Best headphones ever used. They are super comfortable for my head. Don't run out of batteries.In Windows - When watching TV/Movies/Sports I use Dolby Access and pick the setting for what is the best. Manually go into sound to make sure its in 24 bit/96 khz. Sometimes in gaming I choose the gaming profile.When playing games I either used 'DTS Sound Unbound' which seems to go to up to 24 bit/48 khz.These headphones were were buying those 'apps' from Microsoft store.Being 80 Ohm, even currently with my HP laptop they can power these beauties enough without 'spatial sound' and defaults to 24bit/192khz.Either way, they look, feel and sound perfect to me. I have stopped using gaming headphones and bought a separate mic instead.

A good quality product

Been mixing music for 2 years now and still learning. Before purchasing this headphone, I used Koss Ur20 model for almost a year, a closed back headphones 32 or less than that Ohm headphones which is around 2.5k rupees. After unboxing and using Dt990 I was surprised surprised the sound seperation and the comfortness of the headphones and obviously the build quality looks very sturdy and it is infact. After using for 4 hours straight, my ears started aching maybe because of the pads as they aren't that comfy. Like I said at first the sound really surprised me but now it just seems like a little better headphones than my ur20, that too because of the seperation and the build quality. Overall, I can say if you've just started mixing for a year to two definitely go for this to understand how an open back headphones functions. I'm gonna spend more time using it and I think it's gonna stay longer with me now. Gotta learn every bit of it so to compare.

Better opt for a 990 Pro x or 1990 Pro

The 990 pro i received is extremely harsh on the higher frequencies, practically unbearable for me out of the box. After 50 hours of burn-in it did get smoothened slightly, however still harsh for my choice (i have not been using this for 50 hours so no question of me getting adapted). Not sure will the highs ever smoothen out to enjoyable level. Frankly speaking a too over-hyped model. I would also like to mention i have tried them on both SS & Tube Headphone amplifiers capable of handling 1W headphones (both world class amplifiers). So not an issue with insufficient power availability. What's the point of judging the other factors of a headphone if its unbearable at certain frequencies.

Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro -250ohms -Lacks transparency in the low end

The sound staging and the separation is good but there is a big bump in the 6k and 12k range and boomy subs which makes the low end muddy and whole listening experience stressful.Pros:1. Sound Staging, Separation and clarity in the mid frequencies.2. Build quality is good and very comfortable to wear the headphones for long hoursCons:1. Very harsh highs and boomy low end. Lacks transparency in the bass.2. Causes ear fatigue for just 30 minutes of listening to bass heavy genres or songs that have high pitch and strong vocals.

Clarity King!!

After 2 weeks of continuous use I am truly amazed by these headphones. Initially the sound, especially the treble was too harsh on my ears and the sound stage was in your head type. But after almost 50 hours of burning the treble has tamed a little bit and sounds perfectly fine now. The soundstage has also opened up. The sound is a little V shaped and mids are not bad but decent and so is the timbre. Instrument separation and details are the segment where these cans shine and outperforms almost all other headphones in this price range. Coming to amplification it needs a decent amplifier to not only increase its volume but also to increase the overall sound quality and soundstage. Great headphones, amazing sound.

So I grabbed these after a recording friend of mine highly recommended. I'm a player, but don't know too much about recording so I bought these straight off his recommendation as a solid pair of headphones since much of my time is spent listening to music at work.Like other posters indicated, my box came damaged since it was packed in the original packaging inside a fed-ex bag. I have my laptop and windows media cranked up all the way, so I'm curious how loud they can go through other conduits. Even cranked up all the way, the sound does not distort and is quite pleasant. No ear blow out here.Despite being open backed, as I ran through different albums the bass is fine and totally acceptable. I played a few of the old school bass tracks by DJ Magic Mike to give them a test and for normal audio play they are totally sufficient.I was lucky to grab these at the $119 price, so I'm beyond satisfied despite the box issues. My buddy was right...grab a pair. Can't wait to run my guitars through these!!

