A great backpacking investment

Love this double pad. It's comfortable and quiet to sleep on. It is pretty lightweight and rolls up comparable to the older style self inflating Thermarest. Perfect to save space when heading into the backcountry with another person to share this with. It is insulated as well which is a bonus if you are camping up at higher elevation subalpine areas. It comes with an inflation sack, so takes little time to inflate. It also has a quick deflate tab for quick and easy packing up.I highly recommend for 2-person backcountry and especially if you want some comfort too.

Completely changed my backpacking/camping sleep experience. Perfectly fits the floor of the copper spur 2, allowing me to turn however I want without falling off the sleeping pad or having my arms weirdly dangling below the rest of my body. An inch thicker than my previous nemo sleeping pad has eliminated my need to overfill the sleeping pad to prevent my butt from hitting the ground. One million percent worth the added weight, even for a single person.

Double pad, not so great

It IS the pad bottom to tent floor friction that causes the 'squeak'.Defeats the purpose of the pad needing to carry something additional to keep it quiet.Tried in two BA tents (Copper Spur 2 platinum and Copper Spur 3 HV) and both exhibited same noise.Pad is genuinely comfy and expect the single to be a better choice but beware the noise possibility. The bounce and noise of the double outweighs the comfort.

Not for people who move when sleeping
24 July 2024

I used this Big Agnes pad for 4 nights. It gets 3 stars for comfort and 1 star for noise. If you shift positions at night - from back to your side or vice versa, this pad makes a lot of noise. It squeaks and makes a plastic rustling sound. Loud enough to wake up anyone else in the tent. Two of us had Big Agnes pads and you could hear the squeaking all through the night. It needs some kind of lightweight fabric liner. Or can’t they invent non- squeak plastic?

Started leaking after one night
28 July 2024

I bought this pad for a big camping trip and after using it for one night, it stopped holding air. I happened to be in Steamboat where Big Agnes is based. I stopped in their store and they looked at the pad and told me that Backcountry sold me a sales sample, which is not the final product and is more likely to be defective. Backcountry’s return policy says they only accept undamaged, unused gear. My pad was used for one night and clearly damaged/defective so I didn’t bother trying to return it. I guess this is why it’s best to purchase directly from the manufacturer and not from a retailer selling samples at discounted prices - Big Agnes gave me store credit but couldn’t refund me since I didn’t purchase from them.

Very comfortable 2-person option for backpacking
2 May 2023

My 6 yo son and I used this on a camping trip and we had plenty of room for sleeping (I'm 5'11"), plus just enough room past the foot of the pad to put two packs inside our 2-man tent.It is much more comfortable than the ultralight sleeping pads I've used in the past. For sure, less noise when moving around than other sleeping pads I've used, though it's definitely not silent. I'm a side sleeper and I was very comfortable--probably the best night's sleep on a backpacking trip I've had so far. I've used more comfortable camp beds, but only for car camping trips due to weight restrictions (inflatable mattress, Exped megamat). I've used more comfortable camp beds, but only for car camping trips due to weight restrictions (inflatable mattress, Exped megamat). Regarding weight, this isn't ultralight, but if I were splitting the total load between two people, I would definitely take this backpacking again. I'm 46 and I will take the extra ounces for more comfort. Some reviews mentions it being very warm, almost too warm, in the tent using this pad. I didn't quite experience this, but we had 30-40 degree weather during the night, and kept the tent ventilated to the max with a rainfly on.It comes with an inflation sack, and using that it takes about 5 minutes to inflate the pad. The interior has an anti-microbial finish, so it should be fine to finish up inflation with a final few breaths without worrying about mold build-up on the inside. I didn't like the feel of it fully inflated so I was able to open and quickly close the deflate tab to release some air. When packing up the pad deflates super fast and packs relatively easily to about the size of a football.I highly recommend for 2-person backpacking, or even car camping if you need to maximize space, and especially if you want to gain some comfort.

Very comfortable for two people
13 June 2024

My husband and I are in our early 60’s, and we are experienced campers and backpackers. We got this pad because we needed to take camping gear on a cross-country flight to camp near a national park in Utah with our adult children, and our Xped 10 (which has a slow leak anyway) was too bulky to pack in a suitcase with our other gear. The Big Agnes SL Insulated Tent Floor is not self-inflating and rolls into a surprisingly small volume for its inflated size. In addition to being compact for transportation, it was extremely comfortable - easily as comfortable as any double pad we’ve used for camping. The lows were 40ish and the pad was plenty warm below, though I don’t think we tested its limits, but we’ll likely use it in colder weather and expect it will be fine.I ... MoreMy husband and I are in our early 60’s, and we are experienced campers and backpackers. The lows were 40ish and the pad was plenty warm below, though I don’t think we tested its limits, but we’ll likely use it in colder weather and expect it will be fine.I was concerned that the wedge shape (which allows it to fit into some 2-person tents) would be limiting but there was plenty of room for the two of us. (I think the 40-inch wide rectangular version would have been too narrow for us as we both use 25” individual pads for backpacking, but apparently 40 inches is plenty wide for our feet!)I did order a larger inflation sack that the one that came with the pad (Big Agnes Pump House), which allowed me to inflate the pad quickly - though I think its usefulness for other things is exaggerated. We at least partially deflated the pad every morning to get it out of the way in our tent (a Big Agnes Big House 4 that we were sharing with our son), and re-inflating in the evenings just took a minute or two. We don’t have one of those tiny portable electric pumps - that would work fine too but didn’t seem necessary. The pad was a little trickier to deflate fully for packing than a one-person inflatable due to the width and the way the air tubes run. Let’s just say that it’s best to get as much air as possible out (by rolling from foot to head with the deflate valve fully open, maybe a couple of times) before folding the pad and rolling it for storage. If this is done, the pad fits easily into its sack.No complaints about the pad, really - it just has a little learning curve. We got it for travel and car camping - it’s too heavy and bulky for backpacking. For its intended purpose it was better than expected.

Warm and comfy
24 August 2024

We got Double Wide sleeping pad to match our King Solomon Double Sleeping Bag. It can be a bit narrow if you prefer to have space between you and your partner but is perfect if you like to cuddle. Don't get it if you plan to use with your friends. It's definitely not wide enough for two adults in separate sleeping bags. The included pump sack is huge and can fully inflate the pad in a matter of minutes. This pad is really thick! At the same time, even the Double Wide packs incredibly small and takes no space in your bag. I would recommend using a thin closed cell foam pad under it, if you want to increase the R value on really cold nights.

This pad is awesome. I upgraded from a Klymit that ive had for years and patched a few times. I wanted something with a little more cush. This is it. Only feels a bit heavier than the klymit. just a tad bigger when its packed. I tried the big agnes DIVIDE and the design isnt as comfy. I also got the Rapide wide version. The extra few incheds makes a big diference.

so comfortable!

This pad is very comfortable! I’m a side sleeper that tosses and turns a lot. But I slept as comfortably on this as I do at home. I wasn’t able to feel any cold from the ground, though it wasn’t particularly cold the night I used it (about 53 degrees). I loved that it takes up the entire tent floor of a 2-person tent which made it easy to move around freely. My dog was my tent mate and it seemed durable enough for her with her nails. The material was comfortable enough to sleep directly on in just my base layer, not to slippery or plastic feeling. And it didn’t seem too noisy either. The included air sack to a little practice, but I got the hang of it. It probably took about 20 sacks of air to fill it to my comfort level. I can’t speak to long term durability yet. ... MoreThis pad is very comfortable! I’m a side sleeper that tosses and turns a lot. But I slept as comfortably on this as I do at home.
