Fantastic machine that I paired up with a BWT Filtration system hard lined into my refrigerator line. I don't want to jinx it but beyond an initial snag when I first recieved it (loose electrical connector) this machine has operated flawlessly. It produces top notch shots and has great steaming capability. I drink coffee out of my 30oz Yeti and I don't have to steam the milk halfway, wait for my machine to re-heat and then steam it the rest of way the way like I used to do with my old Capresso. I'm coming up in Feb on 2 years of ownership and will probably have it professionially serviced. If you can put this on a 20amp circuit I recommend doing so. This enables both the steamer heater and shot heater to operate simultaneously, otherwise you need to set the heater ... MoreFantastic machine that I paired up with a BWT Filtration system hard lined into my refrigerator line. The Bezzera Duo DE is a beautiful machine to look at however, that is about the only thing so far, that I was able to do. After arrival of the almost $ 3,000.00 machine and very positive talks with Mark from WholeLatteLove during the purchasing process, I was stoked, especially after my disappointing Breville Oracle experience. I set up the machine, as well as my ECM grinder, took about 3 days to fine tune all and after having had my first great cup of coffee, one of the boilers stopped heating. The second strange thing, the water tank display, despite having it set up properly, always shows the same, never changing level. I reached out to WholeLatteLove, with an electronic return message promising a call / email back within 24 to 48 hours. I reached out to WholeLatteLove, with an electronic return message promising a call / email back within 24 to 48 hours. As a new client to this company, despite obvious frustration for having a brand new machine not working, it has now been 5 days and WholeLatteLove did not feel the need to reply. I have sent 2 more emails and one phone call (voice message), as a follow up, with some urgency, since we all drink coffee every day (at least those who love, need coffee and don't mind spending a good amount of money to have something good to prepare the coffee with. Generally, when purchasing items for over $ 4,000.00 with a company, one should believe that a certain level of customer service, to make things right and do so immediately, is a given...not so this time. It's been 5 days, 3 emails and zero response to resolve the situation. I attached a photo, displaying the boiler temperature responsible for supplying hot water to the group head to draw a shot of espresso, as well as the filled up water tank, and the display, showing the same water level since I got the machine, no matter how empty of full. At this point I am utterly frustrated as the situation unfolds. Put yourself in my shoes...super excited to buy a new machine (btw, we own a coffee company, Naya Premium Coffee, we own a coffee farm in Colombia, Finca Naya, we sell coffee, so I am somewhat familiar with coffee machines, and the general subject of coffee) . I drink coffee every day, so does my wife and daughter. This machine only has to produce 4 cups a day. If I now go to a coffee shop to buy some Cafe Latte's, at 4 cups a day and the average price amounting to around $ 6.00 per cup, I would have to spend $ 720.00 a month. So every day I have to wait to get this machine replaced, I lose money....this machine only ships on a palette. Should it be on me to ship this back, repackage it, wait for a replacement (as I don't want this machine at this point to be repaired) . It'll take 2 weeks, let alone the arrangements for repackaging, palette purchase, tie downs etc etc . BUT, to get any of this started, I would first need to get a response....In summary, WholeLatteLove is all over the internet when searching for coffee, the initial interaction was fantastic, Mark was a great source, though in the end, I guess ones the money is spent, at least so it appears, the customer service does not exist any longer. So, be cautious when spending your money, who you are giving the business.

