I've always wanted these, but the taupe were super popular in the 90's. Idk why these were a bit tight, but I ordered the Arizona's in taupe-in the exact same size, and they are a little bit big. Weird. Back in the day, Birks were always true to size, but this generation- they decided to add half sizes & it kinda threw me off. I've always worn a 37. My US size ranges from a 6.5-7.5. If I would've purchased these from a local store, I'd have gone up a size (bc of socks in winter/they DO stretch after a while) OR exchanged them for a larger size. These Birkenstocks are so comfortable, and get more comfortable with wear. The brown is a nice chocolate brown. I wanted taupe, but didn’t want dirt show! I already have black ones and just wanted another color. I haven’t worn these yet, because I May return them, only because I just don’t need more shoes! I do know these last for a very long time. If you are new to Birkenstocks keep in mind you need to break them in until they mold to your foot.

Back in the day (10 years ago) you had to break these bad boys in before they were comfortable to wear. Super surprised when I bought a pair this year and they were immediately comfy. They did change the design of the shoe on the inside where your toes are at which I noticed right away. I thought I wouldn't like how that felt on my toes, but my feet made a quick adjustment after a couple wears and its not a concern anymore.I am a 9.5 in womens sneakers and a 10 in heels. I purchased a size 10 (a 41 in European measurements), which is an exact fit. Buy them! So stylish and can be worn with anything. I love my birkies!

The “new” soft footbed Birks are not very soft compared to the ones I bought about a dozen years ago. Here is a picture side by side, although you will not be able to determine softness from a photo. The footbed is taller, thicker than previous designs. I can still push down on the footbed of my older shoes and the cushion is about a quarter of an inch. The new version has almost no give, maybe a millimeter or two. They still fit well and will conform to my feet but the cushioning is virtually nonexistent and barely more than another pair I have without the “soft footbed”

The leather is far more structured. It isn’t floppy, it stays open and is truly slip in and out ready. The fit seems slightly tighter too and I can go down to the 2nd hole when wearing a thin sock. While the leather will eventually stretch too, I’m confident that it will take longer and be much less significant than the suede. I’d also bet money that the oil leather will look far better a year from now than the taupe suede. (Out of the box, the look of the suede wins but I’m interested in longevity.)Both materials have the amazing Birkenstock footbed that are truly heaven on my sore, almost flat, aging feet. The soft footbed is comfortable out of the box but I’ll probably seek the original footbed for my next pair as I think the original will be better over time as well.I would love to see Nordstrom get more leather options for women in the future as I’m already wanting more colors. Sorry I have to return the suede.
Headline says it all. Third time wearing them, the button on the side snapped completely off. I reattached them, and they broke again. This happened with normal walking around in my classroom. Wasn’t doing anything crazy. I should be able to walk without shoes breaking within two weeks of having them. Luckily I’m still within the return window so these will be going back, and I will continue my search for comfortable shoes to wear to work smh.
