Purchased to wear around water on a cruise & was concerned re stiff strap. I’ve worn around the house and it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Sandal is very lightweight in contrast to a traditional Birk and footbed seems soft enough for comfort w needed arch support. As the years have progressed, I need the softbed Birk for comfort, so I’m hopeful for these. Nordstrom was prompt sending the order.

After some research into how to reduce my plantar fasciitis, including speaking to my podiatrist father, wearing insoles in my hiking shoes, and stretching my feet before and after exercise, I decided to try wearing sandals indoors. I've always been a bit of a no-shoes-inside kind of person, perhaps why the plantar fasciitis developed to begin with, but I wanted sandals just for schlepping about indoors that supported my insteps and heels. It was either these Birks or Oofos and I went with these as I've worn the original more rugged Birkenstocks for years and like their comfort and sturdiness and have a strong preference for their look over Oofos. This pair of Birks is still going strong after a few months of wearing only indoors and my plantar fasciitis has ... MoreAfter some research into how to reduce my plantar fasciitis, including speaking to my podiatrist father, wearing insoles in my hiking shoes, and stretching my feet before and after exercise, I decided to try wearing sandals indoors. I can’t rave enough about this Birks Arizona waterproof sandals. I recently wore this to a 3-day vacay in Niagara Falls Canada. We walked at least 11k steps in a day and I did not get a single blister or callus. It is mad comfy. I have wide feet with high arch. My shoes are typically 5.5 (yes I have small feet) so i ordered 5-5.5 and it fits great. I wore these badboys to the Hornblower boat ride (Canadian version of Maid of the mist), and it was perfect for it since it was waterproof. It was not slippery either because of the ridges at the bottom of the shoes. It dried on its own as we strolled around and did more activities. I know it is pricey for a waterproof sandal but it is worth it so stop debating and buy these!! I plan to buy another one when my current one ... MoreI can’t rave enough about this Birks Arizona waterproof sandals. I recently wore this to a 3-day vacay in Niagara Falls Canada. I literally just picked these up in Overland Park, KS with curbside pickup on a road trip. Bought a 38 and a 39 in Surf Green and kept my usual size of 39. I had ordered down a size based on reviews and at first I thought they were right til I stood up and realized the 39 fit better. I love the light color and comfy footbed without any need to break in. Color is as pictured. So happy they had these in the store and it was easy to return the size that didn’t fit. Super nice staff! As always, super happy with Nordstrom!
I bought these because I wanted an affordable way to try out Birkenstocks but I also loved the monochrome black look of these more than the original.I ordered my normal size. I found it to be true to size but I did have to tighten the straps quite a bit. I consider myself to have average width feet and this is supposed to be the narrow width but I still found it quite wide. However, the sizing was not an issue for me because the straps are adjustable and I think if I were to go down a size, it would have been too small length wise for my foot.My major complaint about these shoes is that they just make too much noise. When your feet are dry, they'll occasionally make a farting noise. If your feet are wet, the shoes will squeak with literally every step you take. ... MoreI bought these because I wanted an affordable way to try out Birkenstocks but I also loved the monochrome black look of these more than the original.I ordered my normal size. It made me quite self conscious and I don't think I'll be using these as much as I intended. In terms of comfort, I wasn't too impressed. Heard great things about Birkenstocks and maybe I just need to get used to the foot bed but I actually thought it hurt my feet, especially because I wasn't walking comfortably because I was trying to minimize the sound of the squeaking! Also I don't think they're that flattering when worn, the top of the sandals has an irregular shape.
I've been searching for a lighter-weight alternative to the Croc sandals that have faithfully served me formany years. I stumbled upon these Birkenstocks at REI. Although I went to college during the cultural revolutionof the 1970s, I'm not a Birkenstock kind of guy. Despite this, I went ahead and purchased them anyway. I ordereda size medium in brown. I was pleasantly surprised that a pair of medium Birkenstocks weigh in at 8.8 ounces(249 g) on my scale versus 13.8 ounces (390 g) for my Crocs; almost a 40% weight difference. The Birkenstocksweight compares favorably to some sandals describing themselves as ultralight but which are heavier or lessrobust in their construction than the Birkenstocks. Now, to be totally "open kimono" in this review, the material ... MoreI've been searching for a lighter-weight alternative to the Croc sandals that have faithfully served me formany years. The Birkenstocksweight compares favorably to some sandals describing themselves as ultralight but which are heavier or lessrobust in their construction than the Birkenstocks. Now, to be totally "open kimono" in this review, the material usedin the construction of the Birkenstocks is harder and more rigid than that used in the manufacture of my Crocsand I find them to be slightly less comfortable. With that said, however, I can go with a little less comfort in exchangefor a 40% reduction in weight. Now all I need to compliment my Birkenstocks is a nice tie-dyed hoodie, a fewGrateful Dead tunes, and a hand full of granola bars.
At first they seem a bit on the flimsy side and for light duty. They're light in weight as if constructed from some vegetable extract plastic like material. However once I put them on I Ioved the customary arch support. My feet find themselves enveloped in the seemingly appropriate, comfortable, molded convex shape. They feel great to put on and walk around. I'm using them mostly for inside my house. I'm not sure how well they would survive as an outside, heavy duty use sandal. Mostly for the beach. the pool etc IMHO
I thought these sandals were so cute! However, I had to return because I was right between the size 5.5 and 6 women's. I have the original clogs, and I am a true size 6, but for some reason, the sandals fit a little different. The small 5.5-6 size fit JUST RIGHT, where there wasn't a lot of wriggle room. While the 6-6.5 size were too big there was too much wriggle room. I couldn't decide, so I just ended up returning :(
I have a white pair of these I bought last year. They are some of my most favorite summer sandals. They fit perfectly in a 36 (I’m normally a 6 in sandals but these seemed to run a little large). So I ordered a black pair for this year. The shoes are completely different now. Much smaller overall, shorter and narrower. Unwearable and I’m so sad I will have to return. Maybe a wide width would help but looks like those are not available.
I ordered a half size down , 7.5/7, rather than my usual size of 8 in shoes. I thought they were a little small but after a day or so I realized they were perfect. I don’t like the look of a gap between my heel and the sandal bed, maybe I’m neurotic. They fit perfectly, there was a brief break in period where the joint of my right big toe was rubbing weird but that was over fast. I use these as house shoes since my floors are hard time. They also work great as pool shoes.