If you are not convinced go to any online headphone power calculator and see for yourself, its science. Do not fall for the audiophile myth crap.3. Though the classic tracks and modern pop tracks sounds fabulous, some modern metal tracks might not sound that nice, especially the low tuned guitars (tuned in Drop G, F or E0) are sometimes very difficult to be handled by it.4. Last but not the least, it should have a replaceable cable system. Don’t think the existing cable is bad. They are sturdy and thick, but it will break at some point of time. Also it’s not always very comfortable to have a coiled cable dangling from your left earcup. The coiled cables are heavy and they have their specific purpose, which you might not need all the time.

The best headphones for advanced mixing!

Not at all guys! Its so soft that you wont even notice you're wearing headphones!The soundstage is a bit opposite to the ATH-M35s, but I prefer that and I use a mix of both during mixing and mastering. The M35s can show me the overall balance of a song, I make tonal mixing decisions with those. But the Beyerdynamics have a bit of a harsh high-end which is totally perfect for identifying problems in a mix and due to the awesome stereo imaging (cause it's open-back) I can place instruments very easily in the stereo space. Its hands-down wayyy better than the M50x for anything besides recording, which is the only use for those rn.If you're mixing mainly on headphones then I'd say(1) use any good closed-back for recording, something with a lot of color and hype so that u enjoy the music and get a good take.(2) Then use the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro for production, making synths, recording MIDI drums or even electric guitars and stuff, basically the bulk of messing around with sounds, doing sound design and stuff.(3) Check the mix every once in a while with a flat response headphone, something that's not from Beyerdynamic and which doesn't have the awesome highs like the DT990 pro (for example, ATH-M35)(4) Basically continue your whole mix in these (DT 990 Pro)(5) Check on consumer devices like very cheap bluetooth speakers and Samsung earplugsand you will get a very good production which translates well everywhere!Really loving these headphones, do listen to movie soundtracks from Netflix (Squid Game sounds really awesome!) and also Anime soundtracks like Kimi No Nawa and stuff on theseThere's a link somewhere of the music I mixed with these, do check that out! The sound quality is top notch. I am a user of Jabra, Harman kardon, shure, audio technica, final, senheisser and bose. I love audio like anything so when I say 990 pro is a God level headphone, trust me. A few people claim it has no bass but trust me it has v deep and extended bass. To me more bass than this will substantially reduce other frequencies and hence affect clarity. The bass is sufficient. Further enhancement can be done using equilizer. One very very imp aspect: this is a 250 ohm impedance headphone. Very hard to drive. The volume would be too low. Literally it's 100% is equal to 40 % of my shure Aonic 250 IEM. I combined it with BTR7 (a 15k dac and amp) and after that also 100% vol is loud enough for a silent room but in noisy places vol might still seem low. Hence, a powerful dac and amp is a must with this. If u r a audio lover and u can spend extra bucks for dac and amp, u will dead shot love this German made master peace. A lovely headphone for audiophiles. Also please give a few hours of time to open up and sound freely with maximum driver output.

These phones are well made and comfortable, the plastic headband though cheap actually does a good adjustable job, keeps it firmly on the head without ever being too hot or 'clampy' - even after wearing for several hours. [and this in the hot weather!]The foam around your ears is comfortable, too.Sound: everything is ok, the base is never boomy, its quite tight, but it does not extend down much, bassheads would be unimpressed, the midrange is a bit 'cloggy' a little muddled, but it is pretty okay, the tremble is a bit suppressed , although transients can be heard - like a cymbal for instance - its steep 'up' in sound and then its diminishing down is rather lost. AND THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPROTANT: the beyer dt900 prox is £210, the Grado 325e is £280 [?] i haven't heard the dt900 pro x, but i have heard the grado 325. it was massively superior in every way: no exception. How much do you want to spend? If your limit is £100. the Dt990 pro would be a good comfortable well mad friend for your ears. And as for money? gosh, i shouldn't talk about it these days. But i guess there are even better headphones at insane prices. Set your budget. Stick to it.
