I bought this Moka to replace the one I purchased 33 years ago, in 1999. That has been used extensively ever since, and I only replaced it because the inner basket got damaged. This is the best coffee-maker there is: you will see one in most Italian kitchens, as well as elsewhere on the Continent. It makes perfect coffee every time and is easy and economical to use. Do not be tempted by copycat Made in China coffee pots ( as sold in some supermarkets, for example)- they are not the same, even though visually they may look similar. It has to be Bialetti Made in Italy! Top tip: dismantle after use, use wash quickly by hand in hot water (you don't need any detergent) and allow to dry naturally.

Apparently the variant that's capable of making coffe for two persons, is not capable to make for only one. If you want to drink coffee alone, you need to buy another coffee-maker.It's because the company does not sell an adjustable-size coffee-compartment, like other brands do. Imagine the CO2 emitted only to ship this piece of waste round and round in the world.

Have looked at the 3 cop Mona forever. Don’t know why I never bought one. It is incredibly affordable, creates no pod recycling problem, is a model of elegantly simple engineering and makes a fantastic cup of coffee. I fill with water boiled in my kettle and finish heating on a sealed surface electric cook top on medium heat. Takes 3 minutes to finish on the stove. Have a kitchen towel handy to protect your hand when screwing the parts together after adding the hot water. Screw together firmly to avoid leakage during heating. Some reviewers complain of the handle getting too hot. I place the unit on the edge of the burner so the handle doesn’t hang over the heat element. No problem. I use Illy Perfetto moka grind. I own a well used 2 cup Bialetti stovetop moka pot and when I purchased it sveral years ago, I thought it was made in Italy because that is what is stated on the front of the pot. Turns out, it was made in China! I Bought this 6 cup size because it is apparently the smallest you can purchase if you want a Bialetti moka pot made in Italy. As you will see in the photo, the seal has markings around it. I could have overlooked this because of course the pot was going to be washed before use, but the seal is not tight. If you look closely you can see the gaps. The top of the pot does not screw on well either. I don't know what type of coating is used for the bottom of the pot, but it is certainly shiny... The last pot I purchased and returned (different brand) had what appeared to be the same type of coating and that coating yielded an undrinkable beverage that tasted like there was chemical solevant leaching. To be fair I have not used this pot. It's a shame, but it really seems like this is no longer a well made brand of moka pots. Perhaps this one slipped through the quality test. I will be returning it for a refund without putting it to use.
Bought the 9 cup size as we like mugs of coffee. This does two mugs. You can dilute the coffee in the mug if you wish but I make mine with half a mug of microwaved milk. I also have a manual milk frother and get a lovely hot cup of frothy coffee! Had bought a Nepresso machine a couple of years ago but the coffee was always luke warm and the pods very expensive so stopped using it. The whole process of using this coffee maker is more enjoyably. Love hearing it come to the boil! Smells lovely. I use it on electric hob on medium heat. Easy to clean. Quick tip for emptying coffee from filter, turn filter upside down and blow down the pipe. Most of the coffee comes out in a lump. Never use washing up liquid or dishwasher. Just rinse with hot water and make sure dry well ... MoreBought the 9 cup size as we like mugs of coffee. This does two mugs. I have used percolators for over 20 years. This is my thirdBialetti. The last version had an issue with mold, but they seemed to fix it by removing the grooves in the pot. I just re-purchased it last week, I have used it every day since then, and today, it almost CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT WAS SMOKING!!! it filled my house with smoke and put my family in danger! The gasket has completely melted and fused to the inside. I have used these daily for years, so I know how to properly assemble it. The store is giving me a hard time because I can't find the receipt. I don't know what changed with this version, I feel like they went cheap with the parts, particularly the gasket. It must be made with cheap plastic. I'm really disappointed and actually scared. Now I need to switch ... MoreI have used percolators for over 20 years. This is my thirdBialetti. Bought this as recently visited Rome and realised my very expensive espresso machine wasn’t cutting it. Bought this traditional moka pot as not at all expensive and hoped might be nearer to the coffee I had in Rome. Produces a richer espresso which is great but no crema but I prefer the richness of the espresso it produces. I now alternate between this and the expensive machine. Removed 1 star as leaks very slightly towards end of brewing but very pleased with it as so inexpensive and outsides delicious rich espresso. I use Lavazza Crema e Gusto ground coffee with it as no fuss but might try buying beans for more freshness.
Have used fancy-brand coffee pods for years but could no longer justify the high cost (especially cause I used 3 pods per cup) so was looking for another way to make nice coffee. Tried some cheaper pods but they’re all awful.Learnt how to use a Moka Pot properly (thanks Youtube) and am very happy with this purchase!I bought the 6 cup, and use this to make one big strong coffee (I add half a cup of hot milk).Definitely saves me a lot of money just buying ground coffee now rather than pods, and the coffee is delicious. Easy to use, easy to clean. Great price from Myer. Highly recommend!
This is literally the best purchase I’ve ever made! Been spending a disgusting amount of money on stupidly expensive iced lattes and decided I should just try to make my own. Bought this with low expectations/confidence (in myself, not the product) and omg… so easy and SO DELICIOUS! Be sure to run it through a clear cycle just water the first few times. VERY user friendly; only three pieces total. Whole process to brew takes maybe 5-7 minutes which I honestly found super impressive! It tastes the same if not better than the chain espresso drinks! Buy it !!!
How is it that I am a 32 year old foodie and long time coffee drinker and just now finding out how awesome this little pot is?! I have wanted one for years but thought I would not use it much so it would be a waste of money and just another dust collector. I finally broke down and bought one expecting to only use it occasionally but boy was I wrong. This thing makes great coffee. My husband and I are obsessed and use this thing multiple times a day. I need to buy a bigger one because we are sometimes too impatient to let it cool before preparing the next cup haha. Make sure you break it in with some cheap coffee 3-4 times before drinking the first cup. We have tried super fancy coffee and value coffee in this pot - all were good in their own right. The coffee is good straight as espresso or as an americano or as a latte. I can't figure out why someone would pay hundreds for a espresso maker when this thing is only $35 or so and it's great/easier to clean and store.. I will keep my Mr. Coffee only so I can use the delay timer for those occasional very early rushed mornings but this our new go-to for coffee.
