This tan works a bit differently to others so I think that's why some people don't like their results initially. It doesn't smell bad, the color is a BEAUTIFUL olive color with a slight golden tone, doesn't get patchy, dries quickly so there's minimal to no transfer on sheets or clothes. I just can't say enough great things about this product. Just make sure you shower midday and exfoliate everywhere, then let your skin calm down and apply lotion or body butter everywhere especially dry parts like knees, hands, and elbows, then apply the tanner before bed and wash off in the morning. The color WILL rinse off a bit but that's normal, it is supposed to get darker over the next day or two so do this a day or two in advance before an event. I was a bit disconcerted by the guide colour which is VERY dark and a bit dirty looking; it reminded me a little of my early fake tan experience in the noughties š it develops very very quickly and after 30 mins I was too nervous to leave it on much longer. It is just a guide colour though and applied with a velvet mitt, after showering was nice and even. I am literally so confused. I am a pretty seasoned self-tanner and wanted to try bondi sands as I heard it's one of the best there is! The first time I used this product was right out of the shower after I had exfoliated and moisturized (as this is how I used other self tanners). Of course it didn't stick to me at all and washed right off after the hour or so I left it on. Then, I read the instructions and realized I didn't really follow them. So I gave it a second try. I exfoliated and moisturized in the morning, and around 4 pm when my skin was completely dry and clean I spent near 45 minutes making sure it was applied perfectly. Of course it didn't stick to me at all and washed right off after the hour or so I left it on. Then, I read the instructions and realized I didn't really follow them. So I gave it a second try. I exfoliated and moisturized in the morning, and around 4 pm when my skin was completely dry and clean I spent near 45 minutes making sure it was applied perfectly. Waited about 2 hours as the instructions say, and it seemed like it clung to my skin much better, so I was excited to see the result. And I got in the shower to rinse, yes just with water. And everything came off completely again!!!! So frustrating for this 27 weeks pregnant woman who spent so much time applying the self tan (and we all know it's a lot of effort even not pregnant!). Really just genuinely confused and disappointed as to why it is not working for me.
