Selling a used Blue Spark microphone that comes with the shockmount and booklet manual. The mic has some light signs of use, as well as slight marks on the shockmount, please refer to the pictures. The wire bands on the shockmount have been changed out. The plastic for the "Focus" mode button on the back of the mic is missing, but the function can still be turned on and off by using your finger or a pencil to hit the switch (also pictured). The microphone works 100% perfectly as it should.

I bought this as a broken microphone, but all that was wrong was the headbasket mesh came off. It looks like their superglue failed, I can easily apply my own. Other that that it works perfectly.Did a quick test recording (with the headbasket taped back on), and was pleasantly surprised with how it recorded my Gibson Songwriter Studio acoustic guitar. I usually use either a JZ/Violet VIN26 or a Neumann TLM102 depending on the song. The Spark was in the ballpark, and if I didn't have those other two (and more expensive) mics I'd probably go to the Spark every time. It's missing some of the detail of those other mics. It's a great deal at retail price, my "broken" one was even less. Glad I took the chance.

I bought this mic to upgrade from a few MXLs that I have. Very sturdy mic, looks cool, and sounds amazing. I didn't know what to expect (ok, it's Blue Mics, I expected nothing short of great) and wasn't let down. This is a pro mic for little change. And it works for everything - So far, I've recorded female and male vocals, in multiple styles, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, trumpet, saxophone, even some light auxiliary percussion. Compared to my collection of MXL mics, there is no comparison. The Spark is a breath of fresh, clean air! I don't have to spend time eq-ing my mic out of the mix as I did in the past. If you're on the fence about this mic, get it! It's worth every penny, in my opinion!

I just bought the blue spark mic last week. I have been recording with different Neumann mics (U87-TLM 103) for more than 20 years. The Spark is amazing! The sound quality is great. The sound is different compared to Neumann. A little bit brighter. Now I can alternate between two different sound textures . I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS microphone!