3-yr-old machine paired with Rocket Faustino grinder and Pro internal upgrades in the portafiler and leveler (WLL purchase), this unique machine produces beautiful and consistent results even doing "one-offs" twice a day. While E61 has its place especially in higher-volume settings, there is a lot to be said about a fully automatic machine with the fast heat-up of the heating elements in the GH (although the earlier machines had a glitch that led to circuit board failure that seems resolved in today's machines. I use just one heater which is plenty which takes the wattage draw down). The level and ease of programmanbility and measuring on this machine is second to none and allows very precise fine-tuning with immediate visibility. The short answer: 100% satisfied. Since buying this machine, I have no desire to buy drinks at cafes any more. Unless it's a top-tier specialty shop, I can tell that my drinks are better. The results are definitely better than my previous machines. When I taste pure espresso, it's very often too bitter or too sour. The goal is to extract in-between those two ranges, which is where the flavor comes out. The steamed milk hides bitterness and sourness, but the drink is far better when the espresso is brewed perfectly. That's what a machine like this is all about... hitting that sweet spot, and delivering milk that's perfectly steamed, without being just hot milk or stiff foam.I owned a Pavoni Europiccola, a Nespresso, and most recently a Breville espresso machine, and ... MoreThe short answer: 100% satisfied. The steamed milk hides bitterness and sourness, but the drink is far better when the espresso is brewed perfectly. That's what a machine like this is all about... hitting that sweet spot, and delivering milk that's perfectly steamed, without being just hot milk or stiff foam.I owned a Pavoni Europiccola, a Nespresso, and most recently a Breville espresso machine, and I wanted to upgrade. I wanted something which would create no-compromise espresso, with excellent milk steaming and high quality. I wanted the appearance of the Italian E61 machines. Still, I found that choosing among so many machines is difficult and confusing. The prices of the E61 machines were about $1,700 for a heat exchange model and about $2,500~$3,200 for a dual boiler. That's a big difference, but the dual boiler machines offer a lot more: For starters, with a dual-PID, dual boiler, the espresso temperature is perfect. The two boilers hold a lot of water at the correct temperature, so the stability of those temperatures is outstanding. With a heat exchange machine, especially one like the Appartmento (which has no PID), you can get overheating or fluctuations.Another advantage with the dual boiler machines is that most of them have a rotary pump, which means they can be plumbed in. Not a big deal? Well, it's a big deal if you've weighed/ground/distributed/tamped your shot and you run out of water in the middle of pulling that shot. And if you've ever spilled a drip tray of water on your kitchen floor, that's also a big deal. It's very nice if you can do it, like the convenience of an automatic ice maker/water dispenser in your fridge. If you've decided to take the plunge for a device at this level, there are a lot of choices, such as ECM Synchronika, Profitec, Crem, Rocket and Lelit Bianca. So why am I so happy with this one?First off, the Duo MN is considerably less expensive than all of the others, except for Profitec. Not only that, but the touchscreen display is unique and extremely useful. In fact, Bezzera uses this display system on their professional cafe models as well. Only by using this machine can you appreciate how much thought Bezzera put into this display system: While I'm pulling a shot, it's a shot timer, and a big one at that. It also shows me both boiler temperatures and the pressure in real-time, and it shows me whether one of the boilers is heating or ready. You can tap either temperature to adjust the temperature and the pre-infusion time. I can also program the machine to wake and sleep on a schedule. The touchscreen feature is very underrated; it is fantastic. By the way, I operate this machine so that both boilers can heat simultaneously, which can draw over 15 Amps, but I've never had a problem. Although WholeLatteLove recommends recommends operating the boilers so that they heat separately (which you set with the touchscreen), the machine can recover faster with simultaneous operation. You just need a dedicated circuit, preferably a 20A circuit (15A is standard in most cases in the US).Having used this touchscreen, it is not a gimmick; it is very useful. Other advantages of this machine are the included wood accents; most brands charge even more for the wood accents. Overall, the construction quality and performance are fantastic. I've never had a machine that steams milk well, but this machine doesn't just steam milk perfectly, it does it very fast; I can steam enough milk for a cappuccino in about ten seconds, and it's perfect milk, I can make latte art with it... it's much better than the milk frother I had before or the attachment I used with the Pavoni. If you haven't steamed milk before, or if you failed at it before, you'll find that with this machine, it's very easy to get perfect milk every time.Lastly, some machines in this category (well... the Lelit Bianca) offer flow profiling. That is not a feature I'm interested in right now, but I might want it later if my skills improve. My understanding is that E61 machines can be upgraded to add the flow profiling feature, but I'm going to wait and possibly upgrade later. It's still less expensive to buy this machine and add a flow profiling valve later.
