Nice and rich color. Doesn't dull when it dries. I really like this ink
I swatched this ink with a broad nib fountain pen, a brush, and a dip pen on both a Rhodia dot pad and some card stock. The card stock swatch was luscious and laid down with no bubbles or weirdness. A beautiful black. I let it dry completely and then water tested one swipe of a wet 1/4" flat watercolor brush across the swatch and writing. It is water resistant, but not waterproof. Just a slight smear of black with the water. It is As water resistant as Lamy or DeArtemis document fountain pen ink but with richer black tones.
My go-to fountain pen ink. Not waterproof, but stays put on the page, flows really well in pens, and is a very economical price.This ink very middle of the road, so not too purplish or bluish. Not as dark as the most black fountain pen inks, but still solid. If you like your inks fancy, look elsewhere since this is a simple, plain matte black ink.The bottle is plastic, compact, and has a secure cap and a narrow spout so it's easy to carry around or use to fill up smaller containers like a plastic vial.I hope the this product stays the way it is. The combination of the price, performance, bottle design and 30ml size makes it a great buy.
Good, quality ink for a fountain pen. No complaints about that. I'd love to see it in blue. My biggest issue is Blick's website - I could not figure out how to order for pickup, so I got a huge, nearly empty box by UPS with a tiny ink bottle in it. Seemed so wasteful. I would gladly pick up next time... Otherwise, great work!
The reason I gave it an average rating is that it smears when you try and paint over it. Not good for line and wash technique!
I use this for ink and brush sketching, and dip pens. It is nice and black, but I don't need to worry about cleaning the brush right away, as it is not waterproof and shellacky. Can make nice neutral grey washes. Great with dip pens because it flows well. If you put a water wash on a drawing soon after, the ink will bleed - can add tone to drawings this way. But if you want totally waterproof ink to add color over, you should probably choose something else. The bottle is light and has a secure seal, so it's great for carrying in the field.
Good price for the quality. Dries quickly, which helps to decrease any smudging with writing. Easy to clean off fountain pen once filled.
