I bought this to use on small projects around the house. It works great so far. I am not expecting full size performance from such a small 12 volt router. It works great at trimming the edge of of some overlay material. It also works great putting a mild edge on some of my small wood working projects. No bog down yet and I have used it on pine, oaks, maple, birch, poplar, and a few more. Go slow and feed into it and it will sing for you. Odd shape but easy to use and hold onto. I wanted to add a long and thick striker plate to both our front and back doors. It stuck out a little if you placed it right on the door jam. I used this to take it down a little bit so the enhanced striker plate would sit flush, no problem. Powerful, easy to handle, cordless, perfect for edge-trimming - so much easier to use than my full-power plunge router because its very kight in the hand and very little starting torque (than a full-size). Uses the same 10.8V or 12V batteries as my other Bosch tools. Bosch doesn't have the widest selection of tools, but my experience is they are very good tools.
Bosch tools are great, and this is no exception. Easy to use, light, and I already have batteries and chargers that match this. Refurbished tools are the way to go
Purchased with 2.0 Amp Hour battery for small hobby use. Charged new battery and attempted to trim route front and back 1/4" tall curly maple acoustic guitar binding project. The first side was 2 pieces of approximately 32" curly maple about 1/32" proud. Worked ok, but had to go very slow or it bogged down ( this is 1/4" x 1/32" thickness). Only got 5" further on the other side then the battery was exhausted. Charged for 1 hour then battery was hot, so let it cool another hour. Had to go very slow and when the second side was done only one charge LED was lit. So including charging battery waiting for it to cool, it takes 4 hours to trim 12 linear feet of high 1/4" curly maple about 1/32" proud from the surface.
I love the feel of this router. It is a little week for doing some projects but I bought it to keep a small chamfer bit on it for edge work. Anything more than that, it most likely wouldn’t hold up. I got tired of getting my big router out for small edge profiles. Overall I like it.
I really wanted this. Sounded great. It uses 12v Bosch system that I was invested in. It works ok for 1/8" round over bits. I used it to round over door casings as I built my home. With that said, it isn't powerful enough to quickly get a clean routers edge. Less RPM I think. I eventually moved to the Dewalt 20v which is much better. Other than power, all other functions work great.
Great product for smaller jobs. Easy to handle and with sufficient power. Highly recommend for the everyday woodworker.
I’ve wanted this since I saw the coming soon add probably 2 years ago. Finally on the market and I got one. Handy to say the least. Weather flush cutting veneers around cabinets or finishing a jewelry box. It gets where the other routers don’t fit.
