I felt it necessary to write a review to help clear up some of the 'issues' others have mentioned in their reviews. First, I ran these tires all last year, my current set (I swapped wheels so my original set is on a bike that is not my every day ride anymore...but those tires are still in good shape too) has over 1400 miles on them. The rear has had two serious punctures that required plugs (I use Stan's Dart plugs...work great), and is still going strong. Front has never gone flat from a puncture. I ride in Portland which is the city of broken glass, so I wasn't surprised at all when the punctures happened. Had I been running tubed tires I'd have flatted more, judging from other little holes that the sealant has fixed sans plugs. These tires are fast rolling, very ... MoreI felt it necessary to write a review to help clear up some of the 'issues' others have mentioned in their reviews. Can't have everything in life. Tire is either lightweight with a good compound that feels great but is more puncture prone, or it's a brick that feels terrible but hey no flats.Another person said the grip is good in dry but sucks in the wet, but they weigh 150lbs and run the tires at 70psi. No kidding. You think they are grippy in the dry now, then perhaps try running them at the correct pressure for your weight and be truly amazed. I weigh 187lbs and run the rear at 50psi and the front at 45. If I weighed 37lbs less, I'd run them much lower. 70psi is like a rock for 32c tires. What's the point of running tubeless if you can't enjoy the benefits gained from running lower pressures?? Come on.If you're going to run a nice tubeless tire, please know how to properly utilize it before you go writing reviews that make it clear you don't know what you are talking about. This tire is one of Bontrager's best tires ever produced, period.

Bought these in 700 x 32 tan. Relatively easy tubeless installation and set up. Grip well and roll fast on the road, can’t comment on wear rate as I have only used these 3 times. But here’s the problem, used 3 times and punctured each time needing a plug to repair the tyre. Tried with 3 different sealants each time did not seal. I ride generally the same routes and up until I fitted these tyres I have had maybe one or two punctures per year. These tyres are just too unreliable so removed them and fitted some wtb exposure and now back to no punctures.

Only ordered this again because none of the tyres I wanted were available. Replacing the same tyre which developed a small puncture which, no matter what I did would not seal. Maybe it was the Effeto Mariposa Caffélatex that was rubbish. Either way, extremely frustrating and, ultimately, expensive. I have no idea on how good the original tyre was. It seemed to have enough grip but seems to have little or no puncture protection despite getting good reviews.

I have run the 32 in the past and it was an excellent, durable, fast, grippy, and comfortable tire. It’s fast and smooth on pavement, can take a few gravel sections, and will even get you through dry and smooth dirt (harder clay) if you drop the pressure a little but I wouldn’t say it’s a gravel tire… just a slightly more capable road tire. I just got some new set after wearing through the tread at over 3000 miles. The 32 is 120tpi, while the 28 has the “TR speed 170tpi casing.” I’m glad the smaller sizes are finally tubeless!
Got these to give as a present which is risky, as with shoes its each to there own when it comes to tyres. My son is very happy with them. Slick portion in the middle with light tred to the sides for cornering. Tubeless set up will cut commuting punctures and they look cool too.
On my rear wheel I’m on my third one of these in eight months. The first one got slashed by unknown sharp thing while riding through a puddle, so not really the fault of the tyre. The second one got pinch punctures in the sidewall when hitting not a very big kerb going not very fast. So while the grip, comfort, ease of fitting tubeless etc is great they don’t appear to be very robust.
This has been my best 700x28 Tyre Ever. Light, solid and fast. I have had to pull out thorns and glass, and just continued riding. I am usually super shy about going fast downhill but I found confidence in the stability and grip of this tyre to the point were I achieved a descent of over 32m/hr of this tyre. All good over the first 200+ miles on it! I'll be buying another as a spare.
I bought a pair of these last month to fit to my gravel bike so I can use it as a winter road bike. I have them in 32c width (the smallest my wheels will take is 30). No punctures so far (but have only done a few hundred Km so cant read too much into that), they feel comfy and give confidence on our shocking roads. Went on reasonably easily with just a small amount of swearing. They do roll with a bit more resistance than the GP5000s I have on the "best" bike; probably drops my speed by 1-2km/h. Worth it I think for the extra grip and comfort. You do need to have them pumped up to their max pressure though.
Have run the previous R3 model for 15k miles and loved everything about them. These are ok so far with a couple of observations..needed an Airshock to seat on DT Swiss RR511 rims (old R3s didn't need this), and the 28 measures bang on once mounted which is what the 26mm version did. They feel similar - supple and grippy. Now they've been on a while they hold pressure well - just need a ride or two to settle down. No incidents so far, can't tell wear rate yet and they have a lot to live up to as the old R3s never let me down (OK, I plugged one of them but that was at home and a plug on a road tyre was impressive).
I use these on zipp rims that were tubeless ready. Replaced the rim tape with tubeless tape.Tire bead is very loose for a tubeless tire. Therefore it makes it difficult to seat these tires on the rim even though it was lipped. I am used to mountain bike tubeless tires which are much more difficult to mount onto the rims and seem to see it much easier. Would not recommend them. I have switched over to continental. We’ll see how that goes.
