know this is only a $200 helmet so I can't expect the same level of quality/features as my Race Star. This helmet is so loud it is bordering on dangerous. The peak visor can be removed and replaced by some caps that create a lot of high pitched wind noise at 45mph. So much that you can't hear your engine or even the sound of oncoming traffic whizzing by. Ear plugs aren't enough to solve the issue. I found I could get rid of the noise by tilting my chin down almost into my neck, but that pulls your line of sight down to in front of your front wheel, which is not where you want to be looking. At 45mph the noise is more bearable with the face shield open rather than closed. The face shield doesn't have a pronounced enough tab to open it with gloves on. You'll think you've found the tab, but then you realize you are pulling on the chin vent. While cheaper materials are expected at this price point. I wouldn't expect the visor to be so cheap that paint had rubbed off during shipping.Unfortunately for me, it is too loud to even use on the back roads I take to get to the fun stuff. Since I wore it for one ride I can no longer return it and have flushed $200 down the drain.
This helmet has saved my melon a few times off road. Overall, I think the helmet is a good starter helmet. But now that I've been riding longer on/off-road trips in the cold and rain, I have a few critiques. First off, the helmet is loud. There is a lot of wind noise for sure. Secondly, no closable vents makes this uncomfortable in the cold and rain. Nothing a good hood or neck tube can't fix though. I love the transition lens visor I got with it, but sometimes it doesn't get dark enough on really bright days. Overall, for the price, this is a solid performing helmet but with some compromises.
Bought the MX-9 Adventure to use when I'm out on my CRF300L. A good value for its market. Solid build quality, good fit, good interior materials. My only real complaints are with the visor. Lack of detent range choices for holding the visor open, and the ridge at the bottom of the visor that is in line of sight when the visor is in any position besides all the way up or all the way closed. The vents work well but are a obvious source of wind noise. A piece of black tape fixes the wind noise and keeps the cold air out on a cold days ride. Once I fit my 45mm speakers in the pockets that are built in (all helmets should have this!) the helmet got quieter because it closes the small gap to my ears where that pocket is. I'm a new rider, this was my first helmet. Head circumference ~59-60cm. Ordered the large. The fit is snug, as it should it should be, without any pressure points for my head. Of note, I have more of a round oval shape than intermediate oval and it's still super comfortable for my head shape. I would order yours true to size. I wore the helmet straight out of the box for my MSF course (probably 10 hrs at least between the two days) with zero discomfort. For the price, which was discounted to ~$150 when I bought it, I'd say this helmet is excellent. Love the look of it as well, the black / grey pattern is very accurately depicted in the images Revzilla lists. Also comes with a tinted visor which is neat. The road noise IMO is not bad even with the peak, just grab ... MoreI'm a new rider, this was my first helmet. Head circumference ~59-60cm. Ordered the large. All around great.TLDR: Comfortable, affordable, looks rad
I've been wearing Bell helmets since I was a kid starting over five decades ago. This is my first new Bell for offroad motorcycle use in three decades and, true to form, the sizing was right, the capabilities were there and it was affordable. I'm mostly a fair weather rider in Northern Nevada high country desert and that means ventilation is required and this works. It's comfortable, has speaker pockets for intercom/phone use, has plenty of room to bury wires and also has snap out cheek pads that make the process simple. I'd like to have a little more movement on the peak but for the most part this is hitting all my sweet spots. I like it.
For the price, this is a good helmet. Sizing is accurate. I have an 'almond' shaped face and the Bell MX-9 fits me snuggly with no pressure points on my cheeks or forehead.Colours as presented on the website.A few things to keep in mind if you are considering this helmet:There are two vents on the sides of the chin which cannot be closed. Fine for most of the year, but in heavy rain or cold weather this may be an issue. There is no chin/wind curtain. I overlooked this on purchase. In the end I used the stick on mount provided by Sena. While trying on the helmet for the first time, I clicked the mouth/chin vent open and closed and the slide/button snapped off! Some would be put off by this and would have sent the lid back. But I like it and didn't want to do that so reached out to J&S for help. They answered my email within 10 minutes advising me that they'd look into it and get back to me. 10 minutes after that they emailed again to say that so I didn't have to wait ages for a replacement part, they had 'borrowed' one from another helmet that they had in the shop and were posting it directly. Not a great start to my ownership, but I've previously owned two other Bell helmets and never had any problems. I may have just bought one with a defect this time.M&P have been great to deal with as always, so I'm happy to recommend using them in the knowledge that they'll have your back if you have any issues.
Bought this at the beginning of this season for off road single track and enduro riding. Unfortunately had a pretty bad mix up with a tree. I picked a fight with a Maple tree on the trail at about 40-50km/per Hour and the tree won. I was knocked out on the trail for about 25-35sec (from what my riding buddies told me), however I did NOT suffer any concussion symptoms after the crash , barely had a sore neck and some minor bruising on my face. I will be buying another to replace this one that saved me. (Remember if you crash once , replace your helmet) I cannot recommend this helmet enough to anyone and everyone. The transition visor is amazing as-well, and yes you can ride it with goggles comfortably.
