That's exactly what you get with the ATEM Mini Pro.We used it as a live stream switcher for an event - two cameras and one laptop - and we were absolutely amazed at how well it worked for what we did. Once we had it hooked up to stream out, we were able to run the stream just by hooking into the house network, no other hardware needed.Except... when we needed to luma key some titles. We realized we couldn't switch them on without using the laptop. Nor could we adjust the audio gains. And the keying would lose its settings when we turned it on and off. And the framerate would jump around. And...It works. It's great for the money. This is being used in an upgrade to our church's zoom based Sunday services, currently driven by a single professional camera and one Mac. The Mini will be hooked to 3 Sony PTC cameras and camera controller. BUT, it's true power is magnified by the downloadable software. With an attached computer a whole host of additional features, including remote operation, can increase its value. Whether you plan on 4, 8 or more, Blackmagic has reliable professional products to cover every need. The offerings of these simpler affordable part of their line are perfect to bring the amateur into the ranks of the professional.

I was excited to have a switching box with a built-in encoder, allowing me to bypass OBS.Unfortunately, this unit still needs some work.The good - Like the original ATEM Mini, there's a lot of power in a small package here. You get scalers on every input, a similar media player to the TVSHD, upstream and downstream keyers, plus extra audio inputs, remote camera controls, audio mixing with effects, and a bunch of other useful tools. The output selection buttons are a HUGE improvement over the original, allowing you to monitor any input, the program output, or Blackmagic's custom multiview, all by just pressing a simple button on the unit. The multiview is one of the best I've used and is completely customizable via the free software. Additionally, the ability to record straight out of the unit to an external SSD is great... that is, when you're either not streaming, or when you have sufficient signal to stream directly from the box.That's where we get to the not-so-good. Blackmagic provides three options for stream quality, all of which are 1080p/60 or 1080p/30, at anywhere from 3,500-10,000 Kbps. In practice, this means that if your WiFi connection is unstable, or if you are in a location where the internet signal dips occasionally, the unit begins to cache the feed (where a software encoder would begin dropping frames). You don't realize it's happening until the unit begins to flash that it's caching and the memory is roughly 40% full. Blackmagic doesn't give the specs on how much flash memory is built-in, but I can assume it's not much, as it goes from 40% to 100% in just a few minutes. Once the cache is full, the unit ceases to stream and the buttons become unresponsive. In the short time I've owned it, I've had two streams completely drop due to inadequate signal and had to change the cabling, connecting the USB-C cable and launching OBS as I would have with the original ATEM Mini. If you're trying to record the stream, you now have to do that via OBS, as the USB-C port is the only way to feed the video signal into the computer.Several on the BMD forums have discussed editing the XML file to create a custom stream setting, but so far I haven't been able to get anything working to consistently stream directly from the box. Until they get this worked out, assume that you'll still be using OBS (or similar) anytime you're on a less than stellar internet signal.If you already have an original ATEM Mini, I'd wait for BMD to work out the kinks before upgrading to the new box. If you absolutely need multiview or are working in an environment where you have consistently fantastic upstream internet signal, then this would be a great box.