While I don't have experience with a bunch of higher end mics, I can say the Spark is much better than most of the other budget priced condensers I've tried. It has a nice clear and clean sound. To my ear has no sharp bumps in any frequency range, which is a complaint I had with a previous condenser in the same price range I owned. The Spark is built like a tank and I love the gold color!!The "Focus" button is hard to distinguish a difference at first, but I can see it being useful for certain instruments and recording situations. I recommend reading Blue's tech info. about what it really does to understand it correctly. It is great at rejecting sound from the rear. I'm in a small room with a computer that makes too much noise. If I have the mic about 6 ft. away and facing away from the computer it is very quiet. Big plus!Comes with a nice Blue dual 22 awg. cable, shock mount and pop filter. I see reviewers complain about the shock mount and pop filter not being that great. I think they're fine for "free". You just have to put a little muscle into the shock mount tightening screw. I never expected the pop filter to do the same job a full separate filter can. What I like is the design aspect. It's part of the mic so it's there all the time for most jobs and if more is needed than a full separate one can be used.It also has an informative manual and solid carrying case. I see some say that's is solid wood. It's not, just laminated MDF of some sort. It's still nice quality and strong. I also like the company itself. Seems like they have as much concern for those buying their budget mics as they do for the very expensive ones.
I do lots of bedroom recording, and for over a year my only condenser microphone was an MXL 990. I used it to record many sources including vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, saxophone, clarinet, and percussion. It got the job done but consistently produced a sort of stale, tinny sound, which led me to start looking for a new condenser once I had the money to buy one.I researched most of the condenser microphones on this site in the price range; I read all of the reviews, I listened to any sound clips I could find on youtube or elsewhere, and based on the overwhelmingly positive response from Spark owners, I chose the Blue Spark. After doing a few side-by-side recordings to compare with my MXL 990, it was immediately clear that the Spark was a great ... MoreI do lots of bedroom recording, and for over a year my only condenser microphone was an MXL 990. "Buttery" is probably the best way I can think to describe its sound. The focus control on the back is a great little feature. I can go straight from recording acoustic guitar with the control disabled to recording vocals with the control enabled instead of having to constantly readjust EQ on my mixer. The Spark comes in a cool wooden box. The metal shock mount is high quality. I still use another pop filter in front of the small Blue one, as the Blue pop filter doesn't completely do away with plosives. This microphone is acutely sensitive to different positionings. It takes some time to get used to where to place it in relation to any sound source, but once you find a good spot the mic performs wonderfully. Highly recommended for bedroom studio musicians on a budget.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. It's a fun looking mic that works well for almost any occasion. I've left it out on my stand to make it quick and easy to use. The pop screen actually, even though small and close to the head, works well for my needs. I haven't had any 'plosives happen in any recordings yet. This bundle is a great deal!Nice mic. My previous experience with Condenser mics, unfortunately, was only in the studio I worked in 1993-95. They had incredible mics, like Neumann U87s! They spoiled me.This mic does not offer all the extra switches for pad, db and shape. It has a "focus" control. I have yet to use it and find out what it does yet. But this is a "beginner" and low price condenser mic, so you should expect it to be simple and straightforward, which I believe it is.This mic sounds really good for it's price point. It's not the warmest sounding mic I've ever used but I can fix that with EQ. Flat mics are actually a very good thing, don't be fooled by others saying different. The old Neumanns sound so good because they are very much analog/tube technology. Of course they are going to be warmer because of that! You should not expect ANY modern "digital" mic to sound like that. But all in all, I think this Spark has a nice balanced and even tone, easily workable to male, female voices AND instruments of all kinds.I mic'd up a couple of girls and myself so far, sounded good. I also mic'd a drum kit (overhead) as well as a Djembe at the rim (with an SM57 mixed on both accounts) to very good responses.BTW, it's built very sturdy. Blue makes very well made mics. No worries there! The shock mount was crap and kept sagging but they replaced it in less than a week with a new one that works perfectly, just call them! They didn't even make me send the old one back!I'd say it's probably the most versatile mic I own, and that's a good reason to buy it right there. For a mic on the lower end of the $$ scale, you can use it for almost anything! And it sounds good for all things I've used it on so far!
I purchased the NT1A first. There was a weird midrange bump and it always sounded harsh to me. I returned it ( To my local Sam Ash who were great) and purchased the Blue Spark. What a fantastic mic in comparison. No midrange or harshness issues that I have seen. Much easier to work with in post production. Also not as sibilant as the NT1A. Both great mics, but for me the Blue Spark is the clear winner. YMMV.
This mic came as quite a shock to me: It's Great!I had low expectations of a mic at this price. But I was impressed. It's quiet, clean, with a strong output level with low noise. What's not to like? (The looks, I guess, which are kind of tacky, IMO)On vocals it has plenty of detailed high end. Maybe a little crisp - but that can be controlled with EQ in the preamp or DAW.I did some A/B recordings agains the Reactor and Blueberry, and could not tell which was which. You may not get the low end you need for other sounds, so this is not a "do-it-all" mic. But that's OK. We all need more than one mic...Save your money toward a good preamp and get this mic, instead of spending a bundle on more high end products.
The Blue Spark Digital is a top quality large diaphragm condenser mic with a high performance USB interface. It connects directly to your computer be it a Mac, PC, smartphone or tablet. If you want to use more than one you will need to contact Blue for some custom modifications to give the two mics separate identities. This is not a problem if your other USB mic is not a Blue Spark Digital. The mics controls are simple and effective. It is especially nice to have a gain control on the mic, other USB mics have gain set by software from the PC but with the Spark Digital you just turn a knob. Push button mute is also a great feature. With the gain turned up this mic can be very hot and will pick up a lot of background sound. The gain adjustment allows you to dial in ... MoreThe Blue Spark Digital is a top quality large diaphragm condenser mic with a high performance USB interface. i've been using a rode nt1000 lately for vocals, and honestly, i like this little guy better. equally as respnsive, but more focused. the rode would litterally pick up my cat meowing across the house. the spark picks up nuance and inflection just as well, without recording all of the unwanted ambient noise that happens to flow in a typical home studio. for anyone looking for an affordable vocal and all around mic, look no further. this mic is hands down the best value you will find in this price range.what's so fantastic? nothing. no high pass, low pass, db. range selectors, or any of that nonesense. handy little focus control switch but even that doesn't do much. just pure, raw, brutally honest response. the woden box is a nice touch too. and the little panflet ... Morei've been using a rode nt1000 lately for vocals, and honestly, i like this little guy better. equally as respnsive, but more focused. the rode would litterally pick up my cat meowing across the house. the spark picks up nuance and inflection just as well, without recording all of the unwanted ambient noise that happens to flow in a typical home studio. for anyone looking for an affordable vocal and all around mic, look no further. this mic is hands down the best value you will find in this price range.what's so fantastic? nothing. no high pass, low pass, db. range selectors, or any of that nonesense. handy little focus control switch but even that doesn't do much. just pure, raw, brutally honest response. the woden box is a nice touch too. and the little panflet that came with it was designed to look like a book of matches (spark). these of course have nothing to do with the mic itself, but it's still pretty cool!i was skeptical at first just seeing pictures of this thing because the arm holding the diaphram looks really skimpy. but i was supprised to find this thing is actually quite sturdy.for the price, nothing beats it.