I already own 200 ml cappucino cups by Inker, which I am very happy with. Since I am learning to do latte art, I was finding that I was running out of cup volume to do my designs. I thought 250 ml would give me more space to struggle with me coffee-milk balance, so I ordered cups of the Luna capuccino model, which also has a handle that seems to improve stackability. After having used them, I can testify to the fact that they do stack better. However, it comes at a cost. The handle is not as wide as on the regular Inker capuccino model. The thumb therefore rests on a narrower piece of ceramic, which, combined to the heavier weight of the cup, makes it a more difficult balancing act. The thumb therefore rests on a narrower piece of ceramic, which, combined to the heavier weight of the cup, makes it a more difficult balancing act. I sometimes have to hold the bottom of my cup with my other hand, when it is filled, to avoid it tilting down. My husband, who has bigger hands, concurs. The saucer that is suggested to go with it is a latte size, and I find it a bit big.So all said, it is a very nice cup, the size is unique, and I still like it. For the balancing issue that I noted, one might want to compare with the ACME espresso range latte cup (280 ml) which has a handle that is wider and easier to grip, but less stackable. ACME does not however have a 250 ml equivalent. The light blue color is very nice, and the shape of the cup provides a good canvas for the espresso. If I had to do it again, I would buy only 2 cups, as training cups. Once I stop fumbling with the timing of my milk pour, I will no longer need the 50 ml additional countenance for the cappucino cup, and the regular model is in the end easier to hold and to handle.
This is a solid machine that makes really really good espresso. Everything about the machine feels very well made and great quality. And the quality of the espresso brewed with the machine is pretty amazing.Set up, if you choose to plum the machine, takes a little time to get the filter set up, machine supply attached and drain in place. The one thing I have been surprised about is that the rotary pump is a bit noisier than I had expected.
1st, Clive us a great vendor. They’re honest and follow through.2nd. When buying a fancy espresso machine, put more of your psychic energy and money into the grinder than the espresso machine. You will hear that the grinder is more important than the machine, and you should believe it. It’s not just salesman hype. Especially if you like to try a lot of different coffees.3rd. The Bezzera duo is an excellent machine. I like having dual boiler and I’m glad I went for it. The touch screen is super intuitive and easy to use. Warm up is rapid. I added on the flow control and while I was dubious at first, it’s actually worthwhile, especially if you have diverse coffee tastes. I’m very happy with the purchase.
I got this machine March.2024. This is my first machine. I wanted a dual boiler, programmable on/off scheduling, a rotary pump so I could hook it to a waterline, flow control, Italian made, the knobs v. handles on the valves, and a mostly flat black finish. I thought I wanted a machine that I could turn on/off from my mobile device but having used it for several weeks, the on/off schedule works for my needs, and the few times I’ve wanted to make a coffee in the off schedule, turning it on and it coming up in temperature really doesn’t take that long, i didn’t time it but I had it in my head it would take 20minutes to come up, but it feels fast, maybe 10-minutes. I didn’t run the 20-amp to the receptacle, still might, but so far running on 15-amp has been just fine ... MoreI got this machine March.2024. This is my first machine. Okay, I have zero experience with Flow Control and every video I see talking about flow control says the flow can be adjusted much farther than my unit, so I am sure it must be an upgrade thing. I also love the manual operation of this, coming from a superautomatic I am in Love. This makes so much better espresso and I have so much more control. The dual boiler makes it very easy to pull shots and steam milk that I have had to learn a who new way of doing things. If I had any complaints it would be getting use to the auto shutdown of the machine. I haven't gone in to program the auto on/off feature yet, which the manual says will disable the eco mode. I received the Bezzera Duo MN a couple of months ago. This was a replacement for my Rocket Giotto single boiler machine which I have used for more than 10 years (and it was still going just fine - one change of a PID a couple of years ago). But I was in the market for an upgrade (the Giotto is still active, but in a different location) and I looked at many machines (around $3,000), read numerous reviews and watched way too many videos. In essence I did my research. I looked company websites, I looked at retail websites, I read various unbiased reviews (well as unbiased as reviews can be these days, thanks to Amazon). In essence I did my research. I looked company websites, I looked at retail websites, I read various unbiased reviews (well as unbiased as reviews can be these days, thanks to Amazon). BTW, one place from where I was not going to purchase, was Amazon. After reading and knowing my requirements - double boiler, programmable shots (for my lovely wife's convenience), a convenient footprint, joystick wands (I got bored with the turning knobs of the Giotto - and I think joysticks are easier and quicker to control), there were only a handful of choices. My choices cam down to Lucca, ECM and Bezzera after applying the first filters. Then I started to read about the machines in more detail. Build quality brought me