I bought these as a requested Christmas present for my granddaughter. Bloomingdales had them available to ship around December 22 as they were out of stock. I had no expectation to receive them before Christmas but, to my surprise, I received them last week! I’m anxious to give them to my granddaughter. They are exactly what she wants and are classic. Comfort and classic. Wear with everything. Personally I think they run big. I'm a 7.5 in nearly everything. 38 was the recommended size. Foot was swimming in it. Sized down to 37, perfection. No my heel is not on the edge. I see people wearing their birds too small, with the heel hanging over the heel cup. It's not a good look.

I have chronic plantar fasciitis, which unfortunately lets me know pretty quickly which shoes are going to work for me. I've got theories, but it doesn't really matter why -- Birkenstocks are the one brand that reliably never give me ANY foot pain. I wear the Arizona's all summer, but this year I decided to get the clogs so I could extend my "sandal season" into the fall/winter a bit more. Any worries I had vanished instantly -- the clogs are comfortable and durable -- I'm not gonna lie, I've been wearing them all winter.Bonus points for REI - I bought them one day, and decided to exchange sizes the next. I was afraid these were gonna be narrow cause on the site it did not specify. The shoes fit perfectly, and width was regular which is perfect for people with a wider foot. Backcountry is great!! Their customer service is great never had any issues with this company. Will be buying again from them in the near future. They also have competitive pricing which made buy from them in the first place.
The “new” soft footbed Birks are not very soft compared to the ones I bought about a dozen years ago. Here is a picture side by side, although you will not be able to determine softness from a photo. The footbed is taller, thicker than previous designs. I can still push down on the footbed of my older shoes and the cushion is about a quarter of an inch. The new version has almost no give, maybe a millimeter or two. They still fit well and will conform to my feet but the cushioning is virtually nonexistent and barely more than another pair I have without the “soft footbed”
The reason I said over priced is because I received my Clogs in the Stone Coin Wood color, they had a SALE PRICE TAG underneath the shoe REDUCED SAVE 30% now $108.50. I paid $155.00 + tax. I returned them because of the sale price. I would have keep them although they run smaller than my Taupe Suede ones. I think it is because of the wool material., no give. They are nicethe wool grey is pretty. My foot width is narrow.

I actually bought these in a size 6 and 7 in Taupe to see which ones fit better. For Birkenstocks you do not want them to be loose, they have to fit your foot exactly or else the shoes will slide and take longer to wear them in. In those style, the 6 was a better fit. The are very comfortable, the cork is softer on these than original Birkenstocks. Even though the shoes says narrow, I did not find them to be narrow (I do not have narrow feet). These fit M/W (there was actually some gaps on the sides when I wear them, not tight). I wear them for hours without any arches or rubbing. I know the trend is taupe, but get them in any colors, these are comfort shoes. I have worn Birkenstocks for over 25 years, and have 6 pairs at any given time
