Bob's Red Mill Sorghum Flour 624g

Bob’s Red Mill Sorghum Flour, also known as jowar flour, is stone ground from 100% whole grain sorghum. It has a light colour and texture and a mild, sweet flavour, making our white sorghum flour a popular alternative to wheat flour and a wonderful ingredient for gluten free baking. Sorghum grains are unrelated to wheat, so they are suitable for those with celiac disease or a gluten intolerance. Traditionally, this gluten free flour has been used to create pancakes, porridges, beer and flatbread such as jowar roti in India. It can also substitute for other grains in cakes, cookies, breads and muffins. Due to its mild taste and smooth texture, sorghum flour is a great choice to replace wheat flour in sweet breads, cookies and more—although keep in mind you’ll need to include a binder such as xanthan gum.

Excellent brand and taste!

Sorghum flour is an excellent flour for making any sort of pastry (if you know how of course)! I mostly use it for naans or slim bread slides. To prepare them, you need to boil water in proportion "one to one" with flour (one cup of sorghum flour and one cup of water), add some salt and oil. Add the oil and salt before the water is boiling. Once the water is boiling, add the flour. Lower the flame or heat intensity and mix it all with. After that remove the dough from the fire and whatever you are boiling the water, and knead the dough. The result should have a proper consistency for making naans. You can use a pan for cooking them. Enjoy them!

Excellent!

Sorghum flour is a type of flour that is made from the ground grains of the sorghum plant. One of the main advantages of sorghum flour is its nutritional profile. It is rich in dietary fiber, protein, and various essential nutrients such as iron, magnesium, and B vitamins. The high fiber content not only promotes better digestion but also helps regulate blood sugar levels and keeps you feeling satiated for longer periods, amazing quality.

I have been searching for gluten free flours that will be a satisfactory replacement for wheat flour. I have made cookies with this and will be using it for breads in the future. It has a good flavor and easily replaces wheat without needing a lot of other ingredients (flours) to make it a useful mix.

Good

Traditionally, this gluten free flour has been used to create pancakes, porridges, beer and flatbread such as jowar roti in India. It can also substitute for other grains in cakes, cookies, breads and muffins. Its mild flavor works well in many sweet and savory recipes in everything from flaky pastry to vanilla cake. It's rich in vitamins and minerals like B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc. It's likewise an excellent source of fiber, antioxidants, and protein. It can be used as a 1:1 all-purpose flour substitute in just about any recipe, or blended with starches, other gluten-free flours and xanthan gum.

Great for an all purpose gluten free flour mix.
29 October 2023

Almost every gluten free flour mix has either potato starch (which is disastrous for my body) or Xanthum gum, which is also a big avoid for me. Therefore I make my own gluten free flour mixes. I particularly like the sorghum flour because it is flavor-neutral and can be used for many different baked items. I do not need a huge bag of it and the Bob's Mill is reasonably priced and about the amount that works for me without being open for "too long."

Great for baking
30 September 2023

Sorghum has such a great flavor! I especially love using this in ATK's gluten free maple cornbread recipe. It is subtlety sweet and pairs well with other flours. The packaging it comes in doesn't always seal well, so either take care when storing, or use an alternative airtight container.

Great gluten free flour for baking!
29 April 2023

Bob's are always high quality flours, and this worked perfectly for baking. The flour was high quality with a pleasant taste and lasted well even after opening. The resealable packaging was great and had no problems with moisture getting in after sealing. Highly recommend.

Makes a KILLER Delicious banana bread
22 October 2023

I have heavy allergies, so I use flours, sweeteners, oils that are related when making breads to use as few "ingredient food types" as possibleFor my bread, this delicious quality flour, sorgum syrup and walnut oil with 5 very ripe bananas made a SUPER delicious banana bread that was well bonded. No other flour types were used.
