Constructed of lightweight, high-tenacity fabrics and employing an auto-adjusting suspension system, the roll-top Big Agnes Prospector 50L pack is an excellent option for overnight backpacking trips. Committed to a "Leave No Trace" ethic, Big Agnes also includes a simple, but effective Trash Can accessory. The pack's suspension system includes a cored aluminum perimeter frame, a curved, body-mopped backpanel, and an integrated "Hoist Compression" system that pulls weight inward and upward while raising the bottom panel to ensure a positive load transfer. Though the pack doesn't have torso length adjustability, it is available in two sizes to ensure a proper fit. The Medium pack best fits 18"-20" torso lengths and the Large size best fits from 20"-22". An adjustable "Open Range" hipbelt aids in load stability and uses cut-away construction to avoid excess weight or bulk. Load-lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap allow for additional fit fine-tuning. A roll-top closure provides access to the spacious interior of the pack. A zipper imbedded in the backpanel allows additional access without having to undo the roll-top closure. A deep stretch pocket and mesh side pockets offer additional places to stow gear you may want to put hands on while on the move. A smaller zippered pocket adds extra security for small valuables. Other features include removable hipbelt pockets, trekking pole attachments, ice axe loops, daisy chain gear attachment points, and an integrated top handle. A hydration bladder pocket, tube routing port, and a drinking tube clip on the sternum strap make the pack hydration compatible (hydration system not included). The included Trash Can clips to the face of the pack for convenient removal of any litter. The Big Agnes Prospector 50L internal fame backpack is available in your choice of sizes and colors.

I had been eyeing the big Agnes prospector 50L pack for a couple years and was finally ready to bite the bullet and pay full price. I’m browsing REÍ and see it but decide to check a few other sites in a whim to see if I can find a better deal, and lo and behold they have it on here for over half off! Ordered immediately and started to get anxious because typically when things seem too good to be true, they are. But no issues they processed my order quickly and item showed up in a few days after I had placed order. Love this pack! So many convenient options like the zipper on underside so I don’t have to unpack stuff to access bottom or middle. I love this pack, it is the second one I have owned. It is light but strong although the expandable pockets do get snagged on the swing bridges, the rest holds up pretty well. Watch the sizing, if you are on the cusp get the smaller back so the hip belt sits well

Pros: the BA Prospector looks good. Back panel access is smart and will hold up because it's not under load. nice large side pockets. That's where it ends.Cons: doesn't fit me well, waist belt doesn't fit well, doesn't carry load properly, pulls away from my back despite multiple repackings, front mesh pocket doesn't really expand at all, and the load straps and other load controls are just plain odd.BA might make some nice tents, but after 40+ years of using packs, this is the biggest miss of a pack I've ever tried. For the same money I'd check out the Sierra Designs Flex Capacitor 40-60 liter pack instead. Better fit, better features, better weight, better sweat relief, just better pack.

Huge bargain. You have to get used to no “brain” compartment, but this makes me a fan of roll-tops. It has nice details like three back/side cinch straps and two daisy-chain gear loops on the back, which let you strap on what would have towered over the top. I didn’t have any trouble cinching the belt across my 34” waist. My go-to pack now.
Y’all are really missing out on an amazing bag. I really am a big fan of big Agnes especially after being in steam boat for so long. But I will say this bag is meeting every expectation I had for it. I can fit everything I need in it and then some. I’m no expert hike in camper at all but I can get what I need to where I want to go comfortably and safely. As of right now I can fit my tent, sleeping bag, bed roll, clothes, and extras all in the bag with my hatchet and pick axe on the outside as well. This thing is awesome. This may be my pack for life.
This pack is great for what it is, a 50L light internal frame stuff sack! It doesn’t have a ton of additional features, but the things it does if does really well. The hip belt is my favorite thing about it, it’s wide and comfortable! The side pockets are huge and they are great! The only draw back is the front “stretch” pocket has very little stretch to it, but other than that, I couldn’t have asked for a better pack! Big Agnes does it again!
I like the style and pockets on the pack. The padding on the shoulder straps seems a bit harder than most. The real shame was that I could not cinch the hip belt tight enough due to the style. I have a 33-34” waist. The fit through the torso was good.
I have Osprey Kestral 38, Neither 55, Stratos 24, and Fjallraven Keb 72. I was looking for a lightweight, minimal backpack that I found this little lovely pack.It has two BIG side pockets which are perfect and bigger than all my other backpacks.Overall I'm happy with this pack. Simple and comfortable. The back opening is an amazing feature that allows you access to all your gear and your reservoir.Highly recommended.
After a few training hikes with the big Agnes prospect getting the suspension adjusted I started to really like this pack. Then we did a short section of the NCT and for sure this pack is a winner. My go to pack has been a Gregory baltoro, the prospect weighs a full 3 pound less and fit my 5’10’’ frame better the shoulder straps are not as comfortable as the gregory but it’s not a dealbreaker. The water bottle pockets are much bigger as are the hip belt pockets with easier to use zippers. For the price this pack carries well is quiet and comfortable. I do recommend it.
Only had this a couple weeks so here goes...fit is great and easily adjustable to change from shoulders to hips. I only used this as a day hike just get used to it. I loaded it up for a solo early winter overnight and found it holds everything needed. Will review again in actual use with measured weights...first impression excellent!
