Bought my first one 3 years ago and it has been my favourite headlamp so far. It really stays nicely in place while running or snowshoeing. The profile is slim enough to wear while biking with a helmet. With the battery at the back it balances on my head very well and is very comfortable. The battery life is decent but you will notice it will dim over time to conserve energy. After three years of use (every other day as I would use it at night to read and around the house) the battery gave up charging. Unfortunately there is no way to replace just the battery and MEC does not even recycle the unit for you as you'll have to find an electronics recycler to do it for you. I thought it would last longer. Just bought my second knowing it will be reliable for the next ... MoreBought my first one 3 years ago and it has been my favourite headlamp so far. Positives: I've had my headlamp for about 5 months and used it weekly for trail running/hiking. It feels like I'm wearing nothing on my head, very comfortable. I love the bright orange color as it is easy to spot, especially in the dark. The various light modes are great when hiking, especially the flood light and red light when hiking with others (you don't blind your friends). The elastic band and tilt light are easy to adjust and stay in place well. I don't have any issues with the battery life as I charge it weekly. The longest I've gone with the head lamp on at various modes before it died was about 12 hours of use.Negative: The IPX4 rating boasts resistance to splashes of water and 90% of the time I do not hike when it is raining. On all occasions when it did begin raining (I can count them on my hand) I put on a raincoat and hood to cover my head (in turn covering the head lamp). I tried to turn it on today and it wouldn't turn on. It was fully charged as indicated by the 4 white dot lights on the battery. Upon closer inspection I can see very little but apparently enough corrosion in the lights itself. I suspect this is due to the high humidity and salinity in the air because of where I live. We have a joke that everything metal will rust here but I really didn't expect my head lamp to die in 5 months. I would not recommend this head lamp as the price is pretty steep for rather low durability.

The lumens are more than sufficient for any need I might have when walking my dog around the woods at night. The low is also all you need in a dark situation. I love not having to replace batteries. The battery pack in the back really balances the feel of it. Also I can wear it around my neck, with light clicked fully downward, & have some useful light without it shining in someone’s face. I love my old Black Diamond headlamp but the lumens & rechargeability of this combined with the better distribution of weight is such a satisfying nerd experience. The color is a good orange, a light orange, not neon or harsh. My only concern is that it is already showing marks of dirt, from me using it outside at night & turning it on & off with smudged fingers. I haven’t yet ... Still, it’s worth it for me, a scattered ADHD person to be able to scan for the orange color & quickly find it. I know black gear doesn’t show dirt but then how often do you lose track of it in a dim situation?

I was given the headlamp as a gift by my husband and I loved how comfortable it felt to wear as well as being rechargeable and super bright. Unfortunately that's where the pros end... the on/off switch is tiny and in an awkward spot, with a hard plastic nib sticking up right by it, you have to either have nails or press your finger into it pretty hard to get it to function. Nonetheless, I liked not having to buy batteries and it worked great... until it didn't. After using it about once a week/ every other week, for 5 months it started acting crazy. The lights that indicate the charge/ charging will be all lit up as fully charged when plugged in and the lamp works WHILE it's plugged in, but as soon as it comes off the charger the indicators turn off one by one and ... The lights that indicate the charge/ charging will be all lit up as fully charged when plugged in and the lamp works WHILE it's plugged in, but as soon as it comes off the charger the indicators turn off one by one and the lamp goes dark, within 2-3 minutes, tops, sometimes instantly. When it's plugged back, it again claims to to have a full charge. Soooo, either this headlamp is confused, drunk, is having a great laugh punking me or it's a piece of crap.Seeing I don't appear to be the only one with the same malfunctions and dragging a mile long extension cord from the back of my head is rather bothersome..I really can't recommend this light.
Separating the battery (back of the headband) from the light (front) makes for a much more comfortable and lower profile headlamp that doesn't bounce around or slide down like those where both the battery and lamp are contained in a front-only mount. Having just a single button cycling through all the functions takes a bit of getting used to. Bright and yet not a battery hog. Rechargeable so you don't have to have a stash of batteries, but unlike replaceable batteries when it runs down you can't just swap and go, you have to recharge. A good buy that fits my needs.
I have used the 330 headlamp for early morning runs for 2 years. It provides sufficient light and was comfortable enough the I often forget the I'm wearing it. While I really like, and recommend the product, that is not to say that it is without room for improvement.I always plugged it in overnight to ensure that it was charged for the run. Unfortunately, for the past year it became hit or miss on if it charged. This problem appeared to be with the cord. Luckily, I own other BioLite products and was able to use another cord to charge the 330.This past week the 330 stopped working. The light wouldn't come on even though it was charged. I just tried it again and it no longer works. In addition, If I could make one design suggestion: Design a headband that fits those of us who are smaller. Obviously, the band is going to stretch over time. However, the way it is currently designed, the back battery pack ended up near my ear by the end of the life of the headlamp.I am ordering another BioLite HeadLamp once I finish with this review, so obviously I like the product. It would be great if mine lasted longer, but when it did work, it was great!
Hey all! This is Mindy, Director of Industrial Design at BioLite. As outdoor recreationalists ourselves, we knew one big thing about headlamps which is that they're uncomfortable to wear. Looking around the campfire, we often noticed the red marks on our friends foreheads and headlamps hanging around everyone's neck. It was evidence of a glaring problem - that headlamps were a "wearable" product but were incredibly non-ergonomic. HeadLamp 330 seeks to address that problem by minimizing the size of the light module to be only 9 millimeters thick and ultra light, introducing a new to the world approach to headstraps called 3D SlimFit, and rebalancing the weight of the battery to the back of your head where it's much less noticeable. I bought this to replace another headlamp I had that was great but bounced when I ran. Looking around, I found this one with great reviews online and also that several of my friends run with. I got the nice blue colour on clearance, which was a nice bonus, and I've already worn it several times on evening runs! I love the different options with the light, it feels like it is stuck to my forehead and won't bounce or fall even when running. Perfect for me! The only drawback is that the battery is not replaceable but I have friends who have had theirs for several years so it gives me hope that this was a great purchase.
I bought this late in the fall 2022 and it lasted maybe 3-4 months. At first I was real impressed. It has a bright light and I was loving it. Then it just had a red light that won't turn off. Plus it no longer works as a "white" light either. I must say the customer service was outstanding!!! They tried to help me resolve the issue, but when it still wasn't resolved they sent me another one. I was very impressed! I give customer service a 5 star review! Unfortunately I have not even had my new one a month and it is not working either!! Not work $2 let alone the ridiculous price they are asking!!
I am a trail runner and bought this headlamp specifically for that purpose. What attracted me to it is it's form factor, the fact that its lightweight and well balanced, as well as very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. I used this headlamp for several trail runs without an issue but then all of a sudden the power button started malfunctioning. If I can press it at just the right angle with just the right amount of pressure it *might* turn on. IF I can get it to turn on it will then spontaneously turn off. I'm lucky to have found this out in the comfort of my own home rather than out on the trails, but it was a bummer to discover that I can no longer rely on it. A headlamp should be something you never have to worry about working properly and that you can depend on. It can be the difference between safely navigating a dark trail or injuring yourself (or worse!). I was really hopeful that this would be THE one, but I guess it's back to the drawing board. :(
