Amazing -- charges quite a few devices! It's a tad heavy, but I took this on a 5 day backpacking trip and never had to use my solar panel. It kept two iPhones charged (11 and 13) as well as my SpotX GSP tracker. Only lost 1 bar. A family member said they were able to charge their iPhone nearly 100% more than 5 times. Probably would leave the solar panel at home for future backpacking trips and just take this.

I took my new Biolite Charge 80 PD Fast USB-C PD Powerbank on a 5 day camping trip to the St. Regis Canoe Area in the Adirondacks this week. Specifically, I wanted to be able to charge my (relatively) new Oticon More hearing aids so I wouldn't miss the loon calls! Also, I had a new Garmin inReach Mini that I wanted to be sure stayed charged up, as well as an iPod, which I used to take photos. The Powerbank exceeded my expectations by charging the hearing aids and iPod every night reliably and hardly made a dent in its capacity. Plus, there's the added benefit of purchasing from a company whose values I support.

This is better and more convenient than I expected. It’s a little heavier than the one I had previous but well worth the carry lt’s like the old saying you get what you pay for. I’ve only had it a short time but the amount of charging I’m getting is so convenient you don’t have to be as stingy in what you’re doing it’s like having 2 of my old ones. It’s a great purchase all ready looking forward to the convenience and comfort knowing I have lots of backup on the hikes out on the Salmon rivers this coming spring I highly recommend it

Great for piece of mind and action to charge
10 September 2022

Received about two weeks ago and used it several times. Pro- Simple to use and clear indicators. Love that can charge multiple devices at once. I like the textured gray area so don't slide around. Used it along with my solar 10+ to charge and worked just fine. Con - I would suggest having a lip around the charging ports so they are reset just slightly to avoid water / impact when dropped, And or covers for the ports, I would want to take this back packing, but port protection would be very good to have. Also very slow to charge via USB C. Haven't timed it specifically, but was surprisingly slow. not a deal breaker, but have to plan for it.

Intermittently it won't charge
12 August 2022

I bought this battery in Australia and am now traveling through Europe. Every second or third charge it doesn't charge. But you only find out in the morning when your phone needs a charge and the battery has zero charge in it. I move it to different power points, my laptop and still it won't work. It also tales hour and hours to reach a full charge. I am forced to now buy another battery pack, because of the poor reliability. It won't be BioLite!

It Actually Works
23 May 2023

I've had "cheapy" battery packs before to try to keep my phone powered on camping trips and this Biolite Charge 80 PD is miles and away better! It actually holds the charge you put into it before you leave for your trip, I charged my phone almost from zero three times and it didn't seem to put a dent in the battery pack. It is a little heavy so wouldn't be perfect for lightweight backpacking trips but perfect for camping in general, or using at the crag if you're there all day and trying to get video. I love this!!

My Second Biolite Power Bank
1 September 2022

I also have the 20 Pd Power Bank. It was my first and I liked it so much I decided to get this one too. Both work like a charm. Both feel rugged and well made. The 20 Pd is perfect for my everyday carry emergency power needs. And both the 20 and 80 are compact relative to the power they hold. In fact, I thought the 80 would be a lot bigger than it is. I plan to use it when I travel and keep it fully charged at home in case of emergencies. I did a lot of research before settling on these. No regrets. Really happy with this purchase.

PRACTICAL...
15 December 2021

I will recommend this product because i love it so far. To this day, I bought two batteries 80 PD, 1 headlamp 330 and two headlamps 750, one solar panel +10I love the ideal of BIOLITE in general. My first experience with 80 PD BATTERY... i ran out of hydro for about 20 hours 3 days ago and with my Charge 80 PD i got to charge my phone twice and my 730 headlamp from Biolite too plus my ear buds and still had 3 bars of energy left... i think i could have made it for a couple of days so, very practical when you go camping or no hydro.Only thing missing directly on the battery is a very efficient solar panel. (But might have restrictions i am not aware Off). You can buy one separately (i did), but this is a different product so... i will go review it when i try it ... MoreI will recommend this product because i love it so far. I‘ve got the 20 and the 80 version. Loading my iPhone13 with 1,4A by USB and 1.8A by USB C. Capacity like in the manufactors description. Charge 20 for 1 to 1.5 times and Charge 80 for several loadings. Design and quality of the battery is quite well. The Charge 20 is a lightweight for the pocket, Charge 80 more heavier powercharge for seversl days. Best battery I own an absolutely recommended if you need powersupply!

Temperamental

I've had some issues. I only have a half-dozen devices I'd like this to charge, even less when I'm camping (which is what I specifically bought it for). It has a "feature" which causes it to stop charging when it senses the device is full. Unfortunately, what this seems to mean is that if a device doesn't have sufficient draw (like a small LED lamp), the charger doesn't seem to sense it, so it won't charge. Probably the same feature causes a quirk where I find it will only charge if I plug the cable into my device FIRST, then the Biolite charger. If I plug the cable into this charger first, then my device, it won't charge. Probably because it doesn't immediately sense a charge, so it shuts down. When I try to charge my Iphone, I need to check on it every 10 minutes ... MoreI've had some issues. Often it has for some reason stopped...So far, it won't charge my small laptop. My laptop says "slow charging source" or something, and refuses to take any charge at all from it.So...I don't know. I can more or less make it work for about 50% of my intended uses. I'm going to keep it, but its quirks annoy me.
