We have successfully used it in turkey chili, tacos, pasta sauce, pretty much anything with ground turkey except for stuff like meatballs. It just takes on the same flavor as what you're cooking and ive always added it with meat, I've never made a meal with it by itself. I have tasted it plain and it doesnt really taste like anything either and the texture when cooked is about the same as cooked ground turkey meat. I haven't used it in anything with ground beef, mostly because we dont normally eat it but im sure it would be good cooked in with it. This is a good price to just buy one to try it out but they can be bought in bulk cheaper on amazon which is what we plan to do next

I have been using this since the 70's when it came out that red meat was not good for you. I add one cup to my chili recipe which calls for one pound of chop meat so I also add the tvp along with the meat . It doubles the recipe and tastes great. I have a hard time finding it in my super markets on Long Island. They carry other red mill products but not this, I think most people don't know how to use it. It's too bad.I also add it to stuffed peppers and meat balls along with the meat, works great.

I bought this to try since it is very high in protein and versatile. This was surprisingly good. I reconstituted it with vegetable broth in my Instant Pot, and first used it in lasagna to increase the protein content -- very good. Next, I used it as a substitute for ground beef in a meatloaf recipe and again it was very good, eaten hot or cold. Next time, I will first fry chopped onion, then add the reconstituted TVP and use it in spaghetti sauce.
The ingredients I use to make in my recipe using this is just checkin soup around 2 cups and 2 tb spoon size. It is serving two it seems for me alot cause the size will be bigger once cooked so for me I frequency cook it once and separate into small packages to take out whenever I need. I am not on diet but like vegetarian food and thats its benefit. The quality of the dish depends on your ingredients also. For me it taste good with chicken soup and salad.
I do not like meat or poultry. I only like fish and eggs. Looking for good protein source I've found this product. I had tried few brands with no good results. Now I gave this one a try with no expectation but...this is truly a winner.I've soaked it in fresh boiled water with spices added add some dried onions. It turned out really good...wanted to eat it all like this. Used into a nice spinach casserole and it was great. Attached a picture that shows how it turned out after soaking. Prepared it 1:1 quantities.
This is a poor representation of meat compared to the larger chunks of soy meat I get from the Mexican supermarket. It's barely textured and doesn't soften that well even with more water and cooking. Because it's so fine, it generates a lot of powder which whitens and thickens your food in an unappealing way. Would not cook with it again.The flavor is otherwise good, and it's very crispy and edible as-is without hydrating. I've eaten spoonfuls of it dry, and think it would make an excellent addition to various cereals like Honey Bunches.
This is ground-up, dried soy protein. I use it when cooking pasta sauce, tacos, and any type of recipe that requires small, chopped protein. There is no flavoring or taste other than soy, so if you want flavor you need to add your own seasoning or marinate it with broth before using it in cooking. Since the soy protein gets bigger you only need a little bit with each serving you cook.

Decided to actually do something about my family's diet. Several years ago I was basically tricked into eating a vegetarian chili. It was amazing! Even after I found out it had no meat!! Being a Bob's customer for several years by buying buckwheat flour, so I knew first hand of their commitment to quality! For these reasons I decided to order some tvp and try to make vegetarian chili for my family as we meet every week for a family dinner with our siblings because we promised Mom and Dad we would!!
