Very happy and content with this purchase. Very quick and prompt delivery despite the Covid-19 restrictions effecting postal/delivery processes. Very happy with the Beyers. Best headphones for both PC Gaming, Studio work and DJing. These have to be the best Closed Back Headphones i have used. Sonic wise, they are insane. the imaging, sound stage, frequency response and positional sound resolution is incredible. very good with sound isolation as well.

First the guys at Audio46 were johnny on the spot! Thanks guys! The Beyerdynamic DT 1770s are great. The build, well, German engineered, need I say more? Decent soundstage. Mids clear and the highs are magical. But the Audio46 buying experience made it all the better.

This is my second pair of the Beyerdynamic DT1770, my first pair I got when they came out a few years ago and the box does look different than the the current OEM box, Beyerdynamic has moved to a different presentation of their headphones and image of the company. Why a second pair? Just in case. They are that good to me, along with my Sony MDR Z7 from several years ago.
Overall, the DT 1770 Pro is an excellent headphone for the price. Comfort is very important to me, and having a large-ish head, excludes a lot of the options out there. This headphone is very comfortable, so much so that I tend to forget it's on my head at times. Regarding the quality of sound reproduction, I have been using these headphones with the iFi Zen signature set 6xx. The most fitting word that I can use as an umbrella to describe these headphones is "detail"...detail monsters. You will hear subtleties that you haven't noticed in songs that you may have listened to 100s of times before. Sometimes these subtleties lie at the outward ends of the sound stage, and this headphone uncovers them. This characteristic actually put a smile on my face a few ... MoreOverall, the DT 1770 Pro is an excellent headphone for the price. Sometimes these subtleties lie at the outward ends of the sound stage, and this headphone uncovers them. This characteristic actually put a smile on my face a few times..like wow! I never knew that instrument was there before. Additionally, the DT 1770 Pros can reproduce very low frequencies of bass and they really don't even break a sweat. 10hz? no problem..they will pump & dump with no issues. These things are a tank in every sense. This brings me to the build quality..and being a German-made product, you can feel the quality. The choice of materials is well considered for longevity, so I have no issues there. One minor gripe that I have has to do with the leather set of ear pads that come as part of the package. I tried putting them on, but I wasn't successful as the pleather ring that mounts to the headphone was way too tight to fit on the headphones ring. Not sure how long they've been sitting in the box or what, but they seem to have shrunk.
These headphones are really comfortable to wear, although they do tend to get a bit warm on the ears after a longer period of listening (with the velour pads - haven't tried the other ones yet). The sound is amazing, the bass has lots of tonal detail (i.e. it's not just "boom"). The top end is clear and presents a nice soundstage, but does sound a little rolled-off. That would be part of the closed back design I'd guess, but otherwise, a very worthy piece of kit.
I've been an Audiophile since the early 70's (which makes me a Geezer!) and I have owned myriads of equipment but on 4 sets of head phones. Some ancient 29.00 Sennhieser headphones from the 70's and a pair of Sennheiser HD 580's for about 20 years (with which I have the most experience) and some AKG thing which I haven't really listened to much from Massdrop. I wanted closed back headphones and these being a Beyerdynamic Tesla varian appealed to me. I have a NuPrime DAC 10H at present with an excellent headphone amp and an Antipodes DX server (mostly FLAC) but the objective is to get a good DAP, so I've patiently been waiting for the NuPrime Omnia P 1 (which was supposed to be released for sale in January '17 but so far nada. I wanted closed ear since I was tired of ... MoreI've been an Audiophile since the early 70's (which makes me a Geezer!) and I have owned myriads of equipment but on 4 sets of head phones. I wanted closed ear since I was tired of the 580's open air sound. Overall sonic quality tends a tad toward bright, but not enough so to bother me Bass is good. They are quick which I put down to the Tesla drivers. At my age I've lost a bit of High Freq. hearings, so being a little bright isn't a bad thing. Overall, I'm generally a loudspeaker listener, but these will serve my purposes quite nicely. Fit and finish is of high quality and they are comfortable. So these get my recommended thumbs up!!!!
I highly recommend using this for checking mixes only (if you’re producing mixing) unless you’re using a room emulator like cla nx, if I started to tweak things in the mix with these headphones, things got a little 2 dimensional, very high end focused, I recommend upgrading studio monitors first. On the other hand, these great for tracking vocals, I could hear the voice and the room with awesome clarity.
So I have only had these headphones for an hour but I am greatly enjoying them. Trying out different musical examples on different devices. Phone and computer. I primarily got these for monitoring work for voice over but I havent tried out swapping the ear pads yet. I appreciate the fact that all the parts are designed to be fixed/replaced to allow for long lasting gear. The sound itself is very clean and braid from the strong lows and blended mids and highs. Im very happy with the design and construction. Highly recommended.
Probably the best value closed back headphones available. I was going to get another pair of open back headphones, but what I really needed was a closed back pair for the isolation they afford. These are very neutral with a very natural bass. Not boomy at all. The highs are not fatiguing and the mid range is smooth. I listen mostly to classical music and find them to be more suited to that genre than my Grado GS1000e. No hesitation in my recommendations, except to say that closed back will never present the listener with the soundstage presentation of open back headphones. Just like headphones in general, will never give the soundstage of full range speakers.
