This variegated dark teal yarn is the alternate color that I use alongside beach sand to make the 38â x 38â square of fabric. The yarn works up quick, but I donât recommend using plastic or resin crochet hooks or knitting needles. I recommend using aluminum as it will glide much better. I only found one join in each color. I highly recommend winding these into center pool balls. If you have a winder, thatâs large enough. I used a 15 mm hook for this piece and it gave me a fabric thatâs kind of loose and beachy but still 1/2â-3/4â thick and warm. It just wonât hold up to wind, so definitely a functional indoor decor item. It would also be good to use as an alternative like faux macramĂ© cord. Would buy again, but would like to see the price come down quite a bit, especially since the yarn is specifically for blankets at the price point that itâs currently sold at itâs a little bit cost prohibitive for most people right now to actually make a blanket.

I have always loved Bernat blanket yarn. It is so versatile and has so many color options. My whole family has Bernat blankets Iâve made over the years. I have arthritis and using a thicker yarn and hook sometimes makes crocheting easier and certainly the yarn itself is a dream to work with. Rarely tangles while using, doesnât snag, doesnât pill and flows smoothly while working it. Bonus, blankets, throws or afghans are so warm and cozy. I highly recommend this yarn. Itâs also a great start for beginners who have difficulty identifying where the next stitch goes or working on a difficult new stitch as itâs larger and more comfortable in your hand as you learn.

I love this yarn. I have made many amigurumi plushies as gifts and for my business. This would be the best yarn for beginners because it is thicker than acrylic yarn. I recommend using a lighter color and a thicker yarn like this Bernat Blanket yarn. I teach younger people to use yarn as an advantage. There are many ways to use yarn like for clothes, plushies, arts and crafts, and design. I have used yarn on wood to make signs, to make animals for kids, to make clothing for babies, and to make keychains.