to Bezzera and ECM. I will say, it was a close race between the two and I was struggling to make a decision. Then I delved a bit into the heated group head of the Bezzera and the boiler priorities. I also liked the touch screen concept. Hence after all the considerations, I ended up with the Bezzera. I will say though, if I needed to machines and could afford it, I would have a Bezzera Duo MN and the ECM Synchronika. BTW, the Synchronika is close $800 more than the Duo MN. Clive Coffee has always been great, so it was a no brainer to order from them, despite a long wait to get the machine (because of manufacturing delays and the pandemic). I got the machine set up in the first 72 hours. I used the water tank for the first some weeks and now it has been plumbed for 3 weeks. We have perfect water in the house - centralized softener and de-ionizer system, so the water for the espresso is simply delightful. The included manual is so-so and I used a combination of phone calls, emails, user's manuals, Clive guides, Clive videos to get it set up. BTW, a lot of this is because I had not set up a machine in many years, the tech has changed, this is an advanced prosumer machine, and I am a bit OCD. Nonetheless it was all set up in a few hours (I did reach out to Clive again after it being plumbed as I was having an issue with leaks - but because of my own mistakes). If you have never set up a machine before, I recommend a combination of the avenues I used to get it perfect. Once I got it "hooked in," WOW!! What a delight. I have taken advantage of the programmed shot options and I do need to redefine the settings when the coffee is changed as the grind changes as does the extraction ratio programmed). I do miss pulling up the handle on the E61 group head to start the extraction, but the buttons have been okay :). I like the heated group head - the espresso is hotter and my sense is that the machine gets to temperature quicker. Most often I steam the milk sequentially to the extraction (a left over hat from the single boiler Rocket Giotto). A handful of times I have steamed simultaneously with the extraction, and it has worked perfectly - no issues. I am trying to change the sequential habit when I am at the Bezzera (as opposed the the Rocket Giotto). Regarding the settings and the menu options, there are plenty and they are all meaningful, in that, you should consider each of them to be important (even the lighting). I have not taken advantage of the double boiler simultaneous heating; albeit I am on a dedicated 20 amp circuit, the outlet is still the standard three prong (NEMA something), hence I am using the converter cord that came with the machine (I will have the outlet changed in due time). I have the machine set on brew boiler priority. I love the ability to set the clock for when the machine should turn on and off (I had the Rocket Giotto on a smart plug for this function). Hence it is always ready for my morning extraction. A couple of notes on the clock - albeit you can set the time for one day (for a Monday, as an example) and then synchronize that same setting for all the days by push of a single button), you cannot set multiple on/off times for the same day (hence a smart plug may still provide value in this case - but you will be limited to 15 amps - I do not know of any smart plugs that have the 20 amp female prong setup). Also, setting the times is not straightforward. The movement of the numbers is paintakingly slow, especially in 2022). My last criticism is the touch screen. It is a bit finicky. It is not always the most responsive and you may have to push a couple of times to get a response (even pressing in the right area of the top left corner). I love the ability to put the machine in standby mode with a couple of touches and then re-activate it with a single touch. The machine heats up very quickly (within 5-7 minutes) despite being on brewer boiler priority. If you are used to the E61 group head - the Bezzera has its own group head and the wings of the portafilter are in the 7 o'clock and 1 o'clock positions, so you will not be able to use the E61 group head portafilters. This is not an issue at all, as the machine comes with two gorgeous portafilters and I purchased an additional black handled one with a Bezzera logo (absolute beauty). On the programmed shots the extractions are consistent and the coffee is rich and I am actually seeing less channeling. I am pretty consistent with my coffee bean types, so I do think this machine's extraction handles grinding/tamping imperfections better. It took a bit getting used to for the milk steaming - changing to the joystick from the knobs and also adjusting to the higher steam pressure. But once I got used to it - I am thoroughly enjoying steaming milk - sometimes just for the sake of steaming fun (well it ends up in my tea at some point - no wastage). I am absolutely loving this machine. Now some of this maybe because this was a major upgrade from what I had previously. Also, this machine looks absolutely beautiful in our kitchen and the footprint was perfect. Unfortunately I can't post any pictures with the review, it seems (although I did take couple or three). My verdict: An excellent buy; an advanced prosumer machine; a bit pricey - but you indeed get the premium quality for the price. Should this be your first machine, if you are just getting into espresso - I would say, "yes," if the price is within your budget. Here is why - there is no reason for one not to go towards a higher end machine as a first purchase because this machine is forgiving and it will give you the ability to hone your skill - it will applaud your improvements as you learn and overlook some of your early mistakes.
