If you enjoy art and coming of age type stories then you'll love this. I loved learning things about art that I never knew before.

Struggling to find what you like, and what you want to create, learning to develop your own skill and style, and so much more!If you have ever read "Sangatsu No Lion", there is a good chance you'll enjoy "Blue Period".
Great manga about protagonist who decides to become an artist and his journey to finding the beauty in art. It also deals with all the real world hurdles and self doubt that comes with that. Complex characters and beautiful art style. Also has great character growth.

As an art student myself, I knew I must give this manga a read, and while doing so I've enjoyed refreshing myself on basic art principles as the main character experiences them for the first time. I think the author hoped readers would be persuaded to pursue art if that is their passion by watching the main character experience that same change.
I love this series so much! The art style is so unique for a manga and I find the plot very motivational and a lot of aspects feel extremely grounded in reality compared to other manga series I've read. Yatora is a super relatable character (whether art is your thing or not), it's interesting to see him navigate the art world out of passion rather than skill and to learn about the world of art with him. All of the side characters are fun, and seeing Yatora overcome obstacles through his relationships is always entertaining. I'll be keeping up with the series for sure.
