A good all-rounder

After a lot of research and initially auditioning the Epson TW-EH9400 I went for the BenQ W5700. I had my heart set on the Epson until I saw it in the flesh - the 2K resolution was noticeably poor compared to the Sony, Optoma and BenQ 4K (faux-K) projectors. For me the BenQ strikes a good balance between picture quality, placement flexibility, aesthetics and price. The black levels are terrible (I've been spoiled with OLED TVs for the last few years) but without £10K+ to spend on a PJ I'm happy to overlook that for a 122" projection of my favourite films with very good 4K and colour performance. I find the "Vivid TV" preset is a must for Blu-ray content. Dynamic contrast is a bust (the sound of the iris moving is unbearable) and 3D is also unwatchable, but my primary use case of BD/4K viewing hits the spot.

Was contemplating between Epson 9400 and Benq w5700. Was biased towards Epson because of plethora of good reviews. However, when I witnessed side by side comparison I was blownaway with the picture quality and colors that Benq produced. 4k quality is so impressive that we never went back to our LG Oled for watching any content. A masterpoece at half the cost of other premium projectors like JVC or Sony.

Great picture

I can't fault the picture, every bit as good as I hoped. the projector is solid and of top quality with good features, let down somewhat by a cheap plasticky remote. It is also impossible to put the cover back without knocking the focus. So have to refocus for each use.

One of (if not) the Best 4K Projector in its class

I have for the last 18months researched the Benq W5700 Projector and have seen nothing but positive reviews, either via YouTube or on AV Forum and Magazine reviews.Whilst researching 4K projectors in general, I recently demo'd the Sony VPL-VW270ES native 4K and whilst a stunning picture, was too expensive for my budget at £5000.I decided to take then to go with my gut and purchase the Benq from RicherSounds Bristol a few weeks ago - As always, they were very quick to respond, deal with my order and the projector arrived the next day (Thats service!!) - Also speaking to Steve, he helped correctly troubleshoot and identify an issue I had when installing the projector (turned out to be a dodgy HDMI cable). Conclusion:All in all the picture quality from this ... MoreI have for the last 18months researched the Benq W5700 Projector and have seen nothing but positive reviews, either via YouTube or on AV Forum and Magazine reviews.Whilst researching 4K projectors in general, I recently demo'd the Sony VPL-VW270ES native 4K and whilst a stunning picture, was too expensive for my budget at £5000.I decided to take then to go with my gut and purchase the Benq from RicherSounds Bristol a few weeks ago - As always, they were very quick to respond, deal with my order and the projector arrived the next day (Thats service!!) - Also speaking to Steve, he helped correctly troubleshoot and identify an issue I had when installing the projector (turned out to be a dodgy HDMI cable). Conclusion:All in all the picture quality from this projector is absolutely stunning in 4K with 4k UHD Blu Rays and also from standard DVDs upscaled to 4K.Whilst there are many options to further fine tune the picture within the menus, the individual pre-certification calibration report that comes with each Benq means you don't really have to. I'm so pleased with it. Research the W5700 and I'm sure you'll agree as I did that its a great projector. Finally, thank you to Richer Sounds (and Steve) for your quick, friendly impartial advice as always!!

Simply the best
30 January 2021

I must have been one of richersounds READING worst customers, I chopped and changed my mind 4 TIMES!!!!! 4 different projectors sent back and they were always very helpful. Eventually I decided on the BenQ W5700. WOW! What can I say! the images are sharp clear and the blacks are pretty good. The detail you can see will blow your socks off!!! I honestly thought when watching a film that the image's were as good as any OLED Tv

I viewed a couple of projectors and went with the benq because the colours were so vivid. I have now installed it myself and it was easy plug and play pretty much. I don't hear the noise from it like some reviews. All in all great home cinema
