The Bosch hedge-pole is particularly useful for trimming the higher foliage from ground level but does have its limitations. I bought this a) because it a Bosch product, generally synonymous with quality, and b) according to a review I read was one of the lightest pole hedge trimmers on the market. Sadly the clip that secures the shoulder strap to the pole broke on first use, but it wasn't too difficult to effect a make do repair. As for lightness, it may be lighter than others but still carries some weight and can be difficult to control when fully extended. But if you can manage the weight it appears a good bit of kit and certainly beats climbing up a ladder with a traditional hedge trimmer.

A great piece of kit for cutting tall hedges (and trees with new growth)!

The Bosch 18V Hedgepole is an excellent piece of kit, where I found it to be perfect for lopping some very tall hedges, shrubs and trees (obviously not large branches though). I purchased the Bosch Batteries separately, where I bought a pack with a charger and two batteries, however I was surprised at just how long one battery actually lasted before needing recharging. My only criticism is with the strap that was provided with it, where one of the metal connectors broke on its first use. However I contacted the company I purchased it off (Lawsons), where they have sent a replacement strap out straightaway. The way the hedge-cutting blades can be easily changed to different angles is an excellent feature, and the way the pole can be easily disassembled into two pieces is also a useful feature for storage and transport. Taking all these points into consideration, I would personally recommend this product!

Head of tool cracked and disconnected. NO WARRANTY

Regrettable purchase and the 3 year warranty was worthless as it didn’t cover any repair. It doesn’t have enough power, jams regularly and the plastic where the head connects to the pole is weak. I used it at full extension maybe 8 times to trim about 40 meters of hedging before it broke. I took it to Mitre 10 Mt Wellington who said it would be replaced but as it was purchased from Onehunga I had to take it to them. They were not as understanding and suggested I had misused the product. Not a great experience and not a great product without the warranty.

Jams every minute

Bought this a couple of months ago and decided to use it during lockdown. Fully charged the battery.This tool is pretty useless unless you just want to cut leaves and the first 10 cm of the softest hedge. It jams all the time and then needs to have the blades unlocked with a screwdriver or piece of wood.I gave up after an hour and ran out the cord for my old electric hedge trimmer which has worked for 20 years.

Makes quick work of hedge trimming

I'm glad I bought this tool. Its my first electric hedge trimmer. I enjoyed using my old manual shears, but they were taking too long and getting a bit risky with the taller hedges. This tool is much faster and makes quick work of our taller hedges due to less need to use and adjust ladders. The tool is still light enough for me to use off of ladder when extra reach is needed. So far I've used it to trim camellia, pittosporum, holly, photinia, and magnolia. It easily cuts through anything less than 0.5 cm. On camellias it starts to struggle somewhere toward 1.0cm, but the anti-blocking works well. Some stamina in the arms is required if there's a lot of trimming to do (I'm 62 years old with a hiking level of fitness). Review of Bosch UniversalHedgePole 18 18V Body Only Telescopic Hedgecutter

The product is functional despite being a bit heavy on the longest setting. The Battery is not included so make sure you got one. The 18V is delivering enough power to get through the thoughest branches of your hedge but it feels less powerful than the corded one. Overall a decent product if you need an extendable hedge trimmer

The brilliant Bosch Telescopic Hedge Trimmer

I needed something that was long enough and yet light enough to reach across the top of a wide hedge. My other two hedge cutters are both too heavy or not long enough. Brilliant that it works with all Bosch 18 V batteries that I use on my other tools. The tool easily adjusts to any cutting angle and is simply extended enabling me to walk along the hedge line trimming the top at 90°. As a 70-year-old I found this tool easy and effective.

Utterly useless for anything but the lightest leaf

Fails at its primary function of cutting. Extremely weak cutting action. Jams on the tiniest of twigs or even just when too many leaves are being cut along the teeth.I regret this purchase, and should have realised that 18v cordless is not fit for garden use. Should have gone for a high-powered corded or petrol-powered model.
