Confusion reigns

Well this one was quite a puzzle for me and the dog as we couldn't figure it out at all. There seems to be No Instructions and no beginning and no end to the mass of black stuff that did not seem to fit in any which way at all so I gave up. I ended up using a piece of green shade cloth which was clipped on with a couple of bulldog clips and a piece of string to keep the wind or sun out as required. Simply could find no way to work out how the "Black Room" was supposed to come together so I ended up ditching it.

Didn't fit

Seems like a really good product and well made. Unfortunately doesn't fit our Blackwolf Turbo 240 as ours has a two pole awning and this is made for a three pole awning. Didn’t realise Blackwolf made both types of tent. So looks like a waste of money unless I can get a refund.

Excellent for bugs

We have been using the screen room for a while now and have no issues with it. No problem setting it up and there is a hook to hang a lantern, so I don't understand the previous reviews. It obviously gets wet in hard rain, so a side panel or two won't hurt.

Good for stopping insects. Does not properly fit tent
19 December 2018

The extra insect resistant room was great where there were lots of flies or mozzies. Worked as a food prep or sleeping area. Definitely gets wet in rain, but a solid wall added would fix that. The biggest issue we had was fit. It does not look as neat as the picture! We had to lower the awning poles to get the floor on the ground and it curved up at the back as you can't lower the tent. Still did the job, but would be better if it fit properly.

Great Addition!
5 January 2016

Needed to create a mozzie proof space for sitting/cooking etc. Easy to attach to existing awning set up and should prove to do what we want it to - only set up but not used while camping as yet. Only one small 'issue' - when set up under the awning, it takes away ability to use any of the awning poles to hang/attach lights etc. Small quibble and easily got around - just didn't think of this prior to purchase.

Great additional space but an awkward set up
2 February 2018

I purchased the screen room to have a bug free environment for the kids at night if required. The tent is huge and the screen room was a fantastic addition for shoes and pantry etc. No instructions but easy to work out how it fitted onto the tent however, it is separate to the tent and there is a significant gap between the tent and the screen room. It didn't tension correction making zipping up the doors a two handed operation every time as they were slack. We couldn't get it to lay flat so one end was off the ground. If you wanted to keep both the tent and screen room bug free that would mean zipping up at least 3 doors due to the gap between the tent and it. The door(s) are in the front of the screen room not on the sides. It was a good addition as a place to store stuff in, not too sure about making a bug free space though as we ended up leaving the inner door open and for half of the time, the outer door also due to the slackness of the wall. I can't fault Snowys for their service. I've used online ordering from them several times now, I've always got what I ordered and their products arrive from interstate quicker than I can get a letter from just up the road. They've even been known to phone me if they didn't have exactly what I had ordered. In this day and age I call that service and really appreciate it.

Great concept but could be better designed
13 March 2019

This screened awning is a great concept but is more like something offered by a generic manufacturer than the OEM. It does its job well of providing an independent screened room that sits out front but it could have been designed better in several ways: If the rear of the screened room connected to the tent via a zip or velcro system, it would reduce the need to open or close a minimum of 3 zip doors (4 if you include the tent canvas door) to enter and exit the tent from outside or risk letting the bugs inside; The walls are shorter than the awning it attaches to, meaning that the floor pan is drawn up around all the edges. The floor pan is quite a light weight material and slides around when not anchored. We ended up using the picnic table and esky to pin it down; ... MoreThis screened awning is a great concept but is more like something offered by a generic manufacturer than the OEM. This is fine until it rains heavily and you end up with a swimming pool you need to wade through to enter and exit the tent. A shade cloth styled floor would be much more practical, and would also let the sand escape. To sum it up, it is worth having but could be so much better.

More product info required online

We purchased the Turbo lite 450, impressed with the internal space and accessory options. We prefer lots of light inside a tent, and protection from bugs and wildlife, so were delighted with the screen room accessory. As we couldn't see anything online here about the internal setup, we assumed it functioned like the solid panels, being velcro attached and an open floor. There were no instructions in the bag, so it took us a bit of time to work out how it attached to the existing tent. It was frustrating to discover it was like a separate capsule, with own roof and doors facing the tent. This meant airflow to the tent was compromised, as it was a double screen door. It also doesn't make use of the velcro, instead clipping and anchoring to the tent poles. This also ... MoreWe purchased the Turbo lite 450, impressed with the internal space and accessory options. It was frustrating to discover it was like a separate capsule, with own roof and doors facing the tent. This meant airflow to the tent was compromised, as it was a double screen door. It also doesn't make use of the velcro, instead clipping and anchoring to the tent poles. This also meant a bug/wildlife access was possible between the tent and the screen room, unless you were prepared to zip up both sets of doors! The floor of the screen room also had high door openings and a very thin fabric, which was very slippery onto of a ground sheet. It required us to place rubber mats on top of the floor. It also took a lot of adjustments to get the tensioning right for the screen room to sit right between poles and pegs. The thin (solid) floor did not provide enough weight to enable easy zipping of the front access doors. For future weather protection, you would need to purchase the solid side walls to keep to rain out. If the rain came in, water would be trapped on the floor. This screen room would be so much better/safer/easier with no floor, and a velcro attachment to the tent fly.

Would get 5 stars if it came with instructions
28 January 2018

By the second day I think I had worked out how to use this. Instructions would have been appreciated. It clips to the centre awning pole and the side tent poles - this tricked me as I clipped it to the top tent poles to start with. There are loops to put the centre awning pole through. If your tent is already up, you will need to lift the awning off the poles to add the screen tent to the top of the awning poles. I found this easy enough to do, one pole at a time. The screen room was for us to sleep in on a hot night. It filled this job perfectly. Unfortunately it then rained and we retreated into the tent, abandoning the screen room to see how much rain would come in through the sides. The answer was - too much! Next time it rains I will need to either unclip the screen room or put up the side walls. I kind of wish the floor of the screen room was made of the same fabric as the ground sheet, so that dirt and water inside it would not be an issue. It is a pain to have to go through three doors to get into the tent - so when we didn’t need to screen room, I unclipped part of it and reclipped it bunched up at the front of the awning. Ugly but effective. Also only possible because I did not peg the corners closest to the tent - user error that worked out this time.Overall quite happy with how this screen room worked for us on its first use.
