This is absolutely gorgeous! It has a delicious fragrant, nutty flavour and perfect texture ? it stays ?al dente? and does not clump together in a stodgy soggy mass. The flavour and texture are exquisite. It also makes beautiful risotto if you cook it for longer. Plus, it is organic, nutritious and Italian, not from the other side of the world. I received this free from Ocado to review. We often eat rice but it's usually white so I was interested to see how this compared with brown rice that we've tried in the past. This was easy to cook following the packet instructions and the small grains cooked well. It was light to eat and had a lovely nutty taste. Would have this again.

I am reviewing this product as I was sent a free sample from Ocado. It cooked perfectly as per the packet instructions - 25 mins although 20 mins would probably be fine. I then used it for a prawn egg-fried rice and it tasted healthy and delicious with a slightly nutty flavour and firm bite. Will buy again as an alternative to the white basmati I normally use.

I am reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. I used the rice cooker which took longer than with my usual rice. The result was a nutty rice with a great chewy texture. The flavour was slightly more savoury than our usual brand and I preferred this one. Will buy again and would highly recommend. Another plus, plastic free packaging.
This is so much more flavourful than white rice and healthier too, with more fibre and texture to it. It goes without saying that it requires a longer cooking time. Works well in rice porridge (cooked in plant based coconut drink) for those intolerant to gluten in oats. The packaging, although more environmentally friendly than most, makes little sense as it seems to tear very easily, leaving a trail of rice everywhere.
The rice tastes rich and nutty, I love it, but the new paper packaging with this thin window at the front that is damaged within little time by anything pointed, although material wise more ecologic, is a waste of rice tickling out through the damaged package. The plastic packaging was 100% insect safe and kept the rice fresh. The paper packaging isn't. I really love this rice and will keep buying it, but I have to instantly refill it into a securely closed plastic box, because the packaging is too easily damaged. I don't know how many other customers are willing to do so and are taking the risk of having rice tickling into their shopping back or cupboard. Wastage of food is also an ecologic point of view, not just the avoidance of plastic packaging. I was sent this by Ocado to review. I am a fan of Biona products anyway. This is great quality. Great to find an organic rice. We enjoyed this in a risotto. It worked perfectly. Definitely would buy again.
Having received this as a free item to review - I cooked this to go with a homemade curry (don't judge me!) Usually, brown rice doesn't go down so well with the husband - I don't mind it too much - BUT this is not your usual brown rice! Short, fat and full of pleasant flavour - this was absolutely delightful! He finished all of it - which has never been done before when brown rice is presented! So that says it all for me. It is soft, unlike some brown rice - cooks beautifully and I am ordering more already!
I?m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. We found this rice cooked really nicely as it didn't stick together or go gloopy as white rice tends to. It has a nutty flavour and has a bit of bite to it, although for a softer finish it can be soaked overnight or cooked longer than the pack recommends. The cooking time was a lot longer than we expected which loses it a star as it wouldn't be convenient for us on a weeknight but it's great value for authentic organic good quality rice.
Great texture (it doesn't stick together, as well as good mouth-feel) and taste, excellent plastic-free packaging, good packet size. The only downside is the cooking time on the packet is longer (40-45 minutes) than I'd prefer, but I find it cooks quicker than that anyway (25 minutes from boiling? I haven't quite worked it out yet). This is now our usual rice.
