I used 15 and 20 lb low vis green on multiple spinning outfits extensively. The line performed well for the first season (Apr-Oct 2021). However, this season I'm encountering a lot problems with fluorocarbon leaders cutting the braid on the 3 outfits with te 15 lb braid. The issue has cost me several nice SM bass and a couple dozen swimbaits cast in bull rush and wild rice beds. I have not had this problem on the 3 outfits with the 20 lb braid. Needless to say, I was more than frustrated losing fish and lures, and all the lost time retieing on a new leader multiple times a day. My rods are always stored in a rod locker when not in use and in a dry basement during the winter so I don't think my rod storage conditions played a role in the breakdown of the line.

Fishing line might seem a little boring; for me, I *want* it to be boring. Just get the bait out there and the fish back into the boat. X9 has a nice color and doesn't seem to fade very fast (and much slower than some). X9 handles really well. One note: if you're buying the "small" spools, you get about 10 % more per spool. That is, most come at 150 yards and X9 comes at 165 yards. Hey - it's braid; good price. Buy it.

So far it has proven to be strong and durable. Casting is smooth with this line and comes off the spool easily. Very happy with this braided line will definitely be using for my other rods.

I usually always use Power Pro but thought I would try something different and the guy at the tackle shop said to give the X9 a try. I bought the 20 pound test which is the same test as the power pro I have on my other rod. Took both set ups out today I hooked two small Pike on the rod spooled with the X9 and they both broke me off. Then I lost two other lures trying to get them unsnagged, didn’t really feel like I pulled on them that hard. I caught two other Pike about the same size on my rod with the power pro and landed them both with no problem. On the plus side, it does cast nicely on my spinning reel on the plus side, does cast nicely on my spinning reel. Maybe I just got a bad batch?
The best braided line I have used thus far. Line is extremely smooth. Extremely Sensitive even for the smallest bites. Works well on both spinning and baitcasting reels. The knot strength is excellent for a braided line. I use a palomar knot and have not had a single not failure even when setting the hook on a big bass or when fighting a large catfish.I really like how smooth the line is too, I'd doesn't sound/feel like the line is sawing through your rod guides like it does with some other braided lines.I prefer the dark/low-vis green as the lakes I fish in are pretty muddy so I'm not too concerned about fish being able to see the line, but if you're in clearer water you may want to use a fluorocarbon/monofilament leader. The only downside I can think of with ... MoreThe best braided line I have used thus far. My new Go TO Braid for all casting and conventional. After a full season I have nothing but accolades for this line. Ultra strong and from the research I have done, comparing manufacturers specifications Berkley X9 is the smallest diameter braid available. In some cases the diameter difference between X9 and other leading braids can be as much as XX%. For example the dimeter of 15lb X9 is 0.14mm. PowerPro 15lb braid comes in at .008in or .203mm. That is nearly a 30% difference! With such small diameters it seems the difference may be trivial. BUT... fish down 30, 50, 60 plus feet with strong currents over the entire length of line and the difference is VERY real. The line also casts very well. Again thin diameter wins this game again and again. Have not ... MoreMy new Go TO Braid for all casting and conventional. After a full season I have nothing but accolades for this line. Same big differences as one moves up the strength ladder. The line is strong. Easy to tie and holds up well under repeated often saltwater outings. This stuff is great.Pic below the bass was taken on an 8ft GSB, VR50 spooled with 15lb Berkley X9
I don’t have a order issue but this says customer service. So I have a complaint. I am an Lake Erie walleye fisherman I recently strung 4 of my trolling rods with Berkley X5 braid. First time out had fish at boat the line broke so I lost my fish and a 10 dollar lure. Didn’t think too much about it until the next rod did same thing with a 40 dollar in line board and another 10 dollar lure. So stopped using them. Got home and found out the line is breaking on all 4 rods and not at the knot. It’s actually breaking the line. So stringing 4 rods was 45 dollars board 40 dollars and lures 20 bucks. That’s 105 dollar loss because I used this product. I am not very happy with that. Also good luck with customer service.
I bought this line 2 weeks (June 29) ago it was 30 lbs test. It has been the worst line Ive ever used! The first day out I had it fray on me (see picture). It seemed as though one strand seperated from the rest and then all of the other bunched up so I had to pull a bunch of the line off and start again. The next outting I was using top water frog and when I would set the hook the line would break about 5-6" from the hook. I was lucky enough to get one of my frogs back and thats how I realized it wasnt breaking at the knot like I first thought. The bass I was fishing were only 2.5 lbs so I shouldnt have broken off. Overall this line is very poorly made and I will not buy it again. Waste of money
In general this would be quite good braid but it have one giant disadvantage that eliminates it in my opinion. Last year I have tested 0,12 and 014 mm lines for seatrout fishing in European fisheries. This line have big tendency to tangle when falling off the reel spool during dynamic casts. It can happen for example when 20 meters of the line is already out. This tangles are not possible to disentangle what causes that you have to cut these 20 meters of good line. I think that reason of it could be a odd number (x9) of the fibers in this braid. My friends have very similar experieces with this line and problem is happening on many reels (Daiwa BG, Penn Spinnfisher, Ryobi Zauber).
Bought a $150 reel to put this braid on. When I bought online I picked up from Maroochydore and asked for it to be spooled. I could tell the young worker was annoyed to do this. When I got to the car my son told me he didn’t spool it properly by putting any backing on it. Sure enough he lost the whole lot to birds nesting straight away. Other places we have been to put backing on the reel when we buy and have a better attitude.