I have been crocheting afghans using this yarn since it came out nearly 10 years ago. In my experience, the quality of this yarn has worsened over the years. I now find the thickness and consistency of this yarn depends on the color or lot. Sometimes, it's thick and consistent but other times, it's thin in places and contains an unusual amount of knots holding pieces together. I need to buy these skeins in person so I can examine the quality of each one.On the plus side, there's a huge amount of colors to choose from and the skeins go a long way. They are cost effective when they go on sale and work up rather quickly into snuggly blankets.
This ball is HUGE! I wasnât expecting it to be this large at only a little over 200yd⊠Each of these are about a foot long and probably that or close to it in girth! That being said, using a 15mm crochet hook I bought on Amazon, 2 balls of this yarn has produced a blanket seed. I followed a pattern from YouTube that yields medium large granny squares and working in the round creates an offset spiral square pattern concentrically for an optical illusion effect.. The colors in the 2 balls I ordered, this beach sand variegated color and the teal variegated color were both true to picture on my iPhone 11. This yarn is really, really SOFT⊠even before washing it⊠but the texture (which is NOT a âtrueâ chenille, more like a micro-terry cloth) is kind of grippy with the ... MoreThis ball is HUGE! The colors in the 2 balls I ordered, this beach sand variegated color and the teal variegated color were both true to picture on my iPhone 11. This yarn is really, really SOFT⊠even before washing it⊠but the texture (which is NOT a âtrueâ chenille, more like a micro-terry cloth) is kind of grippy with the plastic/epoxy resin crochet hook I used, had i opted for a smaller hook for a tighter cadence in my crochet work, it would e been irritating. I HIGHLY recommend using aluminum hooks/needles for this yarn, I could be wrong, but I would think wooden/bamboo instruments would also be cumbersome and problematic. At the 15mm crochet hook gauge the work is kind of loose and beachy, which was what I wanted. The thickness of the worked piece is between 1/2â-3/4â thick, so this makes it perfect for ME for indoor decor, throws, duvet covers, pillow covers, afghans, and even stuffed toys. This would also probably work for winter beanies, scarves, maybe sweaters, beach cover-ups, leg warmers, shopping bags/beach totes, lap/doggo blankies (my doggo approves 100%), prayer pillows, door draft-stoppers bath mats, throws, accent rugs, poufs, kettle cozies, decor doilies, even Christmas tree skirts⊠the white and red would be fantastic and plush⊠could even make stockings to match. This yarn produces THICK, squishy, comfy, soft, warm, cozy, plush very ⊠hygge items that look as comfortably squishable as they are and it works up FAST. The two balls I used alternating each round, then every 2 rounds, then three as the blanket grew to about 38â^2 - takes up 2/3 the width and 1/2 the height of (ONLY THE TOP) the surface of my queen size bed, just for reference. Though I only worked on it here and there between other things I had to do.. I got to the stopping point Iâm resting at till I pick up a few more balls in three days and Iâve got several yards left on each ball- just not enough to go a full round. As I wonât wash it til itâs finished I canât speak to shrinkage (there shouldnât be any with polyester) or the condition or tack of the fabric post-wash. So far Iâve only come across one join in the beach sand color, none in the var. teal one. One last thought, I didnât wind these, I just used them straight outta the wrapper⊠shoulda wound them. Itâs not problematic if you use a yarn bowl⊠lol I just used the paper bag Michaelâs packed my order in because theyâre so huge and it worked PERFECTLY. The teal got tangled and I now have a hamster ball to unknot. Another this you could use this yarn for might be an alternative to jute, hemp, or cotton for a soft-touch, faux-macrame cord (would be washable macrame!) Hopefully this helps someone!
Bernat Baby Blanket yarn is wonderfully soft, chemical free, and everyone I've made a blanket for loves it. Two things to keep in mind:1. Baby Blanket and regular blanket yarns are not exact matches of the same color. Baby Almond is lighter than regular Almond. The whites need to be carefully matched as they are all different by just a fine shade-Vintage White, Vanilla, Blush, and White are not the same.2. Save the specialty stitches for other thinner yarns. You can try them with this chunky yarn, but they won't show the way you think they will. So, enjoy these wonderful items, but try to make sure the colors go well together, and buy all that you need before you start! Have fun!
I have a small business making amigurumi plushies and use almost exclusively Bernat varieties. I have a wall of Bernat Blanket in dozens of colors and it never fails me. No snapping, no shedding, and consistent quality in every skein. I know my plushies will hold up and customers will be able to enjoy them for years to come. I also love that they don't contain harmful chemicals or dyes. It's a pleasure to work with and stitch definition is beautiful. I just can't say enough about this yarn.
First, I have to admit that I love the working with this yarn and the final results I get. I use it for blankets with beads, bubbles, or popcorns, or in basket weaves and it shows the texture to full advantage. And it is amazingly warm. That's the good.On the the bad side there are several issues against it. One is the way it's rolled. The majority of the skein is beautify rolled for inside draw but often there is a mini wad stuffed inside the larger ball. That was pulls out in a yarn vomits that has to be untangled before you can begin. It's too much yarn to just throw away. It's not a mistake on your part because it isn't coming from inside the skein & it is stuffed into the end of the skein. Don't know why but really hate it.The greater problem is more ... MoreFirst, I have to admit that I love the working with this yarn and the final results I get. It's not a mistake on your part because it isn't coming from inside the skein & it is stuffed into the end of the skein. Don't know why but really hate it.The greater problem is more recent. Bernat has changed the weight, texture, and color of this yarn I exclusively use Vintage White, which has a slightly ivory cast. This yarn has always been dense and famously did not crush or stretch, as many other, cheaper feeling (my opinion) yarns do. Lately, I have been receiving, and fining in stores, a different texture that does crush and is spring and stretchy, lighter in weight - still with the exact same lable. Worse than that, the color does not match. It can vary from true white to pinkish white to yellow white. There is no consistency at all. Some have point of origin India, some China (traditional source). You can have variations between what is supposed to be a single lot.Bernat Blanket has gone from being a rock solid product dependable in texture and color regardless of lot number, age, time, or point of purchase to an unreliable, inconsistent, product without even a reliable online point of purchase. It's very sad, especially for someone who is accustomed to relying heavily on this product. I easily purchased 70 to 100 10oz skeins of this a year. There is nothing like it for the price.
Very warm yarn, doesnt hurt my skin, and makes so many projects to keep me occupied and off of my constantly nagging disabilities. Picking up a round loom was the best thing to ever happen to me, i really need a deep forest green color that isnt blue tinged though for a woodsmen, and for the holidays. Pantone 627 C pretty please!!! I also really love how the more you use the yarn the more it morphs into a ball, i really enjoyed this and i always stick my knitting hook right in the middle to store it! I really hate the plastic itchy feeling of most acrylics and wools, i much prefer 100% polyester yarn. I wish there was a slightly thicker version though, there probably is and i just havent found it yet.
The color I purchased was called 'Vapor Gray'. A PSA to other customers, please make sure you look underneath the label/band prior to purchasing yarn. My best guess is that the outer layer of yarn has been "bleached/discolored" from the lights in the store. When you remove the band, the original color is shown. It may not be super noticeable when looking at the skein as a whole, but when you begin your project the color changes are obvious. Due to the way the yarn is criss crossed on the skein, half of the skein was discolored and unusable which is a shame! I'm glad I got this on sale however I paid full price for a bernat velvet skein with the same issue at another store so this isn't an isolated problem.Other than the discoloration, the yarn seems to be very soft ... MoreThe color I purchased was called 'Vapor Gray'.
