The BellBellman Stovetop Steamer 50SS is a great little addition. Our espresso machine was due to be replaced and we were gifted a new all automatic machine. The machine is great for shots but not so great with the automatic milk frother. I have lived and breathed hospitality for 20+ plus years so it just made me sad to have bad milk lol. So happy we found this steamer. Does a better job than most home espresso machines or any automatic milk jug. The milk is perfectly textured and gets to the right temp quickly. Delivery was also quick!

After researching this product for ages, I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. After watching a few YouTube videos I quickly became confident in using the Bellman Stovetop Steamer and have perfected the perfect laté for me.When I set up my steamer, I fill the bottom container half full with boiling water, put all the pieces together and tighten the knob on top to create a tight seal. While the water is heating, I leave the steamer wand knob open to allow the air to escape. This usually takes 4 minutes or so. I then close the steam wand knob until the pressure release alerts me that I'm ready to create steamed milk.I do a quick purge of the steam wand before submerging it into my milk. I highly recommend a stainless steel milk jug with a thermometer ... MoreAfter researching this product for ages, I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase it. The Bellman Stove top Steamer makes lovely frothy milk for our cappuccinos. It is easy to use and easy to take apart for cleaning. A great steamer to use with our Aeropress. We have solar power so the Stove Top Steamer complements the Aeropress wonderfully, so we can make cafe style coffee without an expensive mains powered coffee machine. The only thing that could make it better would be a dial or something to show when it is ready to start steaming the milk.

The Bellman Stovetop Steamer is a well-made, solid contraption that does what it says on the box, but crikey it takes some practice! In three weeks I've only managed to make a perfect latte twice. Mostly I've produced a mountain of froth and some flat milk somewhere underneath. It's partly me and partly the design. The steam knob and the pipe are both on the same side, which is awkward to use and keep steady and with a narrow base it's unsafe on a conventional gas hob. I knocked it over and had steam and milk everywhere, so do yourself a favour and get a flat induction plate to put underneath it. It's definitely a thrill for a beginner when it all comes together and produces a smooth, creamy latte (I use barista oat milk) and while it's been depressing to only ... MoreThe Bellman Stovetop Steamer is a well-made, solid contraption that does what it says on the box, but crikey it takes some practice! It's definitely a thrill for a beginner when it all comes together and produces a smooth, creamy latte (I use barista oat milk) and while it's been depressing to only manage it twice so far, it's also encouraging to know that the Bellman is capable of making wonderful steamed milk. Persevere, practise with water and washing-up liquid, watch lots of YouTubes, talk to baristas and you'll get there. I'm not there yet but I can see the finish line. Full steam ahead! The Bellman stovetop steamer is well made and froths milk great. Silky velvety milk for an awesome camping coffee. It compliments our ROK manual espresso maker perfectly.Honestly, it is hard to tell the difference between a coffee made on our expensive commercial grade Italian espresso machine, and this combination.Highly recommended.
Advantages:It's portable and easily stored, and that means no loss of bench space and something that is useable away from home (and electricity). It's fairly rugged, and there has been a fairly good history of spare parts available for it online. I've just replaced the valve and wand arm on my first unit after nearly 5 years of regular daily use. At the same time I took the opportunity to get a second unit to put permanently in my car. Obviously I've been happy enough with it.Disadvantages:There's no mechanism for knowing that it's ready to steam. Familiarity through use certainly helps, but to be completely happy with it I think you have to be willing to accept either some level of inconsistency in your results or some lost time hovering while it heats. Familiarity through use certainly helps, but to be completely happy with it I think you have to be willing to accept either some level of inconsistency in your results or some lost time hovering while it heats. I also suspect that the energy efficiency of using a Bellman Steamer would fall woefully behind an espresso machine (though I haven't made a study of it).Value For Money:For what it is in a modern, globalised world of manufacturing, it's not overly impressive. But a) there isn't much competition from another manufacturer making the same thing, b) you should get a lot of beverages in return for your investment, and c) it will almost certainly outlast an automatic espresso machine.Summary:The Bellman Stovetop Steamer is nothing special, but it does sit in a class of its own. If I wasn't driven to keep my kitchen bench top uncluttered, I would prefer an espresso machine. But the Bellman Steamer is much smaller, and I'd choose it well ahead of any of the "milk frother" devices on the market.
At our weekender in the bush, we have been using 2 x Aeropress and heating milk on the gas stove. Aeropress espresso shots were great, but the boring milk let it down. So I started looking for alternative to steam the milk and found good reviews on this steamer. It has been the perfect solution, steams silky smooth milk, almost as good as our Rocket espresso machine at home! Best if you know the correct technique to steam silky milk first, otherwise expect and accept the learning curve, but you will be rewarded! A pressure gauge would be good addition, but not essential once you get your timing and temps sorted. Happy with purchase!
The steamer was bigger and sturdier than I expected from the pictures. It can take a few tries to get great results but stick with it and they are great. I was struggling to steam larger pitchers of milk on my thermojet machine but this is able to handle those larger volumes, it also speeds up steaming smaller volumes too! It is important to purge the wand thoroughly before steaming to prevent a lot of larger air bubbles being introduced. It's also worth waiting for the pressure relief valve to begin venting to ensure pressure is really built up. The only awkward part of use would be to make sure the handles are not near a flame / hot-plate - an induction plate would be perfect. One final note is that you do need to be a bit careful when cleaning the wand after ... MoreThe steamer was bigger and sturdier than I expected from the pictures. I bought this cause my mum is a massive whinger about her coffee, her milk, her kids, her bad knee⊠you get it. Well - it exceeded expectations. Truly. MamaS was too stunned to speak. âItâs goodâ she reluctantly muttered - mother speak for â*** is this sorcery.âAll the fighters out there, suffering with sorrowful lukewarm frothed milk - you donât have to. Make your guests as happy as I (briefly) made my ethnic mother.Really let the steam build up, be patient. The milk will then froth itself and itâs an absolute delight. The instruction video made it easy to follow. 12/10
Takes a little practice. Works best if you start with boiling water, then let it come up to pressure for at least 5 minutes. (Turn it off if the over-pressure valve fires though).Once up to pressure it'll work pretty much like a decent coffee machine.I use it at home. Replaced a cheap-ish automatic machine that needed too much maintenance with a lever (Flair Pro) and this thing. Just as easy to make 1-2 cups, and zero maintenance or electric/mechanical parts to break.v-- not quite pro barista quality but not bad for home/camping. Tastes great.
