Was a better product when it was Australian owned. The old packaging which has recently changed stated 100% Australian owned and made. The new packaging states 100% Australian made. As I haven't seen the new packs I don't know if there is any imported product. Formula has changed which is a shame and the quality not quite as good. I can no longer feed to my dog as he reacts to salmon (oil in this product). He has inflammatory bowel disease and this food was great for him before. No longer available as a 20kg product and the size has been reduced to 15kg without a price reduction.Still a good product though compared to similar priced brands.

As a vet nurse, I want my dogs to be in the best possible health. So I was keen to resolve my Staffy's ongoing skins issues that had already contributed to one surgery. When the vet recommended Ivory Coat Grain Free dry food, I was looking forward to trying it and it has surpassed my expectations. Not only is my dogs skin much better, but the lesions I was expecting to have surgically removed have disappeared. He looks healthier, and is not scratching all the time anymore. AND I can get it delivered to my door for free. I'm hooked!

Originally both my Border Collies had Black Hawk normal, but of recent one of them showed signs of allergic skin redness around the mouth and muzzle and formed ulcers in the mouth. A Vet gave antibiotics but with little results. I did a removal of all foods given and found in the end that the Black Hawk dry food was causing the most problem. That is why she has now been given the No additives and preservatives grain free dry food and the other is fine. The only problem for me is the cost of 2 separate bags when I was getting 1 bag for the both of them. Still can't really fathom why after 4 years there is a problem with the Dry food unless the ingredients has been changed,and not for the better.

Fussy Husky Approved

Black Hawk was recommended to me by the breeder, but I was skeptical to keep it due to the price. I've tried the ones with rice as well as other cheaper brands but my dog ate more and still lost weight as the fillers weren't giving her enough nutrition.Went back to Black Hawk and gave the Grain Free ones a try. Being a fussy husky, she will only eat Salmon/Chicken/Lamb if they are all mixed together so it ends up being quite costly, but she looks forward to each meal and boy it gives her a healthy report from the vets. Good eyes, teeth, coat and energy. I won't ever change now.

Great value for grain free dog food

At some point last year, my fur babe doesn’t like the lamb flavoured any more. So I changed to this one and since then he has been loving it. He must enjoy grain free dog food I guess.

My dogs love it

I have one dog that had digestion issues….runny bum….and I used Nutro grain free for years which worked for him……and when that was no longer available the Black Hawk grain free chicken was suggested. I was a little apprehensive at first….but it has worked out well….nice shiny coats with the Omega oils……..and my younger dog had started losing weight about 6 months ago……but put it back on within a couple of weeks of using this. I am happy to recommend it.

Not suitable for our Kelpie

Purchased 15kg bag based on reviews, advertising and our 19 month old male Kelpie doing very on similar products from meals for mutts. Persevered over 4 months introducing the new product. Although the dog ate all the biscuits offered, the result was very soft (almost runny) and more smelly stools. Problems solved with switch back to meals for mutts. Unfortunately, time to accept my mistake (in not buying a smaller bag to test) and give up on the product. It just doesn't suit our dog.

Perfect for our collie

We have had our petite border collie on grain free Blackhawk for about 2 months now and noticed amazing improvements. Fully grown she is very mini (dropped to about 9kg) we were struggling to keep her weight on with a raw food diet and an extreme high energy lifestyle. As soon as we got her on Blackhawk her weight packed on and her coat is so glossy! It has been a life saver - the grain free option has helped stop flatulence too (thank goodness!)
